Le Taj Restaurant & Lounge reviews
76 This would have to be the best Indian meal I’ve ever had. The butter chicken was so full of flavour with lots of depth to it, the vindaloo was hot but also full of flavour. I’m looking forward to going back for the hotter curries.
I highly recommend Le Taj and their service was very friendly and welcoming.
The rice is mushy and ratio of chicken to rice is not correct. The butter chicken has no distinct flavor. Definitely will never come back.
Food was exceptional, full of flavour and extremely well priced for the quality of food which was served.
Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!
Venue had a very authentic feel to it and the decor and environment was lovely the staff and service were equally as great! Would definitely return as leaving we already booked another reservation the following week.
Really good food. We ordered for takeaway on a Tuesday night and it was ready to pick up in about 20 minutes. The bloke at the counter was very friendly, and it was some of the best Indian food I've had.
Me and my partner have travelled the world and still think le taj is the best curry place we’ve ever had the pleasure of dining at! Thank you Pat!
Great Food and Service - This place is a favorite!
Over the years I’ve been to a lot of Indian restaurants in Melbourne and have had some very tasty food, but this place is reliably fantastic
I which I could recommend a dish but to be honest everything is great. You can’t go wrong!
The wine list is simple but good value, most bottles of red are $40ish.
And the service is great. The staff are so lovely. 10 stars!
Cozy spot for Indian, tucked away in North Melbourne.
Friendly staff & great flavours.
Had the set menu which was filling, only feedback would be that more than one papadum per person would be welcomed and would save wasting the uneaten chutneys.
Fantastic Indian food always been a great meal every time I've been there. Service is great as well.
I am new to Melbourne and was travelling from Sydney, was on a hunt for great Indian restaurants nearby. It was best in sometime. The smell, the test and the environment everything was great but the nan bread and the person. Definitely recommend you to visit.
Tasty food, excellent ambiance, clean washrooms and very courteous staff. Love visiting again.
Le Taj is a restaurant that offers authentic fine Indian food. I came here for dinner with a friend and we ordered
CHICKEN SAAG
•Chicken cooked with creamy fresh spinach & traditional spices.
LE TAJ SPECIAL” KADHAI CHICKEN
• Chicken fillets cooked with juliennes of Capsicum, tomatoes” ginger & served in wok.
NAAN bread
2 x mango lassi
& dessert platter with Gulab Jamun, mango ice cream and kulfi
The naan bread was really fresh and hot and was really tasty with the curries, which were packed with so much flavour.
I also really liked the Gulab Jamun, was great on the dessert platter.
The mural and mirror decorations as well as the neon lights gave a very nice decorative touch and and the food came out pretty quickly.
Favourite Indian in Melbourne. The butter chicken was creamy with a hint of spice, full of delicious tender chicken. Garlic naan was great and full of garlic. The only thing I'd change is the mango lassi, it was too sweet for my liking.
I took the lunch from here but I felt the rice is not freshly cooked. It was too hot but felt like it was taken freshly from oven.
Rice and curry is the best economic option here as lunch and rice they provide is not plain white rice instead the coloured rice. But again not prepared after receiving order.
There is no restaurant owned parking space but there is a public open space nearby.
Also the restaurant is open irregularly. Time mentioned is not maintained.
Ambience and service of the restaurant is really good.
Fantastic every time! I’ve been to Le Taj three times (once dine-in, twice take-away), and each time the food has been tasty, authentic, filling and reasonably priced. When you want Indian near the CBD, definitely go here! Does not disappoint.
One of the best Indian restaurant I have been to in Melbourne. Staff are very professional, polite and passionate and more importantly not in rush. Constantly asked feedback about food being served. Nice ambience with tasty food served hot made our evening even more blissful.
Beautiful venue with lovely murals on the wall, friendly staff and very cool displaying of the food with smoking plates.
One of the finest Indian fine dining experiences I’ve had in Melbourne ️ each and every dish we ordered was beyond exceptional and it really took me back to India with every bite highly highly recommend this place and make sure to try these dishes foshoooo! Great service tooo!
Must try dishes:
Hara Kebab
Samosa
Le taj special kadhai chicken
Goat Masala
Le Taj is such a great restaurant with beautiful decor, an authentic menu and exceptional food.
We had a couple of the curries, samosas and chicken tikka which all looked and tasted beautiful. The curries bursted with flavour and I recommend any of these dishes as they were all so yum.
It was all so great, service was good too! A must visit if you're thinking of visiting.
Came here wanting to try Melbourne’s hottest curry. I had it with some garlic naan which were amazing. The mutton in the curry was tender and delicious. The curry was certainly hot, but it still had an amazing flavour to it. It is not the spiciest food I ever had but it’s a nice meal on a cold day. It wasn’t too expensive for everything I had as well. The staff was nice and the restaurant had a nice cozy atmosphere. Overall I’d say it’s a pretty good place to go have authentic Indian food and I will certainly go back again.
Love the Goan fish curry, naan and even rice is spectacular. Consistently good, been going there for years. Love it
