Misoya Sake Bar reviews
79Cozy place in Sydney Road, the ramen was really good we ordered creamy chicken and the mizoya ramen. The gyosas were full of flavour also
Very loud and squashed in experience. New covid measures just came in today and yet it's okay for a stranger on a date to be seated next to you, and another stranger seated opposite - all of us on the same table whilst the restaurant is mostly empty. Despite the emptiness, it was very very loud with only two others patrons chatting and laughing at another table. Then I order a vegan meal, and I'm asked if I'm okay with the miso soup as it has fish stock in (good pick up but them) - I politely declined - but then I get charged an extra dollar for having the vegan option. Doesn't make any sense. Pay for more to get less.
Five stars quality authentic Japanese food! I've been looking for REAL Japanese food on Sydney rd and finally found one!
Ramen broth is super tasty and you wouldn regret ordering. Also Lunch special has great value to it.
Overall highly recommended.
Went here on recommendation from a Japanese friend for the agedashi tofu, which we tried and was good albeit small for $9. Ordered the vegan miso ramen which was very disappointing, $19 for no flavour of miso, no saltiness and no tofu/protein (was literally rice noodles, fried onion and some uncooked veg, like what am I paying $19 for?).
And unlike most Japanese restaurants we had to ask for the traditional Japanese seasonings.
This was a disappointing experience when there are so many other Japanese restaurants in Melbourne that make amazing food that’s not overpriced or lacking flavour.
If you’re vegan give this place a MISS don’t waste your money. I won’t be going back again.
4 stars due to the service. Karage was awesome, the cheesecake was light and fluffy. Ramen broth maybe not to my liking, a little too light. Food service pace could be better planned, my friend's curry rice only came after we have all finished our food. Do make a reservation or you will leave disappointed
Really nice vibe, friendly staff.friends ordered chicken miso I had vego miso.mine tasted extremely bland and was not worth the $23 at all.my friends say the chicken miso was alright but tasted a bit fishy.might visit again as the atmosphere was very nice and good location
I think this place needs to introduce pork based ramen. Chicken based isn’t traditional at all. I would rather go into the city next time.
The ramen here is good not the best I’ve had but the broth is flavourful and creamy. The pork however is chewy and has a boiled feel to it. The noodles are always cooked to my liking, chewy so that’s a bonus. I also enjoy adding the level 2 spice to my ramen. Overall it’s good but not great.
Food was good but they need to pay more attention to customer service and not talk amongst each other socially at the cash register when it's quiet. We waited to be served longer than usual and it was annoying turning around a few times to be acknowledged.
Tldr: the ramen is so rich in flavour and the croquettes here are so crispy.
A nice restaurant with a long sharing table and separate tables. The friendliest staff and warm ambiance.
The iced matcha latte with icecream was very refreshing. Not too sweet with a smoothie texture.
Veggie croquette has a most perfect pocket with a crisp batter with mashed potato filling that was flavourful with some veggies. The sauce added a light tangy taste.
The misoya special ramen is one of their signature ramens. Strong hearty broth with tender pork belly.
Creamy chicken ramen has a thick flavourful broth which was full of collagen. The eggs were perfectly cooked and ramen noodles were the right texture and taste. The pork belly in both ramens were fatty in a good way and the meat was so tender it broth so easily. We ordered the ramen with additional corn which added a sweetness to the dish.
They said they stopped taking food orders at 8: 30,1.5 hours before closed. Was hoping for a quick meal but was turned away despite going off their website time. Not too enthusiastic on the attitude either.
Simple cooking with great flavours. Good vegan options. Formal seating plus some high communal benches. Room out the back yard as well. Quite a small place so book on the busy nights. Staff are great. Ramen is a very good choice and there are some different things to try on the menu. A good place to visit, and you will come back too.
Loved the VEGAN ramen and the sake here! We also tried Dengaku and Agedashi tofu which was amazing:)
Service was great too!
Agedashi tofu and vegan pancakes were tasty. Vegan ramen and soba were pretty bland. Found a small rock in my ramen bowl somehow
Beautiful Ramen. Ordered the Miyosa special ramen.super tasty! Really recommend this place. We will be back for more!
Went there last Friday. Best experience ever in a Japanese restaurant. Loved the food and loved the service.
Nice little place, excellent food and amazing classic Japanese friendly service. Sooooo delicious
The good news is, the ramen is good!
But a few things to improve
1- Service speed
Roughly takes 30 mins to have a bowl of ramen ready, not sure how the chef is prepping the meals
2- Seatings
That long table is the odd one out, sitting at that table feels weird.
3- The miso mayo dip, I think that should be off the menu, imagine trying to fit a large slice of raw cabbage into a finger cup of mayo.and the dish itself just does not make sense. I was expecting better style of Japanese salad.
Very nice ramen, and a great all round atmosphere for the restaurant. Friendly staff, and the food came out quite fast. Would definitely come back here to try some more food. I got the Chicken Ramen and would recommend it.
I think this might be the most tasty ramen I've had in all of Melbourne so far. The broth is from another planet (Japanicus IV - Karaagetron System) and pouring it into your face hole is like pashing your lover for the first time.
