Neighbourhood Wine

Visited Neighbourhood Wine for an intimate birthday dinner with a friend. I called an hour ahead asking to move our 6: 00PM reservation to 6: 30PM, and was kindly accommodated, and reminded that the table was rebooked for 8: 00PM, which was fine / we kept to. The food and wine were incredible (the persimmon, beef steak, greens) and the staffs knowledge of the menu impressed me a lot! Our sommelier was lovely however visited our table about 12 times, and we felt it was a bit too much. He also kept on reminding us that we had to leave by 8: 00PM, which I understand completely is necessary because often patrons don’t keep track of the time, but he reminded us constantly and asked us to move at 7: 45PM and it detracted from our experience, as we couldn’t relax as much as we would’ve liked. Again, fully understand we had a shorter booking window, and it probably did call for a bit more urgency to get through our food / drinks (we did order straight away) but it was a little over the top. Having said all that I want to emphasise how beautiful the cuisine was and the gorgeous wine and atmosphere! I’d never been before and absolutely loved the place. We were offered two seats in front of the fire after our table booking and it was so cosy drinking our wine near the flames. Have already recommended Neighbourhood Wine to friends and family.

I’ve been here for a few meals as I’m close by. The Sunday Roast is ok and all my meals have been good but never great. It’s pretty pricey for the quality of what they are putting up.
The service has been mixed, some staff seem pretty uninterested.
The outside of the building looks like an abandoned squat. I don’t understand why they don’t have the horrible graffiti removed, it’s a blot on the neighbourhood and I’ve never taken out of town guests there for that reason.

This is the sort of place that I would like to take friends from overseas to. It should be the archetype for everything good in Melbourne.

I was going to give this place a 5 after only sitting outside but once I went inside it was set. A very good restaurant. A gem to be honest. The food incredible, the wine amazing, and the staff very friendly. I love on the south and am jealous a place this good doesn’t exist in my neighbourhood. This place is so good it make you want to leave your neighbourhood to be near it. Honestly is there a higher complement.

Great ambience, not so great everything else. Service was short and unfriendly - they forgot part of our order. Dishes were hit and miss, overall nothing too special for the price.

The food here is on the expensive side but the staff were friendly and the drinks menu was expansive. The atmosphere was also lovely and warm.

I unfortunately had a bad experience with their steak. I ordered it Medium-rare but it came out cooked unevenly, rare-blue in the center of the steak with only the outside edges were actually medium-rare. It was very gamey and chewy and was absolutely covered with the sauce that overwhelmed the taste of the actual steak.

Thankfully they were happy to take it off our bill when it was sent back. Lot's of professionalism was displayed by the staff. May return there again.

I was waiting 1 hour for 2 plates.
They accept their mistake as was kitchens false.after that I was waiting 20 more min for the second plate.
We just left as I felt embarrassed to wait more for a plate.
Unfortunately they will never see me again.

We had a long day & showed up without a booking on a Friday evening, they went out of their way to fit us in.
The service on both the food & the wine was absolutely amazing, honestly we’re still sitting at the table & are excited to come back.
The range of wine is vast & the waitresses knowledge on such wines was equally as impressive (Mel).
Music and ambiance was also a vibe

Great Saturday lunch options. The wine list was fairly extensive, although those wines available by the glass were more limited but still appreciated by those who ordered them.

Immaculate vibes! Fantastic food and wine selection, the company was even better! Love Amelia and Conor, very lovely, friendly and amazing at doing what they do! 10/10 recommend!

Was really expecting this place to be great, however the food was a let down and service was really poor. Ambience is really nice and warm however nothing special here. Mains was below average in taste and the waiter was not friendly or helpful. Would recommend going elsewhere where you can get both good wines and good food for better value

Great atmosphere, lovely food and great service. Wait staff were knowledgeable and professional, while relaxed and friendly. Definitely worth the visit.

Really underwhelmed by the food and overall experience. Prices are reasonable but not for what you’re getting. Had the anchovy, peach cracker (if the peach was sweet it may have been balanced) the rump, tagliatelle and potatoes. Really wanted to love this place but yeah nah. Service was also pretty average. Wine list was great and reasonably priced.

Excellent food with adequate measured quantity. Great Ambience and service. Must visit for varieties.

A lovely night. I'm very pleased to say after not having been for many years due to consecutive poor experiences, that the team did an amazing job on both the service and quality side. Thank you.

It's gone downhill. Used to be one of my favourite local spots, but the last 2 times I've been it's been disappointing with every person being underwhelmed by at least one of their courses. Not that the food was bad, but not worth the price or high expectations.

We were really excited to dine here after a while being in lockdown. We had great experience in the past. Unfortunately, the food quality and taste was underwhelming. We ordered slow cook lamb, artichoke, canederli. The slow cook lamb was good but nothing special, artichoke and Italian dumplings were below average- I even found egg shells in one of my Italian dumplings. We thought we could cook better than them.

Great drink selections and service are wonderful and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and an open fire place. Well done to all the front staff. I would have given 2 star if it's not for the service.

Excellent food and wine, amazing vibe and friendly staff. Highly recommend this local gem. I bring all my friends and visiting family here.
