Went to Marion Wine Bar for dinner for my BIL’s birthday on Boxing Day.

We arrived 15 minutes early, and the initial interaction with the male hostess was not positive, quite short, not engaging and told us to wait outside, no suggestion to sit at the ample space in the outdoor seating area.

Once seated, the arrogant service continued. It felt as though we were not worthy of attending this venue. We initially asked for Ouzo, but the waiter said she was unsure whether they had it, and told us to look in the drinks menu. We then ordered other drinks, including two tequilas and the two tequilas were different colour, yellow and clear. No explanation, we were basically expected to accept that they had given us two different types of tequila.

I am happy to share, that once we added extra lobsters to our banquet menu, the service changed.

The food was exceptional for the eight of us. Varied items, all great tasting. We really enjoyed the items, other than the Valrhona chocolate, soused cherry and cream dessert. It was disgusting. No one on the table ate it.

As stated previously, we added two half lobsters to our banquet at an added cost of $210. However, there must have been miscommunication between the waiter and kitchen as the table received less steak, 2 pieces for eight people is not acceptable.

The grand total cost was over $1600 for eight people, which included at 15% public holiday surcharge. For $1600 I would expect the service to be better! Would I go back… maybe!

I had lunch today just by chance. Octopus on toast as a starter & the swordfish for main. Best swordfish I have ever eaten

Absolutely adored this Fitzroy wine bar! We came here for our 2nd anniversary and loved everything we ate! We ordered the flatbread, the zucchini flower, the mussels, the onglet steak with shoestring fries and the honeycomb parfait for dessert. The mussels with ‘nduja and fried bread was our favorite, and we absolutely devoured the steak (that sauce is divine). The honeycomb parfait is definitely as good as they say!

Cannot fault my experience here.food was spot on.ordered the fries, flatbread and half roast chicken and each was delicious.service and staff were really just the icing on the cake.cant wait to come back and try more of their menu.

Great food and not surprisingly, an amazing wine list!

Service here was outstanding - some of the best I’ve encountered in Melbourne. Trust your server and let them guide you on the selections.

Cozy spot, beautifully designed - great for a date night!

My colleagues and I just finished work and we were going to have drink at Marion.
This hostess with shoulder long blonde hair told us to come back in 15 minutes. We went to Morning market to browse items and we saw 4 people exiting Marion so we came back 10mins since we spoke to her. She said to us “I told you 15 minutes since we last spoke”. We were trying to clarify to her and asked “oh so in 5 mins? ” And she angrily told us “Sure”. And then we saw another couple who was immediately attended and gave them a table.
I am not sure if she was being racist because none of us was Caucasian and the other couple was a Caucasian couple. I hope this place speaks to the hostess. I wish I can find her name and put it down here so that the owner can talk to her. But she is the hostess for the shift on 30/6/23 at 4pm.

It is very nice restaurant and the dishes are always delicious. It was my birthday Kirsty-Lee 's daughter dinner. She also enjoys the Margaritas.

I had an amazing time at Marion Wine Bar! The food, the service, and the ambiance were all truly wonderful. Such a glorious place to eat! Do not sleep on the bread holy hell

Good food with great service.
We ordered primarily the seafood dishes and everything tasted fresh.
The flatbread was fluffy and light - I definitely could've eaten more.
The snapper was perfectly cooked with great flavours.
Only con I have is that it seemed like a lot of the dishes got a last minute spritz of salt on top which at times a bit too much both in terms of flavour and the occasional gritty texture

My friends and I decided to have a nice evening of wine tasting In Glou, absolutely lovely spot. Was told after to go to Marion's wine bar.
When we arrived to Marion's, I Couldn't believe the manner in which I was spoken to. I was completely belittled, degraded, and disrepected to say the least.

It looked like a lovely place to drink by all accounts, but felt that due to my accent and my clothing (shorts and t shirt for the warm weather) I was told I would be better suited to the "pub down the road". This was amplified by one of the patrons of this establishment commenting "he definitely does not look like he belongs here" to one of the staff as I left, with her seemingly wholeheartedly agreeing.

I loved Marion Wine Bar. The food was really delicious (highly recommend the roast chicken), very reasonably priced ($50 per person) and there was a great atmosphere. I also really liked that there was substantial non alcoholic drink list

Amazing food and service as usual! The wine selection outstanding as usual ️
My only feedback is that the kitchen bell it’s a bit too loud, specially for the tables near the kitchen.

In my opinion, the jewel in the McConnell empire. It's the type of place you think of when you want something sophisticated but relaxed, exciting but familiar, local but always busy. The wine list is ever changing and it's great to see the small and share plate menu getting some turn-around too. A Gertrude St institution.

This was such a fantastic meal! The server gave us great recommendations and she was really attentive throughout our whole meal and truly made us feel very welcome. Every aspect of our meal was fantastic, from the garlicky bread to the insanely tender pork chops. Would definitely go back again and try more of the wine offerings!

One of my favourite wine bars in Melbourne! Wonderful food, cheeses and of course wines. Great place to go after work or a lazy weekend afternoon!

Really enjoyed our experience at Marion. Great selection of wines available from any price point you could want, cocktails were designed very well and really could not be faulted.

The zucchini flowers were very tasty and our favourite dishes from the night was definitely the pork and the whole flounder from the mains.

The roast chicken was cooked to perfection as even the breast meat was still very juicy and well seasoned.

Very hard not to like an evening out at Marion.

Went at 9.30 on a Sunday night after calling to find out when they closed (10.30pm) then got refused as they wanted to save “labour costs”.

I love simple menus with items that can be easily shared. Cozy environment, we seated outside enjoying the rare warm Melbourne evening and our friendly waiter navigated us through the menu with his recommendations of shared plates. Every plate was delicious. We were worried the portions on each plate may not be a sufficient fill but we were wrong. Their flounder was amazing, as was their crudo and the beetroot in labneh. Definitely recommended. We will return

Great wine list and decent food. They say their flat bread is good and it really is. Idly my fave thing was the horseradish whip that accompanied the steak?

Me and my partner came in for a dinner date and were blown away by the awesome staff and food!

Our waiter Olivia was superb, great recommendations for wines and other drinks and was super accommodating for my partner's dietary requirements; a really refreshing experience. She went above and beyond, whatever she is paid she deserves more!

The rest of the staff were very warm and welcoming. An overall great experience. Definitely the best of the best!
