Neighbourhood Wine reviews
69Beautiful venue and great service. Unfortunately I thought the food was a bit lack lustre and didn’t hit the mark. It looked better than it tasted and was a bit bland
We had the long lunch with unlimited house wine last weekend and it did not disappoint. The dining room is gorgeous, service friendly and authentic and the vibe was everything we look for in a neighbourhood wine bar. We both loved how the wine came out in jugs so there was no issue getting refills, and the food service was well timed over the 2 hour sitting. The food was great and accommodated my wife’s fish aversion. Great value and $110 a head and a wonderful experience that we will surely be back for.
Had a lovely time at Neighbourhood Wine very attentive staff, delicious food with a forward thinking menu, and extensive wine list. Cosy yet bustling recommend the burnt honeycake with ricotta icecream, yum!
Really disappointed with my last visit here. Used to rave about this being my favorite restaurant in the world, but now I’m not so sure. Both the service and food were off. Perhaps a bad night?
First time at Neighbourhood Wine and disappointed overall with the experience.
Positives
- Staff were friendly.
- The venue had a cosy feel to it.
Negatives
- Charge fine dining prices and deliver small portions, poor value for money. Left the venue still wanting more and I don't have a big appetite.
- Wine by the glass is expensive and yet served at 120ml, while most other venues serve at least 150ml per glass. In my opinion this is just plain stingy especially when they are charging $20+ per glass for some of the wines.
- Big focus of the wine list is minimial interventionlist, skin contact whites and organic wines. Would have liked a more balanced wine list as myself and people with me don't always want to drink those styles.
Overall it was a shame the place was a let down. Rather than sticking around Neighbourhood Wine we paid and walked down to another venue to have drinks.
Undercooked veg, overpriced and out of touch menu that just lists ingredients and poorly. As a cook, I would never return to this establishment. If you think this is a culinary experience, your a nonce.
Visited Neighbourhood Wine for a friends event and it was a great place to visit. Such a nice, relaxed vibe. The wines are amazing and they have a great selection available. I can’t wait to go back for a bite to eat and try the sharing plates!
Had a lovely time here enjoying the delicious food, tasty wine and great interior. The wine list is fantastic, and the staff were extremely helpful. Looking forward to visiting again soon!
Exceptional dining experience, catering for all dietary requirements providing all with an enjoyable culinary experience
It was a little tough to find as a tourist, managed to hunt it down through a little entry way up to the second storey.
It was a real surprise that a quint English inspired restaurant takes up such a magnificent space, once you left the bar and found your way into the dining area. Love the deco and the ceiling height. Does feel really homely.
Food was good, price is on the higher side, sadly, did not try the steak. = (
Hope to try it again when come back to Fitzroy
Cape Grim Steak hanger was cooked perfectly! Best steak we've had in a while. Other items on the menu were really well balanced and thought out. Wait staff were very attentive - remembered who had sparkling who had tap. Food did take a bit longer to come out but given this was at 4 o'clock, couldn't expect any faster. Loved the ambience of the place with occasional crackle and pop of the record! Lovely night out.
Had the most amazing experience here. Tom helped us out with our wine selection, he was extremely knowledgeable with the food and drinks menu and really made the evening so special
Food and wine were superb
Would give this place zero stars if I could. Waitress was drunk (she said so herself) and forgot multiple items on our order, it made the meal feel quite disjointed.
Food was good I won’t deny that but what followed next completely ruined the entire dinner for us.
When we went to pay we asked if we could split the bill the waitress said you can split it yourself and sort of through the machine onto the table and just left. The card machine timed out and she accused us on not paying. There were two POC in our group, myself being of them, to say that we did not want to pay is completely out of line, the intention of her comment landed, we felt demeaned and profiled. Afterwards we spoke to management and they just laughed.
It is such a shame as this was a birthday dinner for my sister and I wanted her to feel special, I know she left feeling anything but.
Visited this spot recently for dinner. It’s got some eclectic, unique dishes and well put together dishes. Go with it and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Totally enjoyed it. Incredible wine list. Fabulous service. Great ambience.
A very special place. Food was exceptional from the very first bite. This is a kitchen that knows it's business. Reminded me of the best places I have been in France. Wine list is interesting and a challenge, but nice that there are so many wines by the glass. I can't wait to return even though I have to fight traffic all the way across town! This place is sooo worth it!
We are very unhappy with our meal and the service today. There were some lovely staff there but we had the displeasure of being served by a woman who did not want to acknowledge our existence. The experience felt more like a Karen’s restaurant. The wagyu cracker was great but the Yorkshire pudding with the roast meal was on the brink of being burnt and not gooey on the inside. The roast potatoes were pre roasted and reheated and dry as hell. The Tirimasu was nothing to rave about, tasted like all the espresso liquid was just poured over. Would not recommend and feel like it was a wasted meal out and overcharged for what it was. Take it from us, we are chefs.
The place has great dining potential and it was a shame to have that experience but it should deliver a consistent standard.
Cosy place, hidden in the second floor. A good surprise with fine wine, realy great dishes to share (or not) and a good service.
I realy spend a great time
Love this place. The food, wine and service are impeccable. Dined here a few times to celebrate special occasions, the long lunch is amazing. The wait staff are always so knowledgeable and attentive.
One of the best experience I had in a long time.
Food is perfect
Wine list worked properly
Staff is the nicest you can find
And in addition they make they own limoncello
Food was tasty. Great drinks list. The portions were sooo tiny! Cool place and concept, but not great value for money.
