Melba Restaurant

I went for my birthday dinner. The decoration was amazing but the food there especially seafoods tasted disgusting. I’m not too sure if they have washed the raw oyster after they open it. The sashimi and prawns were not fresh. Octopus sashimi was pretty dry. Other foods are ok but considering the price, not worth.

Over priced for what you got. Also you were asked today wear a mask and sanatis your hands ever time you went to the buffet but was never followed up on

I can’t wait to come here again. Every year I look forward to coming here for a feast! Their sashimi is fresh and their nhann bread is amazing.

Very disappointed with the service and food in this place. The only decent food here was seafood, the rest was just horrible, it was either overcooked (obviously re-used) or tasteless. Desserts were unfresh, in fact they were so old and dry I could barely chew through them, the only fresh one was pavlova. We paid 140$ per person and got unfresh food and rude service. Most of the staff had no manners (especially the guy at the counter), they were disrespectful and ignorant.
I will not be back.

Food amazing. Unlimited lobster tails which are juicy, tender and fresh. Unlike Crown buffet only offer 1 lobster tail per person at extra cost. Oysters fresh and big. Staff very attentive and empty dishes on table cleared immediately. Feel safe with all stations manned by chefs who plate the food for us with additional staff ensuring diners walk one direction to keep everyone safe and orderly. Desserts are top quality, especially the matcha cake. Although food and staff efficiency at top level, the place looks the same for many years. Maybe it is always busy and high demand every night, finding a time to renovate can be challenging and left as it is? Regardless, still a buffet 'must go' institution in Melbourne.

They bent over backwards to accommodate my Kosher food requirements! Lovely environment and view!

Very expensive for the very average quality of food. No issues with the service but staff not friendly with no smiles. Nice views though!

Definitely not recommend:
- Poor customer service
- Sashimi Master has very bad altitude, he was like throwing food into my plate even I asked for it very politely
- Food was ok, most of them are still frozen

The visit was disappointed, food area is also small, not too many choices. Paid a big amount and nothing amaze me except staff altitude. Never gonna come back to this place

Mostly great food. The lobster was a little tough and dry, however the seafood was fresh and the desserts are amazing.

The buffet is very well known, and the for the price, I was expecting more. I found the sashimi bar to be fantastic, but otherwise there was really a lack of variety available in hot dishes.

Just finished buffet this Sunday nite, nothing to eat, not even oyster, not much dish, not worth for $99, I could spend only $29 in any other cheap Asian buffet! Rather go to dockland buffet, china bar, or crown.

For me, seafood heaven. Those accompanying me loved everything else. And we had the most adorable waiter ever. Will definitely go back. Excellent value for money.

The melba resturaunt has a really nice clean and stylish atmosphere. The view is very beautiful and the walk in entrance to the melba is spectacular.
The buffet had a lot to offer, seafood, Italian pastas and salads, indian cuisine and a delicious dessert variety including a chocolate fountain! Lovely staff and service!

Was there for the late supper. Whilst the spread was limited, the food was ok and the service attentive. Not all the items advertised was available. The venue however was stunning.

Food quality are just average and variety (not much to choose from) remains the same after my 3 visits within 6 years time.

Incredible experience for NYE18. We attended the Pre-Theatre Dinner as part of a package at the Langham, and couldn't have been happier. The food was absolutely delicious (only wish I had a second stomach!) and service exceptional. Highly recommended experience for anyone looking to spoil themselves. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent, but there was quite a long line to actually get a table when we arrived at 10am. That said, we stayed at the Langham and did have a note in our room suggesting we head to breakfast before 8: 30am to avoid a queue. The fresh fruit juice bar was a highlight of breakfast, as well as the fresh honeycomb! Thank you Melba, for a wonderful two day dining experience.

I would give a 5-star rating for excellent service. We were shown to a table beside the window and we were given a gift as well to mark the special occasion we were celebrating. The staff were nice, friendly and attentive. Special mention goes to Jasmine for the excellent care and attention she gave us. The buffet and its cooking stations showed a nice sampling of cuisines but we found the flavors a little on the bland side, and we couldn't help but feel a little disappointed because we were expecting a bit more oomph for the price that we were paying for the meal. Full praise for their pastry chef though, the dessert station has a good selection of delicious cakes and other sweet treats.

This is a premium dinner option in the heart of the heart of Southgate. Great service and a wide selection from the dinner buffet. The Indian dishes were the highlight for me, also the broad range of desserts. And excellent, personalised service.
One oddity though, we'd made a booking and was told only a 5: 00pm slot was available, so that's when we went. But the restaurant seemed empty when we arrived and only half full when we left at 7.30pm. Not sure why.
