Beautiful spot for a lovely evening out. Food is fresh and seasonal and always changing. Wine list is a good selection of everyday drinking wines or something a bit fancier if you like.

We visited Neighbourhood Wines last night. Our server was lovely and we had a delicious bottle of wine but unfortunately the food was very disappointing.

We started with oysters which were fine. The next item to arrive was a snack of smoked anchovy which comprised a single fillet atop a thin cracker which was finished with slices of carrot. It was minuscule, slightly strange and not worth $10. We also had bread with salted butter that we could have sworn was whipped cream topped with sea salt. I couldn't eat it.

Next, we had chewy calamari and a tomato dish that was overpowered by a mountain of peanuts (but the tomatoes were lovely).

For our mains we had the gnudi which were almost inedible - sandy in texture and resting upon broccoli that was so vinegary we could barely recognise it. Finally, the dory was nicely cooked but the fried beans made the whole dish feel unhealthy.

The decor also missed the mark. Although I could see some nice hints of kitsch, the overall look was confusing.

Looking through the other reviews I can't understand why our experience was so different. Perhaps there was a different chef last night?

Visited Neighbourhood Wine last night with a group of close friends for a special occasion dinner. It’s a place a couple of us have been before and have previously enjoyed the food, wine and atmosphere. Last night was an exception though. The food was wildly unimpressive, the wine didn’t hit the mark and the ambiance was odd.

We started with some of the snack at the top of the menu – the sweet potato and ocean trout. These dishes were miniscule and provided no value for the price paid. The bread that came with the a la carte menu was nice but was served cold with a whipped cream-like butter which was heavily salted.

Our starters were largely unsatisfying. The calamari dish was fresh and light and the tomatoes were tasty however the seasoning and flavouring weren’t at all on the money. The dory fish was decent, as well as the standard pork belly dish. However the ricotta gnudi was very small, kind of odd and just overall unimpressive, with a very unpleasant texture and complete lack of taste.

We finished by sharing two serves of the caramel cake for dessert, which only allowed a large spoonful for each of us – great value for $30. The flavours on this dessert were plain awful. We were kind of bewildered by what was on the plate. What looked like brown sugar ended up tasting like a savory, rosemary-tasting dust. The cake itself had no flavour.

It pains me to write such a review, however we were so disappointed with the food that we are unlikely to return to this place, even though we’ve always heard great things.

Dishes are comprised of a few ingredients, really showcasing what's in season. Obviously the wine list is on point with a lot of fun and funky options.

Now this place is super duper. Very good food. The staff also very nice. Real service, like u get in paris. Like your pleasure is their priority. Oh the orange wine. So here for that, a must try. Great decor to.

OMG- $10 per / 1 Anchovy on 1 cracker! - $7 per TINY zucchini flower - x 3 people= $51 before even start your food or wine. Serves are all very small leaving the 3 of us Hungry when leaving- Shame; Used to be a good place, but anyone would think they are in the Michelin Guide at these prices & sizes:)

Decent food and good service but prices are steep. Quality and quantity of food for $75 per head was average

We've eaten here twice in the past two months and the food, wine and service are excellent. The wine list is extensive and interesting, the food thoughtfully prepared and beautifully cooked. We recommend!

Nice space. Very nice food. We had shared plates and they were very good. Service was very good. Extensive wine list but most of it is on the pricey side. It’s a good place but be prepared to pay.

Excellent selection of interesting wines at a range of prices. Delicious food and great service. Good for dates or groups but would recommend booking first. A local gem.

Food was underwhelming. Asked for recommendations for a light and healthy meal, the vegetable main served was barely edible, covered in a pungent and acidic sauce. Small serving for goat main.

Amazing wine list, with superb food to match. Friendly attentive staff and an intimate comfortable venue (which was once an old illegal casino!)

Pretty stingy to be honest. We were convinced to order the set lunch menu with bottomless wine and the meals came out super fast, our steak mains were minute (and pre cut - which the cynic in me feels 3 steaks went to 4 people) and the cheese plate was super underwhelming, consisting of what seemed to be the end knobs of a lame hard cheese. It was pretty telling too that this was the one course that we didn't each receive individual portions (if it was a cake would it have been 1 with 4 spoons?). And that's not to mention having to debate the waiter about a final carafe of (hitherto bottomless) wine; around the timing of the cheese landing on the table. Lovely spot with good vibes, just try and bring more of a generous spirit to the table - there's nothing worse than feeling like you're skimping at every step. Maybe a la carte is the way to go!

Took the $85 Saturday lunch with bottomless wine.service was rushed, food was of a poor standard, the cheese plate was basically the endtrails of a cheddar block thrown on a plate, steak was of a low quality and they wouldn't let it be cooked to your taste as it was pretty much half a steak chopped up and thrown onto a plate, with potato wedges (yes really) staff were rude.the environment and aesthetic of the place is great, everything else was a disaster.

Orange sparkling wine. Is there anything else I will ever need? ! Atmosphere, staff & food were also outstanding

Higher end prices with extensive wine list and only craft beers (no Carlton draught here!) Great music and sound system, but unfortunately if it's loud and it's busy, listening to your friends talk is nearly impossible.
The staff seem unhappy except for a few, not sure if I'd go back again.

Venue is great, noise is limited, that is one can hear oneself talk, bonus. Food and waiting staff are very good but the wines we left half of them, my dad made better wine than the ones at the lower end of the price range, far better. And I love my wines. But hey, if you wanna try the wines $15 a glass and up let me know if they were palatable. Go for a good feed but I would be wary of the wines. Give the non- filtered proseco a very wide berth! There are a great range of Australian wines at reasonable prices so it's hard to fathom why they had some Australian wines that were in my opinion substandard. Like I said, attentive staff and food was great, I just don't understand why you would pay more for booze than food.
