A huge thanks to Subhash and the Service Team. Dropped my car off and was back at home in a loan vehicle within 30 minutes. Car was fixed by midday. Subhash was also great at explaining the issue and was so organised and pleasant to deal with. Thank you!

What exceptional service we received from Josh. Very professional and polite, as were the rest of the team.

We had a terrible experience at another dealership, but here we were made to feel welcome.

Cannot recommend this dealership and its staff highly enough. Thank you.

Had my car serviced with the team at Melbourne city and had an absolute 10/10 experience.
Ellie made me feel super comfortable and welcome.

I Had a couple of on going issues left over from a different dealer and they fixed it right up for me. Very happy:)

Worst experience ever! Avoid this place! Extremely rude staff and very bad attitudes! Non existent customer service, made me feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Was also told my car was not priority as it wasn’t the newest model. Pathetic

Edit, again LR charged and didn’t fix the original ongoing problem and playing with lives in an extremely unsafe vehicle. Absolutely worse car, horrible service and money pit! Do not buy! Never ever had problems like this with Merc, BMW Or Toyota.

Absolutely worse car and worse service! I wouldn’t even recommend to my worse enemy. I was told not to buy a Land Rover as many people in my office had terrible experiences. In the 20 years of owning Mercedes and BMW I’ve never had an experience near this. In a period of approx. 1 year the car had broken down for the same issue multiple times and each time lengthy waits for repairs, disgusting service where I have requested head office or another LR repairer, tens of thousands worth a fraction of the cars value and I’m now facing the same problem again and again only to be told they can only look at it when they have time in another month. I’ve had it towed in many times and RACV rescues many times, once while away on holiday. The car gets driven a couple times a week and is just a money pit. Absolutely the worse car ever. I’ve had more times spent in a repairs and service at LR than in my entire years of owning vehicles. The biggest piece of junk! I have expressed I do not feel safe driving it especially at high speed or when changing gears and the car turned off while driving at 90kms but was told I can bring it in next month. I feel my words are disrespectful disregarded as a woman. Regrets every day! Do not buy a Land Rover was the advice I ignored and now I’m regretting!

I would definitely recommend Josh at Melbourne City Land Rover. He is passionate about his work and goes over and beyond with his service to ensure the customer understands everything about the vehicle. Very prompt and professional service. I will be highly recommending him to family and friends for their purchases!

I took my car to this dealer and they charged me $1750 and they said everything was checked and its ok.i specifically asked them to check my tyres.they confirmed that it is ok.when i got my car back the tyres still had issue but i didnt took it back to them due too being time consuming.after 3 month i received a warning that my car requires service again.when i took that back, they said the tyre is puncher and require another service and were about to charge me more than $2000.i took it to mechanic and apparently they didnt do proper service and didnt even check the tyre.this is terrible.

Great sales experience, after sales Service & customer service experience ordinary, Land Rover reliability woeful!

I’ve updated my original 5 star review to better reflect my overall experience at MLC.

We have had various issues with our Land Rover discovery sport since purchase;

-Advertised 34,000km service interval unable to be met due to low oil viscosity.

- DPF has blocked multiple times without warning, the last of which resulted in vehicle being towed to dealership & our family of 5 being left without a vehicle until a loan car could be organised.

Both the MLC service department & Land Rover Australia customer service conveniently blame these issues on “driving style” - or ordinary driving throughout metropolitan areas.

If your not bothered by unreliability, low resale value or having your car towed to a dealership frequently then Land Rover is the manufacturer for you. Otherwise buy elsewhere.

Original review;
Highly recommend! We dealt with Andreas throughout the purchase of our new Land Rover, we found his friendly approach made our experience smooth and trouble free. The information provided was relevant to our situation and showed he had listened to our needs and requirements. We are very happy with our new car and look forward to dealing with MLR in the future.

Avoid Buying A Range Rover!
I found Landrover Port Melbourne to have a really poor attitude with my car just over a year old & under warranty. Staff are happy to take your money but simply don’t provide a good after service guys!
I complained to Shannon at head office in Sydney and it took her a week to respond. Then again, I had to call her!

I wish I could give them the zero stars, I bought a brand new Range rover sport from them in late 2019, their service and care has never been good, my car has broken down twice before, they do not give you a loan car and you have to keep calling them as if they are doing you a favour. The customer care is very very poor.
This time
My car broke down due to overheating yesterday, range rover assist aswell as range rover port Melbourne were extremelyunhelpful.call the gm for assistance he is never available, they told me they have a shortage of cars and I have to organise my own transport. And offered me a mitsubishi after 3 days my car is broken down, they also told me they dont know if their is a difference between Mitsubishi and Rangerover!
When you go buy the car at a premium price they would promise you the world but once you have the car they don't provide any care, after sale service is the worst I have ever seen. I would not recommend any one here to buy a car or to go for a service here. The staff is also very unhelpful and talk to you like they are doing you a big favour.

Andrew the Gm tries to call and a very unethical and a very unhelpful person. Keep away from him at any cost.
And the marketing manager aswell says alot but no follow up or care and only make things harder with nothing done.

They are also good at forcing people to give them a five star review while their service level is zero star.

The service department aswell treat you like they are doing you a favour as the service is included in the price, and make you feel like if you paid them they would do a better job, they also try to still charge you for small small things eventhough the promise in the beginning no charges for service.

They are total time wasters.

I honestly regret spending close to 200k on this car and will never think of buying a rangrover sport again from the city land rover or may be just Change to a bmw with a much better customer service

Took my husbands car in to get serviced today and was told we would be charged $980.after we were told when we brought not one but two range rovers that we would be part of a corporate package which included BOTH cars for free servicing, took my car no problems but the package hadn’t been added to my husbands due to it being a demo model despite being told by the sales rep who no longer works for them (anything to finalise a sale of two cars on the one day his lucky day I’m sure) both cars would be apart of this package. The GM of the department called me to tell me there is “no evidence” of that conversation taking place and there is nothing they can do apart for us pay for today and future services and as I run through my sales paper work there is no evidence of one car being a part of it and one not.
I’m extremely disappointed in the lack customer service displayed today there was simply no res solution aside from the fact of it’s my word against a computer that hasn’t had our package added, anything could of happened within there company by them not applying the package to our car at the time and now we have to suffer and pay $980 due to there negligence. Not happy at all.
Was made out like I was trying to lie to them to get something for nothing. But I’m sure if you were told you would get something and then you hadn’t your not going to be happy so I have had no choice but ti escalate the matter.

It's a known issue but, NOT covered by Warranty, what the!

Goodness me, this is not good at all, the boot opened, made a crunching and grinding noise and broke the top plastic panel on the roof exterior, the boot would then not open or close properly, it was out of alignment.

The car was still under warranty so I took it back to the dealer and asked for it to be repaired, a fair request I would have thought but oh no, not at all.

The dealer told me that this was a known issue, But that its not covered under warranty! What the!

After lots of complaining they said they would realign the boot door but not repair the broken plastics, Well great, now that’s what I call warranty and good service, NOT!

While I'm on the subject of reviewing this car, lets go a bit further and I will share my thoughts on some of the issues

1 – Very poor soundproofing, its like driving in a tin can
2 – Dangerous turbo lag, many a close call has been had while waiting for the power to come online
3 – Warranty is not worth the paper its written on
4 – Bit’s fall of the car i.e. Windscreen side panels
5 – Loud and rattily motor
6 – rear boot door alignment goes out regularly, its clearly too heavy for the mounting brackets
7 - Reverse camera is low definition and fisheye to boot, accuracy is measured in feet whereas my Lexus was millimetre perfect
8 - The computer / infotainment system often takes several minutes to start, I usually am a block away before its all started, this of course means no reverse camera, maps, phone, radio etc

Please note that the dealer reached out and we had a good chat about my experience and will get together to review the car.

I am happy with the dealer, its more of a product issue that I and the dealer have to deal with.

I have to say my experience with MCLR and Land Rover product in general is both unprofessional and dangerous.
I have owned 12 Land Rovers over the past 30 years and always been a lovey comfortable prestige vehicle. My wife and I purchased a new 2016 RR Sport from MLR and from day one it's been a lemon. The way Land Rovers deal with diesel fuel emissions is crazy. The car stops without warning to 20km on freeways, intersections anywhere when the emission box is full. This happens at least once to twice per year. Land Rover says you need to drive the vehicle over 80kmph at least once per month for 30 minutes to burn the emissions correctly. We drive to our beach house every Friday night doing far more km than required to be told by the dealer. "You just purchased the wrong vehicle, your bad choice"
We purchased a RR for our families safety but never again. I have spoken to both management at MCLR and Land Rover Australia with absolutely lip service and no action. Lovely people but useless when there are serious issues.
I welcome their comments below but again I will respond publicly until our matter is resolved. The safety and finances of other families are more important than just our outcome.

Reply to Shaneet from Dave Ellis.

Thank you Shaneet my details are available
at the service department and your general manager and CEO have spoken to me multiple times with Zero outcome. With all respect why do you now want to talk to me and how will things
change when my wife was told she purchased the wrong vehicle by the Manager. I understand multiple extremely wealthy people have had their diesels swapped over to petrol by Land Rover due to this dangerous issue.

Regards
Dave Ellis.

I have had three cars from these guys going back ten years. Whilst there have been one or two bright spots (like the service guy who delivered my wife's Freelander to our home after the service took a day longer than expected) recent experience hasn't been good. A couple of examples. The Freelander is 11 years old and has never given us any trouble but I was told on having delivered the car for the last service it would need a recommended engine check and part replacement that would take three days and cost $3000+. In the old days, when you booked the car in with qualified mechanics that would have been picked up when I phoned to book it in but now, with unqualified receptionists, it wasn't and it would have been nice to know in advance. One of these receptionists recommended a web site for a SatNav update disc which was from a supplier that had a NSW government warning associated with fraud!

So, if I love Land Rovers and Range Rovers so much (and I do), why am I now driving an Audi? This comes back to one of the sales team who, when I was trying to cost a replacement for my 7 year old RR Sport, flatly refused to spend ten minutes with me on a costing for a Discovery 2020 spec because the car I was to buy would have been a 2021. It was admitted that prices would be similar and such a quote might have given me the guide I needed to tip me into an order. Then, despite having bought three cars previously and spent thousands on servicing, the 'deal' this person offered amounted to a $2000 loyalty discount on a $150,000 car!

The Freelander has been up for replacement for a while now and when I can get my wife to part with it, we'll probably head to the Audi Centre again.those guys really understand customer service.
