Mediterranean Greek Tavern

First but won’t be the last. Excellent service matched by equally delicious food. Nothing pretentious about this Greek tavern. Barraumdi and gyros standout dishes of the night.

Used to be good, but now all combination meat plates are about 75% chicken. Especially the "Combination" Meat Platter, and the Gyros. The restaurant should be renamed "Mediterranean Chicken Restaurant". Not going back.

The food here is so authentic and SO delicious. We feel lucky to live just a stone's throw from here. We went twice in one week at the end of 2021 and will definitely make it a regular favourite!

Thank you Perry and team. Shame we couldn't dine in (Covid) but our take away was as delicious. Always too much food (Yay for leftovers). Top quality all the time. Highly recommend.

Only two tables were occupied on that Friday - the rest of the restaurant was empty.
We were in a hurry and two of us not very hungry, so ordered two mains - prawns saganaki and whitebait - and three entrees - two dips, salad and fried calamari. We also brought with us a bottle of wine for which there would be a $15 corkage.
Kristina doesn't eat lamb or chicken, hence all the seafood.
The friendly and professional waiter told us that the chef wouldn't be happy with such a small order, but he'd see what he could do.
He came back to tell us neither the prawns saganaki nor the whitebait were available.
There weren't any other mains that appealed to us, so we bumped up the calamari to a main and added dolmades - really trying to help them out here. So that's a mains Calamari ($32), Salad ($10), Two dips and bread ($19) Dolmades ($13) and corkage ($15).
Given that it was an empty restaurant on a Friday night, you'd think they'd welcome $89 plus tips for a short stay.

Waiter came back - chef says that's not good enough. Says you have to order more or leave. We left.
Kristina wrote that review (below) and their reply was the same rude arrogance as we experienced in the restaurant, even pretending that we had ordered less than Kristina said we did. Read it for yourself. Astounding arrogance!
Kristina had just moved in 50 metres away and looking for local restaurants to visit repeatedly, but won't be going back now, so they have lost repeat custom as well.
No wonder they were empty on a Friday night.
Really feel sorry for that waiter though. Must be tough having to work with that chef, and pretty hard to make tips off people walking out the door.

I arrived on a Friday night with my two dining companions at 7: 30pm. The restaurant only had two other tables with diners at them with very many empty tables. We tried to order 3 entrees, a main and a salad to share. The waiter told us the chef would be angry and would not cook these for us unless we ordered at least a main each as it was not worth his while. I asked if there was a minimum spend per head, and the waiter would not answer. He just said it is not enough, and the chef wants you to order more, or you can go elsewhere. Two of the mains we wanted to order were unavailable. It was all very confusing so we ended up leaving. I left feeling very disappointed as I had hoped to make this a regular local restaurant.

Delicious food, great service and really nice staff! My go to Greek place and a restaurant I would recommend to anyone wanting delicious food!

The food looks expensive until they bring out the free bread, salads and chips. Any meal here will leave you beyond full and satisfied with the Greek cuisine. Would recommend the Midouri with lemonade.

I cannot rate the food and the service here higher (though I would if I could!) With Covid screwing up plans for our twins’ 18th birthday celebrations at home, we moved the party to Mediterranean Greek Tavern and Perry couldn’t have been kinder, more accommodating or thoughtful. I think we may have had an even better night there than we would have at home (and I didn’t have to clean!) So much food, such lovely service and we could BYO out own booze and cakes. Thanks Perry and thanks to your whole team. See you very soon.

We thank the fantastic team at the tavern for the great food and service they provided for our sons baptism. We were very well looked after, making sure we were happy. There was more than enough of food and guests were commenting on how great everything was. My husband and I thank the tavern greatly. We were made to feel part of their family and our event ran smoothly.

The service was fantastic. So friendly, accommodating and very welcoming. The food was good, made with love, but a lot. Totally full. Lucky we were allowed to take the leftovers home so there is no waste if you can't finish. The Greek coffee was delicious too. I was worried it would be to bitter, but it was very smooth. I will for sure come back. Two thumbs up.

We was yesterday on birthday party of my friend in there.
Never had worst food in my life. Meat and octopus was overcooked and dry, seams like they reheat leftovers. The pahlava was shocking I know real greek pachlava how is. They even have tea in restaurant because the guy on the counter said that greeks don't drink tea. I'm sorry we are in Australia.
Customer service was excellent but in restaurant we are all going to have nice food.
PS. The table was booked for 6pm and I was there at 6.10pm.
You started to bring meat at table at 7.15 pm. But it's doesn't matter if you started to blame us and do not admit you mistakes. Simple I am sorry could be much better.

Best Greek food we’ve had in a long time. Great service with a smile and equally great food. Banquet option best value.

A sweet little Greek restaurant, friendly staff but an average dining experience overall.

I ordered whole baby snapper ($40!) which was cooked well but served solely with a pile of average chips (and NOTHING ELSE). My partner ordered the lamb souvlaki which was four lovely skewers of lamb (perfectly cooked and very tasty) but again with a small handful of "average: chips ($30) and two wilted green 'leaves? ' as garnish. Every other Greek restaurant or even pub serves souvlaki with Green salad, tzatziki and pita. Not sure why MGT don't. We ordered a separate Greek salad for an additional $10 which was generous but for some reason didn't contain red onion. Such a confusing Greek experience.

Had a really wonderful dinner with my family. Food was delicious and so fresh. Perry was a fabulous host- chatty but not intrusive! Can't wait to go back when they re-open after coronavirus. Highly recommend.

Had dinner here last night. Such a friendly place and the food was excellent. Better come hungry, these guys feed you really well. Even if you don’t, don’t worry, the meat and fish are so good it’s still tender for leftovers the next day. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely fantastic food, lamb and chicken just melts in your mouth. Not a huge selection but what there is, is arguably the best quality cooked to perfection. Some restaurants try to do way too much to cater to all, this one keeps it nice and simple and done to perfection. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

From the moment my partner and I walked in, we felt at home, like we were part of the family. The food was amazing. It was served hot, clearly made with love and with a true passion for giving it's diners a truly greek culinary experience. Perry, your customer service was more than customer service.
