Koko Black reviews
74Exceptional service by our waitress! She was polite, helped us make our drinks even bettee and very cheerful. The drinks were perfect for a hot day. Will be back for the chocolates.
After having no service at the town hall shop I walked down to the Royal Arcade
Thank you to the lady in the purple hair for your amazing service and the Asian lady for being soo friendly and helpful
If only all your stores have amazing people like these
I've been here multiple times and it's always perfect. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and most importantly, Fantastic food! I will be back.
Lovely staff, great chocolates. The hot chocolate could be a little stronger but otherwise great cafe
I think reviews will tell you correctly that the hot chocolate here is one of the best you’ll find. The service is decent too… the staff seemed to know the chocolate offerings enough to give recommendations. But the chocolate itself was a bit of a let down. I bought several things to try, milk, white and dark. I’d say this is one of those places that thinks “bitter” means “gourmet”, at least for the dark chocolate. The chocolate I had probably tasted quite close to having straight up cacao. The milk chocolate was the best of the three but I wouldn’t rate it as highly as at other chocolatiers. Come for the hot chocolate.
Best place in Melbourne, beautiful old buildings with delicious chocolate treats and freshly made coffee
Koko Black, The Coffee Place where the Beautiful People gather, to enjoy the Haute couture of coffee, cakes and signature Chocolates handmade, of a selectable Selection. And, be served by The most personable, discreet Staff in the Silver Service of serving staff, headed by the Most down to earth but Esteemed Manager in her devotion to her staff, and in her mentoring, guidance and instruction. The Rolls Royce, The Place to be Seen.
Chocolates are good, the cakes are nice, the hot drinks could be be hotter, the only thing is the staff or the manager could be more compassionate when the booth seat cut my ankle. Staff was aware, I showed them my bleeding wound but none including the manager said anything and I had to ask them for some sort of first-aid or bandaid. They finally gave me some bandaids with 2 free little chocolates ️
The food was terrific been there plenty times even though l live in elwood melbourne good staff
Why is everything pay-in-advance nowadays? I was surprised to be accosted for payment by the waitress when ordering from my table. Can't help feeling that I am servicing them, rather than they servicing me - most uncivil. Surely I should pay for a service after I've enjoyed it. So discourteous.
Great little hidden cafe for nice brews and a cheeky snack of delicious chocolate. They have a great variety of different chocolate flavours. This is probably the oldest and most original choc cafe shop before all these new chocolate cafe's have popped up all over the place.
The experience in koko black was mixed for me.
Almost immediately after we entered the store, a pint sized lady with all white hair and a tall pony tail greeted us and introduced to us some of the special chocolates of Koko Black. She was very patient.
Update 15 August 2022: I found out that her name is ZARA. Now sporting a cropped hairstyle. Once again, she was super. Thank you for taking care of me.
She had us try some samples then we went about choosing our chocolates.
After a while, she had to go for a break, then another lady took over. Unfortunately. This lady was the complete opposite. She was very pushy and all she wanted to do was close the sale.
That was not a pleasant.
Came here with a friend to try their limited edition cake for World Chocolate Day. It already came prepackaged in a box and bag, so it was handed to us although we were dining in. It would be more appropriate to serve on a plate for customers that are dining in.
Love their Belgian hot chocolate! Tasty and not too sweet. My friend preferred their coffee and mentioned it tasted better than the koko black store along Collins street.
Initially we wanted to dine upstairs in their ‘Chocolate Lounge’, however we felt it’s a bit dark and air circulation is better downstairs.
This shop is definitely worth coming in for a visit if you are a chocolate lover. Their chocolates are handmade and delicious!
This is a great place for a coffee or in my case a hot chocolate. There is this great little corner booth inside which is perfect for a catch-up with a good friend. The hot-chocolate was creamy and not too sweet. I loved it.
Delicious chocolates with unique combinations of flavors. Every service member was extremely friendly and welcoming. Thank you!
Super friendly and professional staff. Stunning range of chocolates and the best coffee in central Melbourne. Check out upstairs! It's brilliant.
The staff here are so lovely! Always make you feel welcome.
I think the place has sadly lost a little of the charm it used to have in the cafe areas. Perhaps this is a post-lockdown thing? But this is certainly not due to the kind and generous staff.
Good coffee, delicious chocolate and friendly staff.
The location in the royal arcade is great, amd they make a vegan hot chocolate:)
Nice coffee as always.
Very friendly staff.
Didnt realize increase in price until payment.
Upon visiting Melbourne we decided to stop by Koko Black for coffee and afternoon tea. Unfortunately we were met with very poor service. After finding a seat we were given menus but promptly told there were many items unavailable. We ordered and again told our orders were unavailable. After finally finding some available items we chatted waiting for our drinks and desserts. Half way through consuming our food and drink a staff member promptly started backing in a chest freezer right where we were sitting. This was very rude and not a nice dining experience as there was no warning that we couldn’t sit in this seating prior or that we would be sandwiched into a tight space! One of our party was just rudely told to move and that was that. Definitely won’t be returning. I mean common sense! Don’t just back in a giant freezer/fridge thing while customers are paying money to dine there. Stupid!
