I waited for almost 30 minutes for the tech guy to finish entertaining other customers before I made the decision to just get out from the store and ripped the product care receipt. At least, you should ask me to wait patiently and treat that Im exist at the shop no? Im not asking to treat me like a royalty or etc.
1) Ask customer when he/she is waiting while looking at what you doing (common sense)

False advertising re.price match, customer service is slow and reluctant to do an actual price match to Amazon which offers free delivery to non-member. HN said Amazon AU isn't considered an Australian retailer and basically exhausted their excuses lol. If you can't match simply don't advertise such, small money though but a big no no on integrity. Happy to hear back from the business owner

I purchased a portable air-conditioner online, it was $, and the calculated delivery fee was $49. I was ok with that, given it was to be home delivered. Was told it would be in 1-2 business days.
Get a call the same day from QV Harvey Norman to say they'd like to deliver it the next day (awesome). The guy who called then proceeds to tell me I need to pay a delivery fee. I was confused, as I had already paid a delivery fee. He said he'd consult his manager. I get a call a bit later from said manager telling me because I'd said I had stairs at my apartment, I had to pay the delivery fee again ($45), cause they'd need to make sure the guy could carry it up stairs. I asked if he'd have the proper equipment to lift it, as I wouldn't be helping. He assured me they would.

He then asks me to give him my credit card details over the phone. I was a bit taken aback by this, as no where on the harvey norman website does it say that I'd have to pay twice for delivery. It specifically says when you look up delivery:

"The delivery fee is calculated by the size and weight of the items, plus the distance to the delivery address from a fulfillment location. You can work out delivery costs for your purchase using the delivery cost calculator in Shopping Cart. Otherwise, delivery costs will be automatically calculated in Checkout and displayed as a line item in your costs"

No mention of being required to give your credit card details to an unidentified person over the phone. It became obvious I wouldn't get it delivered unless I gave my details, so had to comply.

When the delivery arrived the next day, it was a single guy, who could barely lift the air conditioner. It was big, heavy and bulky, and he didn't have any lifting trolley to assist with carrying it upstairs (which the store manager assured me he would.) An Uber driver delivering food ended up helping him, as he was blocking the stairwell and the guy needed to drop off his food delivery.

So I paid $94 for delivery, and half of it should have done to a random uber driver.

Perhaps Harvey Norman could be much more transparent with their costing for delivery. If I'd know it'd be paying almost another $100 for delivery, I'd have done with a competitor. It would have been cheaper, and at least I'd know what I was expected to pay for, and not be giving out sensitive details to random people over the phone.

Editing my review. Service used to be great here compared to another retailer. Staff were helpful and eager to assist.
However the previous 3 times I have come to purchase something I have been ignored whilst your staff members continue ue to chat to each other. This has occurred in two different departments.

I typically don't leave reviews, but feel compelled to after some of the most helpful and professional service I have ever received when buying a new speak system for my home.

Rob went above and beyond in being interested and understanding exactly what I was trying to achieve to assist in finding the right home speaker solutions in store, in the kindest and most informative way.

Maybe two weeks later, I was having some technical issues, and called in to the store, where Rob remembered me and my purchase as a customer. I'm generally pretty good with tech troubleshooting, but this was out of my league.

He very clearly knew the right path to fix the issue, without having to return to the store, and saved me much time and effort in doing so.

I hope they pay this man well, employees like this do not grow on trees. Will be returning to here for many years to come.

We bought a lots of staff from Harvey Norman as customer. I would like to bring them attention. For the weekend driver for delivery which was not professional and not good. The best things when you give the time frame, and suddenly sent message said i give you 5 minutes, prior 30 minutes no call received.and gone. I informed them and call them back, they won't come back! VERY BAD experience. We tried it some delivery on weekday.they are more flexible and friendly. Very disappointed.
Called back the Sales person, who pick up the phone, and said manager will call back. Never call back and solve it out.if you need it in hurry, you may better carefully for that. Otherwise, please expect another 1-2 days or 2-3 hours to spend for handle the delivery which they need customer to take care for it. Not professional enough. The other company like thexxxxguy.they need more advance system at least you can track it. As listed company should spend more on track. Customers time also money and time.

Look a million dollars and your treated like Julia Roberts in pretty woman. But if you're looking casual the staff judge you and think you don't have the money to buy. So they call security. This is wrong. Won't shop at Harvey Norman again

The worst store in Melbourne! DO NOT SHOP HERE.

I have never experienced such terrible customer service, ever! The staff recommended that I purchase a laundry pedestal to go with the washer dryer combo I ordered online in JB Hi-Fi. He kept putting a bad word on JB Hi-Fi and asked me to cancel my order and purchase the laundry pedestal with a washer dryer combo from their store, so the delivery staff and assemble it all together with an additional fee. It's pretty expensive so I purchased gift cards (because I had a discount and we're not made out of money) to pay for it in full.

He called a couple of days later to tell me that the laundry pedestal IS NOT COMPATIBLE with the washer dryer combo. Not only they gave me false information, but made me pay more for the same product that I had already ordered elsewhere. THEY ESSENTIALLY SOLD ME PROBLEMS.

The least they can do is price match my original order, and give me the rest of my money back, and they have the audacity to blame me for using gift cards. It's only after sending a complaint to their head office that I could get a proper refund. Even when I went back to their store, the moment I mentioned refund, a store clerk instantly got snarky, and I had to explain again the whole situation. I can't believe I had to put in so much effort to get the bare minimum of service!

Hot tip to the staff and manager here: maybe instead of reasoning your way out of things and gaslighting your customers, give customers actual solutions that don't screw them over.

Unfortunately for us we did not receive the good service that others apparently received. In the computer section, we asked the salesman where the tablets were, and he said, over there, and waved in the direction, then walked away. Not one person came near us to help, there were no other customers in the area at all. We had to find the salesman again, to make a purchase. Definitely the worst non, customer service, in a Harvey Norman store, we have ever experienced!

I got my Tempur mattress from Domayne at Harvey Norman QV. David, Ian, Michael, Kayee all have been a great help. You guys are professional, welcoming, care about what you do, and listen to my needs. I feel heard and at ease to experience all kinds of mattresses and choose the one that's right for me.

I'm happy with my purchase and thank you for wish me a happy birthday.: D

JULY 2022
Harvey Norman has traded throughout the COVID lockdown and continues to offer great service.

Masks no longer required (July 2022) and staff still very customer focused.

It us a good selection of computer and IT stuff:)
service is patchy - some staff are excellent and go to great length to explain / compare, while others seem intent simply on selling you anything.
They generally have stock in store so there isnt a waiet your goods.
Its attached to the Domayne store which has some interesting furniture - especially for city apartments
September 2018 update:
The store has great advice on homewares, electronics and furniture (via the Domayne Store within the complex).
Service has jumped a notch and is now very good. Its my go-to store for electrical goods, TV and audio plus home security

One of the worst store I have ever been to, giving out false information. In the morning I called Harvey Norman Preston said the Dyson hair straightener is not working. The sale assistant told me to bring it to any Harvey Norman nearby for a repair. I bring in a Dyson hair straightener to Qv with a receipt told them the products is not working and happy for them to send off for repair.

First they said having receipt doesn’t mean anything and my product is bought a year ago. I point out on my receipt is 4 months old and my warranty is 2 years. I also told them the product haven’t been used as I was moving house. The guy I believe to be store manager told me to contact Dyson and organise with Dyson to send back on my own. I told him then what the point of buying at Harvey Norman when they can’t honoured their consumer guarantees advertised. I bought a Dyson vacuum previously and it’s not working I bring it to the another store and they said they take it and send to Dyson then Dyson fix it and send it back to the store. The guy said consumer guarantees can be open ended and have different wording plus he said all items have different process, to be honest you can take vacuum but not hair straightener and they from the same company.

I also called Dyson to confirm they said please bring it to authorised seller to organise the product send back as I’m not buying the product directly with Dyson. After that huge argument, I bring the Dyson hair straightener back to Preston and guess what the service was completely different. The manager at Preston tested and said they can send the product back to Dyson on my behalf. I also asked Harvey Norman Preston does does Dyson hair straightener and Dyson vacuum has different process, they said if customers bought from any Harvey Norman store then they honoured repair doesn’t matter which product as long as it’s still under warranty. The staff at Harvey Norman said they couldn’t believe why QV didn’t take it.

I know retail hates repairs or return but please give out the right information and don’t lied to customer.

Always get good service when I stop in. Staff always ask if they can help. Also feel free to try and negotiate if you buy multiple items in one shop.
