JP Flynn Builders reviews
63Tony was helpful and prompt with communication, as well as being friendly and respectful. JP Flynn's office staff kept us updated as to when the likely arrival of our replacement roller door would be. Allan, the tradesman who did the job was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and worked efficiently to complete the job in an excellent manner.
Great communication and support right through an insurance claim job. Once approved by insurer, work completed promptly and to a high standard.
We recently had a burst pipe that had caused significant damage to our home. Over the extent of works being done, David in particular has been absolutely wonderful to deal with. Trades had been organised straight away and things got moving. He has been very responsive to any questions or concerns. Any requests have been dealt with promptly and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Thank you David and Paula for your wonderful communication.
Fantastic service
Big thanks to ash for making things happen today I really appreciate it
The work carried out by the plumber and the joinery was exceptional
Very professional. Courteous and friendly
Thanks
Would recommend JP Flynn to anyone
What an absolute disgrace of a ‘Building’ Company.
Half completed works, that are unsafe and non-compliant and of extremely poor workmanship.
The workers do the absolute bare minimum and don’t clean up after themselves and are extremely rude and poorly presented.
A commitment of works communicated to be completed not done as the worker assigned is not a ‘plasterer’, ‘carpet/floor layer’ or ‘cleaner’.
Their unfinished/poor quality work has resulted in injuries to our child of which they don’t care and refuse to repair.
If you want your home to be renovated or repaired with quality do not waste your time with these pathetic ‘Builders’
We were allocated JP Flynn by our insurer after a pipe had burst in our home. Their sub-contracted electrician attended on the day and make safe our switchboard and tagged it out with a danger tag. The following day one of their tradesman came and cut holes along our walls to facilitate drying by the dehumidifiers that had been set up.
When the first assessor attended, he did a basic inspection and demonstrated no real understanding of the damaged that had occurred and the required repairs. In his report, he only recommended that the walls be painted, the floor sanded and sealed. He did not quote replacing a significant portion of ceiling that needed to be replaced due to water damage nor replacing the flooded floors which could not be sanded back as a repair. MOST IMPORTANTLY, he stated in writing that we had cut the holes in the walls and did not include them in the scope.
In addition to this, they claimed that the switchboard was only tagged out as a precaution and did not require repair and could be untagged when their electrician returned for the repair works. This never happened and was not going to happen as at this point as we would not be allowing JP Flynn to complete the repairs to our home. This misinformation was used by the insurance company to deny us alternative accommodation (which was eventually provided).
After 2 months of back and forth with my insurance company and obtaining other quotes from QUALIFIED builders and an engineering report, the insurance company managed to determine that the first assessors report was inaccurate and contained false information.
We then had a second, more senior assessor attend to do another inspection, who apparently could not appropriately assess the damage and repairs. So then an engineering consultant was needed to do an assessment and provide a scope of works. This scope was just a rehash of the first assessor's report with some of the extra plasterboard work included.
We again disputed this scope to the point where the insurance company sent one of their own technical assessors to inspect the property. The outcome of this was the insurer's assessor agreed that the JP Flynn scope was completely inappropriate and did not suitably repair the damage that had occurred.
We cannot speak to their workmanship or organisation, however the inappropriate assessments and false information in the scope of works from JP Flynn meant it took over 12 months for us to get back into our house. This company's incompetence and dishonesty cost our family 12 months of our lives out of our house and under considerable stress. I don't know if other insurance company builders are any better, but if JP Flynn are assigned to you, be prepared to record everything that occurs and to combat them with other builders and specialists to get a proper repair for your home.
UPDATE: In response to the below reply, I don't see how taking this up with you now, nearly 14 months later, achieves anything. What is done is done. The claim of confusion around there being renovation works occurring is nonsense, all that had been done renovation-wise was the kitchen had been removed, and the renovations were always a separate project being handled by the original contractors. If I had the energy I might have complained to regulatory bodies, but I am done. This review is simply a warning to others who may end up in the situation we found ourselves in.
Very happy with the workmanship and attention to detail. Highly recommend the team from JP Flynn.
Recently had my awning replaced and the tradesmen were fantastic. The job was a little more difficult than anticipated and they went above and beyond expectations to get the job done perfectly! The office staff were helpful with each interaction and gave the impression they really do care about your job, you’re not just another pesky customer! Highly recommended
I am pleased to write a review for JP Flynn builders and their employees, Floyd Holiday, David Gauci, and Tanya Dutta. They recently performed repair work at a home following a flood event. I must say that I was impressed by their professionalism, attention to detail, and dedication to customer satisfaction.
Floyd Holiday, the home assessor, did an exceptional job of identifying all the tiny bits of water-damaged contents and structure at the house. His attention to detail meant that nothing was left unattended, and his thoroughness ensured that all necessary repairs were identified and completed.
David Gauci, the repair supervisor, was courteous, professional, and timely. He ensured that the repair work was carried out efficiently and deployed the best tradespeople for the job. David also worked hands-on to complete some of the repair work himself. He regularly attended the site to inspect and supervise the work himself, ensuring that everything was progressing as planned.
Tanya Dutta, the repair coordinator, was extremely helpful and efficient. She served as a liaison between the myself (client) and the tradespeople, keeping the client informed about all appointments and updates. Tanya also coordinated with the insurance company to discuss any concerns the client had, making the repair process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Overall, I was impressed with the professionalism and quality of work provided by JP Flynn builders and their team of experts. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and efficient repair work.
Tradies we're fine but assessor was dreadful. Created a scope of works that was not followed by tradies as was clearly ridiculous.
Once Mark got involved it all went very well. He gave good, considered advice and organised very good trades. Paul the cabinet maker was exceptional as was Adrian the plasterer from Hookies along with his painter Gary. They all couldn't have been more helpful and would recommend them all again.
David Brunt did a great job on the repairs to our property. On time, high quality work and kept us informed throughout.
Tamara from JP Flynn Builders was able to resolve my insurance claim efficiently. Trades used performed quality work.
Very prompt and professional service. They listen and help as much as possible. I had a great smooth experience with many, many thanks!
Thankyou JP Flynn!
Peter
Amazing to deal with. My house flooded back in oct and I first met Floyd and he has been a god send. Through out the whole process he has been Amazing open communication the whole time. Very professional.
Can't recommend Floyd and JP Flynn enough.
We were very happy with the services provided by JP Flynn Builders. The painters they engaged did a wonderful job and we were very happy with their quality. Thanks
I had the pleasure of being looked after by Ken Ojiabo, who visited our property today. After a number of frustrating months with others at JP Flynn’s, Ken took control of the situation and ensured that everything was covered and documented prior to leaving the premise. He really spent the time to completely assess the issues at hand, and was already making arrangements to schedule in a flooring specialist to get the ball rolling prior to leaving.
Thank you Ken for putting us at ease. We now finally feel we are getting somewhere. We were really grateful for your extended time and efforts today - it was greatly appreciated
JP Flynn was contracted for work on our ensuite. Work completed included carpentry, waterproofing, tiling, electrical, and plumbing. All contractors assigned were top quality and the completed work is excellent. Their communication has been great and quality control meticulous. I would like to particularly thank Mark, Emma, Geoff, Josh, and Declan for their thorough and tireless work on the job. We are very happy with the completed work.
JP Flynn managed and coordinated the repairs at my elderly mother's home recently due to significant flood damage. It was such a relief to deal with the team who helped us through such a challenging time. Both Ken and Christian were kind and courteous in their communication at all times. They planned each stage of works to minimise disruption to my mum. The repairs were completed at a high standard and all of the team were truly fantastic to work with. Thanks you so much to Ken, Christian and to all the team.
