Koko Black reviews
74 Was out searching for good chocolate for gift. And notice Koko black. Its a choice I will not regret making.
There were many different choices if chocolate available and even while I am just browsing through, the staff was quick to notice and came to provide me with ideas on what to get.
Overall, I was pleased with how the different chocolate is introduced and I even sampled their latest product which is rich and the chocolate taste is ample.
I end up buying more than I am planning to do so. Hahaha
I will definitely come here again the next time I am back in Melbourne.
My favorit ice chocolate in Melbourne! I gave 5 stars for the store in the Westfield Doncaster, but less 1 star here. The ice chocolate was't taste as rich as the one in Doncaster.
Staff are kind and you are served very quick if not instantly. Seats are comfy and spacious enough. And the Mochas are the BEST in Melbourne. Perfect shopping and cafe experience would come here everyday if I could!
This shop always busy, located at an European style shopping centre.when you sitting on the 2nd floor with a ice-chocolate (must order item for summer), good service and good experience.
Purchased 1 box of 54g Marbles Negroni for afternoon tea on Thursday. Total 9.90 AUD.
1 box consists of 6 pc of dark negroni ganache marbles coated in 54% dark chocolate, infused with orange zest, bitter citrus liqueur. They were smooth, good balanced of bitter & sweet.
The packaging was vibrant, modern, and lovely. Perfect for a gift.
Unfortunately, my boyfriend wasn't pleased because I ate the chocolate without sharing. Sorry! I was so tempted, they looked (and tasted) so good!
The jungle hot chocolate was very well done, I could taste the lime and the smoke flavour, definitely a very classy Michelin-hat style item. The brownie was a bit dry, so I would highly recommend having the chocolate melt to pour over it before eating.
Service was quick and very friendly. Thanks for the great experience!
Was a loyal customer before new owners took over.
Have noticed cost cutting measures with some of the products such as the packing quality, and chocolate shortbread which are $30 for a small tin. I used to buy them all the time because whilst expensive, were delicious. Bought another tin today and noticed they had shrunk by 30% and the chocolate coating used to be so much thicker making for a very average tasting biscuit.
Very disappointing that what used to be a premium brand has now resorted to these cost cutting measures which comprise their brand and product.
Koko Black has to be one of the most beautiful cafes in Melbourne. Vintage architecture, beautiful colors and amazing chocolate - it looks like a store out of Willy Wonka. Really friendly staff too.
A delicious selection of sweet treats and well made coffee. Great way to make a trip to the city special.
Terrible service! We waited inside near the counter to be seated and although we were in full view of staff now, no one greeted us or made any attempt to seat us. The waitress who was working yesterday around midday saw us and ignored us. The place wasn't even full or too busy.
We then left and went to another place in the arcade with 10/10 service. This store will shut down with such awful service.
I’ll start by saying that service was absolutely excellent, and I really cannot fault the cafe for that.
But had I known I’d be paying $8.50 for a hot chocolate I would never have walked in.
Not only was it extremely overpriced (who the hell pays that much for hot chocolate? !) …. But it was one of the worst I have ever had.
It didn’t taste decadent and rich, just really sickly sweet. Genuinely worse than the $2 hot chocolates you can get from 7/11.
I’ve had a hard time finishing it, just disappointing considering the steep price.
Wouldn't go anywhere else for hot or cold chocolate to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Service is lovely, prepared by staff member Pat / Patrick. Highly recommend this niche spot in the arcade laneway. Will definitely be coming back for more, seriously, get their hot and iced chocolate! Would rate the place a 6 but I can’t. Very nice staff! I remember one day I ordered an ice chocolate and left hastily for work but when I opened the lid of the coffee cup I was greeted with no ice cream. The next day I went back, they remembered I took the wrong drink when picking mine up. They kindly gave me 2x the scoops and offered me 3 chocies for free! The service here is unparalleled compared to the other Coffee establishments in the rest of melbourne. Will be back to satisfy my craving of delicious delightfulness.
Great coffee, very good hospitality and friendly staff with delicious high quality products; these are all enough for me to give five stars and highly recommend this place!
Thanks and I will come back soon and more often.
Wouldn't go anywhere else for hot chocolate.

Highly recommend this niche spot in the arcade laneway.

Met a friend here for afternoon tea. What an amazing array of food options. Had the waffles with dark chocolate and ice cream. My friend had the decadent cake. Great tea and coffee to wash them down
Disappointing service. Coffee came out cold after a long wait. Poor waitress run off her feet. Very disapointed as was a favorite of ours.
After making me wait for a coffee for 15 mins, they realized that they had given it to somebody else. The coffee which I got later on was just water and awful to taste. Probably the worst coffee I HV had in Melbourne.
A old lady is extremely friendly with remarkable services. I had iced longblack and some chocolates, should try their different flavors and types of chocolates. I would like to visit again to have ice or hot chocolate.
We visited Koko Black for lunch the other day and really enjoyed it. The cafe is conveniently located in the heart of the CBD and is a lovely spot to enjoy a coffee.
My friend had the baguette which he enjoyed although it was too crunchy and a struggle to eat. The portion size was good though. I had the ham and cheese croissant which was fresh and tasty. We also had the iced chocolate and strawberry iced tea which was lovely and refreshing on a hot Summer's day.
Will be back for sure to try more of their sweet dishes.
