GREAT PLACE TO SEE 3D OR PANORAMIC MOVIES
Its located right next to the Melbourne Museum so you can make a day of it with kids!
The Cinema is within the Carlton Gardens with very easy public transport access by tram on Victoria and Nicholson Streets and the Parliament underground train station just a few minutes walk away.
The cinema is wheelchair friendly

TL'DR: Screen is better than Hoyts, but the 3D glasses is a nightmare for people who already wear glasses, the premium seat is not worth it regardless what people say on TripAdvisor.
Went there for Avenger: Infinity War. I was disapointted the 3D glasses. It's bigger and heavier than the one Hoyts IMAX uses, and it's real glass instead of plastic. But it doesn't stay on when you already have a pair of glasses on and it has this weird reflection the whole time. I was really disappointed because it's more expensive than Hoyts IMAX and I paid extra for the premium seat after reading good things about them on TripAdvisor. But the seat was really uncomfortable. Even IMAX said that the premium seats are elevated for better viewing, the guy in front of me still manage to block my sight.

30 dollars for a standard seat is expensive, but it's definitely worth it for the right movie. I saw Ready Player One 3D, sat in the centre of the back row (of standard seating) and it was amazing. There is one row of premium seating at the back with extra legroom, 42 dollars a ticket. For standard seating I definitely recommend the back three or four rows - any further foward and the size of the screen may be overwhelming making it hard to focus. They also skipped the adverts and went straight to trailers which I liked.

I love IMAX. They have 3D, they have huge screens and best of all the popcorn and drinks are actually reasonable compared to HOYTS who just rip you off.

Attended at night for special openings 12am. Excellent night out at that time. Beautifully lite up. Beautiful views of park, Melbourne Museum and city edge which created a fantastic vibe and added to the night. Great energy, lots of international visitors added to the energy. Screen pretty amazing makes it difficult to go else where. Spoilt. Love the walk up entry. Great seating not over crowded in any way.

Great 1st experience here today. Amazing 3D cinema and great staff. We took our 2 and 4 yr olds to see the Under the Sea screening. We were aware that it may be a little over whelming for them and were correct.

They didn't last much more than 15mins. When we went to return our glasses we were offered a refund un requested for which we were very grateful.

Thank you so much for such great service and will be back again soon (without the kids for a couple of years).

Screen and sound wise is as good as any Imax. No doubt. Best to sit from the half backwards. I would give it the 5 stars if food options were better, really is all the usual confectionary stuff. And queues sometimes are 10+ minutes, which if you come a bit late it puts you off.

With its custom-engineered sound system and large format screen, IMAX Melbourne is a _sound_ choice for watching your favourite movies.

The lack of adverts, provided 3D glasses (where appropriate) and the immersive sound system more than makes up for the higher price tag for the premium movie experience.

For the more popular movies, I would recommend pre-purchasing tickets to ensure you get the center seats.

Love coming here! Such a massive screen and services at great prices considering the value. The 3D glasses are always kept very clean and have no splotches on them. And the staff are always very pleasant and happy to do their jobs. Easy place to find on public transport in the city aswell.

I still dream about watching films at this place. IMAX elsewhere just doesn't come to life as it does at Melbourne Museum.
I'll be back one day for sure!

Amazing screen, the biggest I have ever seen. Was watching Rogue One. Had a feeling that ships going to fly into me. Stunning sound effects.

Minus. Little leg room.

$27 for IMAX + Museum entry. 10 steps away at the museum, you get the same thing for $20.and when I asked the lady why, she gave me an indirect answer and didn't even bother to let me know it's cheaper upstairs.useless

Saw Star Wars R1 in 3D. The theatre had normal sized 3D glasses which were not sufficient for this sized screen. They used to have not sized glasses that did not make one look ultra cool, but they were great for IMAX. So had a hard time watching the movie as the glasses screwed it up - and I was at the back. Boo IMAX - $32 per ticket. Glasses should be replaced.

Watched Star Wars here! Amazing video and audio quality but it felt bit too close to the screen even though we were closer to the back of the theatre
