Gradi at Crown reviews
71The food is ok. The cheese on the pizza is bland and lacking flavour. The same with salumi platter. It is a noisy atmosphere outside with it being located on the opposite bank to where the helipad is.
Best restaurant I’ve ever been to! Me and my partner go all the time for special occasions and we always get the gnocci.will never get a better pasta than here, we have to slow ourselves down and savour the bowl! Definitely recommend we love it so much
Service is poor, the restaurant is too noisy and the food is good but inconsistent. It’s a long wait for dinner on the weekends, and some of the staff were pretty rude and inattentive. Our main server was very polite though. The pizza is great. The pasta I had (the cassacare* with sausage) was very hard, felt undercooked. The tiramisu is amazing.
Ordered a $48 “rib eye on the bone”. Was given a colourless close to minute steak, a wrinkled mushroom “kebab” that had been sat on the pass for hours and about 100grams of gluey mash potato. When calling the server over I was made to feel like I’d done something wrong despite being very polite. Had they actually tried to listen to my complaint (rather than offering another portion of mash) id maybe see this in a different light. Arrogant service staff and in my experience below average food. There are some cracking places to eat in Melbourne so worth looking elsewhere, although I hear the pizza is good!
Buzzing, busy atmosphere. We sat on the bar side and was a little quieter and more intimate. Margarita pizza was so authentically Italian, it was beautiful. Huge pizzas, I couldn’t finish mine and they offered to pack it to take home. Pizzas around $25-30. The tiramisu was delicious, served in its own little pot, it was so fresh and flavors well balanced and not too rich, I loved the added touch of mini macarons on top, also big enough to share. Staff are flat out busy but attentive and friendly.
Came and asked a table for 10 plus baby because we couldnt reserve a table ahead of time. Was told to wait 30mins which was fair enough. Came back to check and was told to wait until we get a text. Waited 15mins, got a text, everyone arrived and we were ready to go in. Got told to wait another 5 mins, which turned out to be another 30mins after I checked 3 times. We waited from 6: 30pm to 7: 50pm to be seated. From this point it doesn't even matter of the food tastes good or not. If you think your restaurant is full and can't fit 10 people then I'd rather be sent away happy eating somewhere else, than to make us wait 1hour 20mins and not even an apology. Unbelievable. Never had a worse experience.
Went here for around Easter time (4th time here). The place was packed but the service was amazing and so was the food. The guy very attentive - it was like we had our very own waiter My only complaint - don't change your menu - you took away my favorite dish: (
Honestly - it’s was Ok, probably a little pricy for an Italian restaurant, but food was good, pasta was delightful! Coffee was fantastic! But next time I would go back to Longrain!
I can not speak highly enough of this place, fabulous staff, fabulous food. I had the barramandi and it was delicious!
Lunch with my son a d his partner. The entree of mixed olives, and olives stuffedwith veal, oysters Natural, whow faultless. But then the pizzas came out and I swear in all my time on this earth I have never had a better pizza, no bull. The service was also not good it was great, they made you feel at ease, they were friendly but not annoying. I had a great experience. Hey people I don't suck up to any one or any business but these people know how tovdo it all. And That's That!
If you want the Italian experience, Gradi is the place to be. Lovely Italian food and wines. Desserts were good too. Service was quick and very friendly. Highly recommended.
Have been here for lunch on a Sunday. Even though it was packed, the waiter and the overall service was on top of everything. The food was very nice. Had some antipasti and pizzas. The pizza was as it should be. Desert was very delicious as well. We will come back
Service sucks. Still waiting for my pizza after forty minutes. Waiter did not allow us to sit at a table away from direct sunlight because those tables were for 4 pax but later those tables were given to other couples. When we could not stand the heat, we asked to change table and the waiter told us those couples are waiting for friends but clearly it is a lie. We are still here and no one came to join the couple at the table for four. Discrimination in OZ land?
Now you haven't eaten a pizza until you have been here. These are proper pizzas and they will amaze you. Made with passion for the passionate.
UPDATE
Much better; venue, food and service. JT-May 2019.
PREVIOUS
Not the same caliber.
On the back of the previous success of Brunswick East venue this venue was established.
Sadly not the same food nor quality nor atmosphere.
The original Gradi 400 is the place to go.expensive Pizza but worth the trip and finding a car park.
Food. Location. View. Everything & more! Service was amazing, as was the food. One of the best restaurants in Melbourne. Will be revisiting very soon. Grazie Gradi!
Proper Italian food in the centre of Crown. Staff are attentive and friendly. Pizzas are the highlight. The simple Margherita I had was simple, crispy, balanced and delicious. The Spaghetti Carbonara was a little off though. Our large group was served promptly on New Year's Eve afternoon.
Food is a 5 but felt like we were being rushed. Have been here nearly every visit to Melbourne and spent alot of money here on good food and wine and even entertained business here. If you are looking for an Italian experience in the heart of the Crown precinct then this is a must. Happy customers again and we will definitely be back.
Love this restaurant. Genuinely delicious foods across mains, entrees and desserts and upscale decor makes this place an easy place to keep coming back to like I have!
Really nice food, our waiter Carlos was amazing didn't get anything wrong and was on top of everything. It was a little expensive, but if your looking to treat yourself for that special occasion I would highly recommend it. You may need to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
