Mile End Bagels reviews
66Received our order without any delicious cheesecake. Very disappointed. Also no ice in one of the iced coffee's. No ice!? It's an iced coffee! If you want to order your bagels from the circus, this is the place
If you are expecting New York style chewy, doughy bagels from this place, you will be disappointed. Best bagels in Melbourne can be found at 5 & dime bagels imho.
Excellent bagels. Hearty, chewy, malty, and flavourful. And not fluffy.exactly how an authentic bagel should be. And the Only Cheesecake (a Basque variety). Superb!
Used to be a good store until they referred to Australia Day as 'invasion day'
Just another over opinionated divisive organisation.
Amazing bagels, these guys went the distance and even got a Montreal oven. The cheesecake is an out of sight addition to the menu, best in town!
Fantastic experience! With an extensive but not overwhelming menu, Mile End Bagels offer an exciting range to choose from. Will certainly be back soon.
Today after a simple name mix-up someone accidentally took our order. They responded so well by making our original order speedily and generously compensating which was so kind. We’ve always been impressed with their service and the amazing product but today they took it to the next level. Thanks Mile End team!
I was surprised how good these bagels are - very similar to St Viateur in Montreal. As others have said, they are a bit overpriced, but it's a bit silly to compare prices to another country. These guys must be paying almost double in rent and wages compared to Montreal. I would've given this 5 stars, if it wasn't for the rude staff member there. When he asked me what type of cream cheese I wanted (there were no flavours on the menu), I said 'I dunno. Philadelphia? He laughed at me and said 'Yeah, we don't sell philadelphia here' like I was some kind of lower class cretin. Does he know that that's what 90% of Montreallers eat with their bagels? And the cream cheese they sell in the actual Mile End?
Mile End Bagels is a seriously solid establishment. Amazing bagels, with a broad range of filling options to suit anybody. It is super busy on weekends, getting a spot to dine in can be tricky. But popping in to take away bagels is very doable. Would highly recommend experiencing what they have to offer.
Great bagels, taste just like the Montreal ones (says a Montrealer). And the best priced coffee in Melbs!
A+ sexy af bagels. Never disappoints, like 15 different kinds to choose from, great veggie options, cream cheese out the wazoo, tasty as.
My favourite bagel spot in Melbourne. All the food tastes fresh and delicious and everything is very affordable. Really enjoy the venue with the very open environment.
Dense but fluffy bagels. A staple for the locals of the inner North for brekkies, brunches and lunches. A good place to meet for coffees. They do takeaway in case you need to impress for a party or work function.
Being from Canada and having lived with people from Montreal, I can safely say these are as authentic as you can get outside of Montreal!
I ordered the 'Ham off the bone' and a large iced coffee to go. The bagel is absolutely delicious with generous filling and quality ingredients. The staff are very welcoming and friendly with a warm and slight alternative vibe (perfect for Fitzroy). Iced coffee is served in boba style cups (sealed top) which is absolutely genius! No spills and no hassles.
The only improvements are some better cooling within the building (as it' getting into summer) and a more organised way to order. It was kind of confusing who was looking, who was ordering, who was waiting etc.
Overall, I LOVED this place!
Fantastic bagels and coffee
Also, they have an awesome deal if you're a film photography enthusiast!
I may be from the States but I'm now a convert to Montreal-style bagels. They have such an amazing flavour and texture thanks to being woodfired. I enjoyed an everything spread with dill and caper cream cheese (capers are such a great addition), tomato and red onion. Congrats to Mile End for making (imho) the best bagels in Melbourne.
Mile End was a stellar introduction to Montreal-style bagels! Reasonably priced sandwiches with delectable fillings made for a perfect Saturday breakfast. Sometime I’ll have to get there early enough for a truly fresh bagel experience. NOTE: don’t make a visit expecting NYC-style bagels! Montreal bagels are more dense with a slight sweetness, delicious but not identical to a New York bagel. Will be back for more!
Just wish this place and staff where in Sydney. Great food, service and music.very chilled. Glad we couldnt get into Lune.
