Palace Cinema Como reviews
73The cinema itself had great comfy chairs, and was what you’d expect. The massive downside was the absolute reek of urine in the toilet hallway. Like someone had peed on the carpet outside the men’s room. Eww.
Joined the 60+ Movie Club online yesterday but could not book tickets despite responding to email confirming address. Called the conema 4 hrs later, no one eould help me. There goes "Past Lives"! Maybe this means one has to join Platinum & pay the fee of $13.50.
The ticket sellers were unfriendly, trying to get us to pay more for a choice we didn't need. I do not appreciate this attitude of service. Negative review.
I'm very happy with the quality of this cinema. They have indie films and mainstream, and much newer and nicer decor than the big cinemas. There's no reason to go elsewhere. The smaller cinemas are great! We're loving the Scandinavian Film Festival so far, yet also excited for Greta Gerwig's take of Barbie.
My favourite cinema! Love the location, the movie selection, popcorn and the option to enjoy a glass of wine.
Very friendly service, Hayden was great!
Will be back!
I'm a tourist / new to Toorak, but familiar with independent cinemas in Australia.
We waited too long for our food, and it was overpriced (however I wasn't expecting the great presentation - I was expecting a cardboard takeaway plate).
Lovely venue.
I have watched many movies here now however I don't think I've ever experienced such a small cinmea screen in my life as I did here for Mr wick 4.
Very small screen, almost similar size as a typical home cinema screen size, nice decor though parking at the como center is extremely expensive, for a 2hr movie parking is about $45, there is a ticket validation machine for cheaper parking but it's located in a corner of the cinema lobby where it's out of sight and cinema staff doesn't even make customer aware of it either.
Despite website saying they’re y open from 7: 30am at 9.30 am I was told they were closed. I guess Village cinema vouchers will have to do. The indignation about their website saying they were open sealed it
$24 for a ticket and then subjected to 20minutes of advertisements on screen before the film. What a joke.
Just when I realised the screen isn't much bigger than the living room.the movie begun and the screen got smaller.
Should have watched it on my iphone 5.
Evelyn and the rest of the staff are great. Super friendly, helpful and make the experience even better.
It’s a little bit of luxe.
Carparking downstairs is convenient & you get a discount from $14 to $10 if you validate it in the cinema.
Great place to relax and enjoy the cinema. This place is very charming with a few very good places to have a coffee after.
Really enjoyed my visit, unique theatre setting, olde world decor feels so luxurious can't wait to go again.
Fantastic roster of films to watch, comfortable and unique cinemas. Where would we be without Palace? A Melbourne institution of the highest value.
Nice venue. However the the quality of the movie in the cinema I was seated in was extremely poor. The brightness was so low I couldn’t see any part of the movie that was filmed in low light.
The Palace Como is always a pleasure to attend. Parking below and a discount with your cinema ticket.
Coming from the Westside we felt like peasants at the fancy Palace cinema. It had a great atmosphere and nice change of scenery to our normal venues.
Movie at the Como was late starting. After 10 mins of all the audience waiting and wondering what was happening I went and found someone out the back. The response was oh yes we are trying to get it working. I said well I think it would be a good idea if you came and spoke to the audience who are sitting inside as it is nearly 15 minutes since the expected start time.
The young man then came a few mins later into the theatre and said if anyone would like a refund they would do that. They couldn’t get the movie going
There was no offer of compensation for the people who had travelled some distance and wasted the afternoon. After some of the audience, they agreed to put a Spanish film on for the people who had not seen it.
Please note this was only after they were asked. I did discuss this with a manager at the counter but again there was no offer of compensation. While I do understand there were problems with the projection and these things happen. I do not believe it was good customer service A waste of an afternoon.
