Rice Queen Oriental Diner and Bar

Celebrated a friend’s birthday at Rice Queen last weekend - what a treat! We were so pleased with our experience at this Pan-Asian restaurant; amazing food, great service and very good vibes

The cocktails were so yummy! Would highly recommend trying both the Lychee and Cherry ones! Tasted very nice, easy to drink and had a decent amount of alcohol in it.

Dan-dan noodles were very nice, super tasty and flavours were sophisticated. A little too much sauce though. Got the Confit Duck Pancake dish in the vegetarian mock meat option, it tasted really good with that coconut hoisin, most of the flavour was from the sauce (since it is mock meat - most likely made of soy) - overall an enjoyable dish, would try it with actual duck instead though.

The XO fried rice blew us away! It was super flavourful, had so many great ingredients and they all went superbly together. Solid dish and would highly recommend! Quite generous with the portion size as well. Wish it came with more chilli oil though.

Ga Nuong (forgot to take a pictures, sorry) was the star of the show! This Vietnamese bbq chicken dish was cooked to perfection! 3 huge pieces of well seasoned and juicy chicken laid upon a bed of cauliflower purée - match made in heaven! The Tamarind Chimichurri sauce it comes with gives the chicken a kick of sour and really enhances the bbq flavour.

Received complimentary Rice Queen Shots and fortune cookies. Those shots were super tasty and fortune cookies really adds to the experience. I would recommend booking tables with the non-backless seats, it was a little uncomfortable and the tables were really small’

Shout out to Austin for taking such good care of us! Can’t wait to be back ️

Went here for drinks & then came back for dinner. Such a warm & welcoming environment! Austin (venue manager) is so skilled at what he does & all the workers are super friendly. Food was amazing! Generous portions & full of flavour. Loads of Vego & Vegan options plus Gluten Free options as well. Excellent value for money. Music & lighting is also perfect. Highly recommend & will definitely be back soon. Thank you very much.

Places was well decorated and the kingfish was nice. Our booking was at 6: 30 but the food came out so slow that the we didn’t get our dessert until 9. The rice was undercooked so we couldn’t eat it and the ribs we had was mostly fat. The staff were sweet however every cocktail order would take 30-40 minutes to get made. The music was so loud we couldn’t hear what the waiters said or even have a conversation. I understand the “vibe” they’re going for but I like to have a conversation during dinner

Intimate Asian Fusion venue. Really nice atmosphere, wonderful staff and great food. The kareoke room wasn't cranking when I was there but it didn't take away from a great night. Would throughly recommend to anyone in the area.

Austin and his team are next level hospitality. Such lovely food and outstanding service just makes your heart melt. This is a great venue. Food is so full of flavour. Caters for vegetarians and gf. Will return in next day or so because it is so good

Good food. Fast service. Fast delivery of food to the table. They offer a couple of fructose free options if you’re on a low fodmap diet. The music isn’t too loud so you can actually hear the company you’re with.

Very good experience, superb food and the karaoke was fun (more song selection would be good, but it was pretty decent) - amazing attention and support from staff (i believe the name is Austin! Thank you for the amazing and professional service!)

Amazing food and service. Venue is beautiful, and staff are accommodating (allowing us to move tables to a quieter spot). Cannot speak more highly of the great staff!

I had such a wonderful experience at Rice Queen! Lulu was so kind and helpful and accommodating. The karaoke was so much fun. The atmosphere and aesthetic was amazing. But most importantly the food was DELICIOUS! I thought $59 for the tasting menu was so reasonable for everything that you get. Both the vegan and non vegan dishes were all mouth watering. I also thought that the menu was really creative and I got to try things I haven't had before.

The only downside is that the music was very loud and so it was hard to chat.

I had been wanting to try this place for ages as I always walked by it and was curious. Not only does it have a beautiful interior, the food is amazing! This is definitely added to one of my fav restaurants in Melbourne. It’s just delicious.

Used to be a great place to eat or order out. Don't know if they have changed hands but the food has gone way downhill. Portion sizes, beware the 'larger portion' duck unless you are feeding a small child. Pad noodles a clumped tastless solid mess that frankly went straight in the bin. Poor show. Avoid.

Unfortunately they trick you into paying a tip when you order via their QR code (tips are automatically included), even though there is not much table service.

It was an enjoyable dinner. My friend and I got the set menu and the sizes were generous! My fave was the lamb rib bao with papaya salad.

I attended on 2nd July 2021 and was greeted at the door by a women with a horrible attitude.
Very rude to the people before us in line, and spoke with a condescending and aggressive tone about masks (demanded we wear them at the door whilst waiting for a table - even though we had a valid expedition). Left an extremely bad first impression and was rude again when leaving the restaurant.

What beautiful food. Had the Lamb Bao dish with Hainanese Chicken and some entrees. I would go back to try the other entrees and the Massaman Curry, but I'd have to order the Chicken again! Too good to pass up.

Situated in a cavernous space and boasting a sophisticated yet fun vibe, this is the place in Fitzroy to go to if you're after an Asian fusion feast. Choose from dishes such as the tangy and fresh Kingfish Ceviche Pani Puri, or the crispy eggplant that is a mix of sweet and savory, or the tender melt-in-your-mouth Massaman Beef Curry, or the crunchy prawn toast that is super addictive. Rice Queen definitely tick all the boxes if you're after an enjoyable meal.

Great tasting food, fabulous service, amazing decor, so tasteful, a beautiful space with great ambience. But if you don't like sitting up on stools and high table to eat make sure you ask for normal table seating.

Good decor and ambience but horrible services and staffs. The foods are ordinary, not worth the money.
All and all we did not enjoy our time there one bit.
Don’t go there if you have big group, they’re not capable to cater.
