Rooms felt a little out dated and nothing special although the view we had was pretty nice

A highly underrated place to visit.

Great championship golf course, commercial Gym and indoor 25 meter pool.

Hotel rooms recently renovated and very nice.

Shirleys bar and restaurant is a must visit when in Torquay.

Wonderful experience at The Sands and would thoroughly recommend this place for families with fur babies!

The birthday card and donut treats for Leelah our small husky were a lovely thought and the teams willingness to help me manage a couple of rearrangements prior to our arrival, without any hesitation, was very reassuring.

Gabbi on the front desk left a small treat and message for Leelah's humans too. As soon as we arrived, Gabbi realised our husky was the birthday girl which was very unexpected and we were all made to feel very welcome. What a great team! We can't wait to stay at The Sands again, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, the facilities (golf course/pool/grounds), the location, the GF event and the attitude of all the staff.

Too expensive for what it is. No room service, tables or side tables weren't cleaned or even wiped, beds are saggy, water pressure in the shower is low. I wouldn't recommend staying there. Unless you love golf and are there to play only.

We had an amazing two night stay at the sands! Staff were lovely, rooms were exceptionally clean and the view of the golf course was incredible! Only a short drive/walk to all the cafes, shops and beach. We will definitely return!

Positives- nice rooms (great shower, clean, good size) service desk very friendly, indoor pool very good clean and good size, also gyms looked good but didn’t use.

Negatives- car park view in half the apartments (hard to block out car park lighting even with all blinds down), smoke detector blinking green all night, on site restaurant is terrible - very cold tiled floor, hard wooden chairs with no padding, ordinary food and quite expensive (3 pizzas, 1 schnitzel no chips + lettuce thrown onto plate, 3 drinks $140)
Would I go back? Probably not unless it was a golfing weekend but you definitely need to go into Torquay itself to eat which is again super expensive so………overall, unless I was playing golf on site with mates I wouldn’t bring the fam there again tbh.

It has a driving range, which is hard to find in Torquay

Fantastic hotel, stayed here a few times now and would highly recommend if in Torquay.
Golf course is unreal, a real challenge for golfers of all levels.

Paid for a golf view but got a bush view.pathetic services.extremely unhappy ️.
Please get a confirmation from the the sands before you book or otherwise it's deceitful as you dont get what you pay for

We didn't stay at the resort, we just played 18 holes social golf here with my husband on Friday 30th December 2022.
It's a beautiful but very tough course.
The Pro Shop and the drinks cart ran out of sandwiches, which was very disappointing, especially when they had so many booked in.
The field was full, so groups in front were a but slow, which made for a very long round of 18 holes.
We'll be back to play again one day.

The stay was amazing we rented 3 rooms. Gym and Swimming Pool was great fun to keep kids and adults entertained not to forget the golf course.highly recommended

The room was so comfortable. The girl at the check-in counter was lovely. It was really nice to sit out on the bar balcony/deck and enjoy a wine. We would love to visit again. My husband loved that the golf was close by. Thank you

My husband called to arrange a bottle of champagne for our room, it never arrived! The bathroom had a previous guests hair on the floor in 2 different places! The chairs and table out the front and the windows have not been cleaned in months! The entrance to the accomodation block was not cleaned in like 2 months! We stayed 2 nights and they did not service our room! Would not recommend here at all!

Friendly and accommodating staff, very clean rooms and lovely location, dog friendly added bonus. Gave us a doggy treat bag upon arrival.

The room was nice, staff were friendly enough. However, we had the stay & play package. I booked over the phone (more than 3 months in advance) and I was informed that I would not have any problems booking the golf on arrival and we would have no issues getting a tee time. This was not true. On arrival we were told weekends were for members only. We rushed through 9 holes late on Saturday evening (without the cart that was also included in the package) & could not play at all on the Sunday, as we were told they wanted to keep it available for members, even though the course was empty. The staff were not helpful with this at all. No reimbursement was received for the golf & cart. Do not recommend if you wish to play golf.
We managed to get 18 holes in at 13th beach on the Saturday instead, a great course & very inviting, highly recommended.

Takes your money on false pretences then gives absolute zero care that they ripped us off. If your looking for a golf holiday, stay away from here.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and staff for making my birthday celebrations memorable.
The food you put together look amazing, delicious and there was plenty to choose from. The staff were so accommodating and friendly.
It’s so exciting to see The Sands up and running again.
I will be recommending The Sands to anyone who is wanting to celebrate their special occasion.

Swim school service is really hard to navigate. We’ve tried enrolling our son multiple times. First got told no waitlist, then a random waitlist appeared and we were not added to it. The staff at the facility have not kept us updated and it’s not clear how the service works. It’s very frustrating especially given how important water safety is for children.
