It wasn’t quite pleasant to end up a day out with friends with sort of a rude winery experience. No I’m not complaining about the location or menu, but about their service at the cellar door. Not only we had to wait more than 50 minutes to get four pizzas, which they promised to give in 45, we were given a side dish instead of one pizza. When we inquired about this, they didn’t accept their mistake and then we had to ask for the receipt which finally made them realise the fault and gave us one more extra pizza. The lady who did the mistake didn’t even bother to apologise nor said anything which is the exhausting part. Pizza are quite pricey, not worthy enough on size and toppings.

Have had both dinner and lunch here on many occasions and we are never disappointed with the quality of the food.

From the wine list the Pinot Gris is my favourite

We had a very pleasant lunch at Mount Macedon Winery restaurant. The staff gave us a warm greeting and service was always prompt, friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a nice view overlooking the grapevines on one side and the the countryside on the other. The menu offered some good choices. We particularly enjoyed the sticky lamb shoulder main course. We tasted a flight of 4 wines that were OK but also ordered a glass of the shiraz which I thought was the best of the wines we tasted.

The restaurant area is a great barn experience and the thing I love most is they have really thought about noise control. It is very easy to have a conversation and hear everyone even when the restaurant is full of people.

Went to MMW for dinner and I would highly recommend it to family and friends. Beautiful ground and restaurant and the food was perfect. The staff are extremely friendly and come by often, so if you ever need another drink, you have plenty of opportunity to grab another.

Went in to do some wine tasting at the cellar door however it is more of a casual dining place than a cellar door. We were steered towards their tasting paddle, $16 per paddle not redeemable on purchase of a bottle. The pours were much more generous though than if you were at other cellar doors, much larger than 'tastings'. There were descriptions of the wines on the paddle. Unsure if there were staff to talk to about the wines, vines, vintages etc.

Absolutely out of. Lunch gathering of 25 people and everyone and I mean everyone was amazed with the food and the staff. We will definitely return again and again

Not sure if $16 for a wine tasting paddle is a post covid price (this was before the public holiday surcharge was added) but it seems a little dear for four tiny glasses of wine. On our way out we were chased and questioned as to whether we had paid for our tasting too. Didn't get to try the food but will probably not return.

The food and hospitality was fantastic. 2020 Pinot Noir was magnificent. Great natural setting tastefully setup in the environment. Looking forward to returning. Highly recommend.

I had absolutely the worst winery experience here
1. We ordered 4 pizzas (Mushroom pizza $26,2 x Chorizo Pizzas $52, King Prawn pizza $28), one was priced average $26.25 which was way expensive for a 1 feet diameter pizza.
2. We waited 45 mins for four pizzas to arrive.
3. They promised to call our name when the order is ready, which didn't happen. We waited about 50 mins and pizzas were lyning on the desk.
4. Order was wrongly prepared, they gave 3 pizzas and one king prawn side dish ($18) instead of king prawn pizza.
5. When we questioned, they argued back the order was correctly prepared. When we ask for the bill they provided a bill lathergically and we pointed out they have charged $24 for the side dish too. THEY ADMITTED THEY DID THE MISTAKE BUT DID NOT APPOLOGISE, INSTEAD CAME WITH AND JOKE LIKE EXPLAINING. We were in hungry so we requested to correct the mistake by giving the correct order. The front lady told they no longer prepare King Prawn pizzas but the small lad who bakes them provided a delicious pizza in 5 mins.
Thank you for atleast giving us the correct order.
Sorry, we are not recommending this place to any known person.

Loved it. The staff were super friendly, the food was incredible and simply melted in your mouth. A great list of drinks with plenty of local wines and other options. I would definitely go back again.

Mt Macedon winery didn’t disappoint, the food, the venue, the staff and the view were all worthy and an especially exciting part of our lunch was seeing Dylan Grimes as both my husband and I love the Richmond Tigers

Cellar door has a lovely modern setup. Wine was delicious and we ordered a few glasses between us (noticed they have a cute tasting selection paddle).
We got a cheese selection too and it was so tasty.
We did go there because it said it was pet friendly but they didn’t allow dogs in the cellar door which then meant we couldn’t stay as long as we’d have liked.

Did a wine tasting of 5 wines served on a board for $16.4 whites and 1 red. We arrived at 2pm and the food had run out, which I totally appreciate considering issues facing hospitality since lockdown ended. Staff were lovely, and explained the situation. The lesson from this is to book far in advance in future.

Staff on the day were just amazing - attentive, polite and always a step ahead. They really made sure we didn't have to worry about anything. We will definitely be back for lunch or dinner:)

This is my favourite winery in Australia (and I've been to a lot!).
We are lucky enough to live a short (e) bike ride away. Every time we visit the winery and restaurant it just get better.

The Food

We've worked our way through the menu (starts, mains, sides and deserts!) and all the wines. I have no idea who the Chef is but the food he/she produces is off the highest quality and beautifully presented - a perfect balance between detail and function. I love everything on the menu, but am a big fan of the Beef fillet and the charcuterie plate with the pork rillette. It's a tough decision each time we go as what to eat. The wines are all fantastic; I like to start off with the Estate Grown Sparking, move onto the either the Pinot Gris or Chardonnay and finish a couple of glasses of the Pinot Noir (or maybe squeeze in a Rose before hand). If I'm having a cheese plate, then a final glass of Shiraz (all glass sizes are 250ml unless otherwise stated: D)

Oh, and they use Motobean (just up the road in Malmsbury - shout out to Motobean!) for coffee, so don't forget to order a piccolo!

The People

Wonderful people, everyone who works there. It's been tough during Covid but the staff have worked miracles. Everyone is friendly, exceptional at what they do and always on hand to bring you wine. I don't think I've ever had to wait or call someone over - they are always on hand to look after you. Service is always great, friendly and prompt. Nothing is too much trouble.

We eventually got to use it when my brother came down from Canberra. It was lovely, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic, wonderful.and delicious
