Melba Restaurant reviews
77 MY FAVOURITE RESTAURANT!
I come here every year especially on my birthday and other special occasion. My most favourite is the Indian section where they make the Roti in front of you. It's warm, delicious and personalised! All the cuisines taste authentic which I love. I love interactive cooking and they don't disappoint. The chefs can cook your pasta, noodles or steak in front of you and to your liking!
The seafood is always fresh and all the other dishes are topnotch. I took my parents with us for my birthday in August and they loved the baked lobster tail.
Staff are wonderful, welcoming and professional. They have a way of making you feel special and luxurious. The ambience and view is spectacular, overlooking the Yarra River.
They also give the nice touch of a small birthday cake and candle that makes me feel so special. I have been coming to Melba for over 10 years and counting.
It has been my ritual to dine at Melba on my birthday for years now and next year won't be any different.
-$85 but quality of food is average
- Food in other buffet is only $40 but have better quality of food.
-Pork roast skin is hard.
-No lobster but in website it is included in the menu
-Food presentation is average
-Drinks is only coffee and tea
-Drinking glass smelly
-Slow service.
We will not recommend this restaurant to anybody.
We were looked after very well by a lovely young man (Spanish origin with a Greek name). Oops forgot his name. Getting old.
5 star experience from arrival to departure. Melba restaurant is spacious and very comfortable. Huge variety of cuisine to choose from buffet style. Room was well appointed and made us feel at home. Staff are outstanding.
Luxury surroundings throughout the property and the most convenient location with Southbank at the front door with access to the banks of the Yarra river and CBD.
We stayed at the Langham, while we were there we decided to try the buffet for dinner on a Saturday night. Staff were all wonderful, the food on the other hand was a sad disappointment! Fresh seafood, was good, except for the crab, they were so tiny, it was not worth the effort to try and get into shell. The cooked to order dishes were good, but all the dishes that sat in the warmers ie. Roasts, fish, curries, were just dry and horrible. The red wine jus was more a tasteless coagulated mess, more reminiscent of wallpaper paste than a jus. We have dined at a lot of good restaurants in Melbourne for less money. We were tossing up on getting burgers that night, I wish we had. Breakfast buffet is awesome, just don't go there for dinner.
We both celebrated our wedding anniversary there on the 4th of October 2023. We were welcomed by lovely staffs and the ambiance was amazing. We enjoyed the food and drinks. We wanted to thank the Manager Mr. Danny, and his staffs Mr. Daz, Mr. Will, Mr. Justin, another Indonesian staff that we forgot to get his name. He made us a beautiful authentic Malaysian Char Kuey Teow. The whole experience was wonderful and it really made our day that night. We’ll be back again. Well done Melba Langham.
Great place to stuff your face with food from all over the world! Chocolate fountain was a definite highlight.
Expensive and unpalatable. The male waiter in charge of sushi has a very bad service attitude. I'm never going back there because of him.
The online booking system is trash, and no one ever pick up the phone, this kinda place deserve close down
Was Ok place, Family with kids enjoyed it. Was busy on Monday night. Not much variety and you have to wait for live food to be made. Atmosphere was excellent. Add more and different variety. Desserts were the star of the night.
Has to be one of the best buffet experiences I’ve ever been to. The highlight for me was the sashimi station, just to die for. The Langham Hotel has a beautiful lobby, opulent and really adds to the experience.
One of the only breakfast buffets in Melbourne left that don’t have a time limit, it has always been a favorite for my family and we will always cherish the times we have had meeting here for a great variety of food.
Melba Restaurant is absolutely aaaaaawsome! Heads up though, it is priced over $120 per person (drinks not included), and prices vary time on time of day/or night you go on which weekday you chose. The Roast selection is of your choice of meats, there is an Asian, Italian, and Indian work station were chefs will cook your meals on the spot, fresh noodles, stir fries, fresh pastas, and steaks/chops, curries, love thier nann bread they make on the spot. There a section of seafoods, antipasto and salad bar. The desserts are great too. We have been coming here for years and it's never failed. The staff are very attentive, and friendly. We went for dinner as celebration for our son birthday, he chose to go there as special dinner and ate their steaks most of the night. (With no salad of course!). Worth the visit for any occasional. Pre warning though DON'T EAT NOTHING ALL DAY! Then pace your self when there. Enjoy! We love Melba!
All the food and service was fantastic, Chef Bhatt was a charm.
Very friendly and great at explaining everything to us and the Naans were
We went for office Christmas dinner, Loved the ambience, in the buffet you get variety of food for all the taste buds, must try-tasty mouth-watering Indian cuisine.
My colleague has got some dietary requirements and they made dessert plate especially for her that too in no time she was very happy and so do we all were.
Great customer service from all the staff from entrance door to the dinner table making the experience luxurious.
Overall amazing food, great customer service. Chefs cook the food in front of you. Had Allergies and was provided a great dessert in picture.
Underwhelming, especially for the price you'd want the food to be stand out. The sushi staff seemed like they couldn't care less and did not talk at all. Eventually another chef came and made the food. Food wasn't refilled very often, had to ask for more ice cream/cold meats and cheese. The wait staff were inattentive, only offering 1 round of drinks before taking the drink menu away and not coming back to refill. $155pp for food, drinks $7 for basics and more for alcoholic.
Had the bestest day with friends for a pre Christmas lunch got given free wine and softdrinks on arrival beautiful room and entrance. Naan bread was ordered and made. Grayfish tails galore vanilla icecream amazing meats cooked perfectly. Left walked along the river home by 4pm. Great day.
The food was nice but the staff got our orders wrong a few times, when one of us asked for a lamb chop we were served a steak, when one of us asked for nigiri we got sushi rolls and when asked for sushi rolls we got nigiri. Quite frustrating, fortunately the food made up for it
I think they are charging way too much ($300approx.) but not offering the quality of food and service.
Food was terrible: gnocchi pasta was literally not good, chef was burning the naan bread again n again.
Service was terrible too: waiting for water, not clearing up the plates and rude Asian old guy serving us.
