Izakaya Den reviews
69Delicious dishes for sharing but pricey for small portions. Beer on tap was fantastic (which also doubled our bill!) The broccoli and fungi dish was our favorite and we could’ve easily had another serving. The corn fritter balls are also worth a try and the chili tofu was silky and tender. Very friendly staff. Would be back for sure but only for special occasions.
Fantastic food and service. The serial whingers, stop complaining about prices. People have to earn a decent wage.
The food is just beautiful as well as the staff - so friendly, helpful and kind. Definitely worth trying are: the black fried rice, kingfish sashimi and of course their beautiful ranges of sake (have a bit of all the sake if you feel like breaking the bank account). The den fried chicken is also great, especially for those who are not a big fan of fish and like their food well cooked.
Izakaya my arse!
Very limited menu and small servings at expensive prices. I’m going back to the hotel to eat leftover pizza! I expected a 'wide' variety of traditional Japanese foods at Izakaya.
Don't order the pork. It was about the last thing to arrive. Dish service was all over the place. My rice didn't get there until the 5th or 6th dish came out.
Never again! Very disappointed.
We did the $55 feed me and it was mostly really tasty and interesting. The only downside was the fish of the day mackerel and it seemed really rubbery to me. We had more than enough food though so we just left that)
This is a nice quaint little place nestled next to McDonalds. I ordered the basic beef udon for lunch. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t notice anything spectacular about this meal. It was basically udon and beef with minimal toppings. At least it was pretty cheap for $8.90!
Nice ambience, but food wasn't good. Both the omelette and scallops were bland. Pork belly skewers and sake were ok, but overall, an overpriced izakaya with below average food.
Came here for my birthday. Food was delicious and fairly priced. The service was intentive and the chef's were all working hard! Well done!
It is not easy to find the entrance but really good to try. Dishes are very cute and tasty. Highly recommend Wangyu Tataki and fried chicken, these are my favorites. Broccoli salad is also nice. Amazing prawns or fantastic prawns? I can’t remember the name, we had four
This place has beautiful food, great service and atmosphere all hidden away down some inconspicuous stairs just off the corner of Little Collins St on Russell St. Perfect for a special night out for two or for the casual diner. Although on the slightly pricier side it was certainly worth the money with some simple but beautiful flavours presented. Would highly recommend if you like honest Japanese cuisine.
I like it alot. Drinks were great and the food was even better. Would go back in a second and had great honest service. Was pretty hard to find. I would say variety and difference was a highlight.
Loved it! Highly recommend. If you drink and order a decent amount of food, expect bill in excess of $250.00 but totally worth it. Food was fantastic, drinks were great. Bottle of Sav Blanc not so much. Fantastic environment, could be a great date venue! Intimate, hidden. Will be back for sure with my new man
My friends and I saw a rat running across the ground and left. Previous dinning experience was on point but we could not stay after seeing the rat.
Great food let down by poor service. Tuna tataki and char grilled pork belly were standouts. 3.5 stars. The
The Den is snuggled away downstairs from the entry. As you walk in you wonder whether you're heading into a nightclub
Once you're inside though this is quite a trendy Japanese place! The hospitality & food has a modern Japanese flair to it & the dishes are elegantly plated and taste great. The staff were super friendly and great to chat to. Food is good, could be great with additional flavours.
Only feesback, the lighting is too sutble ("mood lighting") for me & I struggled to read the menu.
Fantastic food! We really enjoyed our night out. The Set menu was filling and good size but we could have eaten more because they were so yummy. Didn’t take all photos cause we ate it too quickly.
Quality Japanese food. This would be a perfect spot for a date night. For the price you pay, you’ll get to try top quality dishes and be served by extremely polite staff. I noticed that each time you get a complimentary serving of soba noodle in a tiny glass cup.
Pleasantly surprised by this hidden restaurant. Walked past it a few times before realising I had to walk down the stairs in to the den (aptly named).
Friendly staff. Good vibe for a date night. Fusion Japanese food. They have a very good bar and friendly and knowledgeable bar tenders. Good food, but small portion. The sashimi is very fresh.
Nice ambience in a basement. Authentic izakaya dishes. Great place for an atsukan to warm you up on a winter's night
