Glicks Balaclava reviews
67My family and I drove from the other Glick store in Caulfield South which had closed earlier in the afternoon. We arrived in the Balaclava store at 6pm. The man who served us wouldn't make the effort to prepare a bagel for me with salmon and cream cheese. He said that he couldn't do that as the store closed at 630 pm. He was rude, lazy and unapologetic and clearly could not be bothered to do anything extra for a customer. I can't remember the last time that I was treated so poorly as a customer. They've lost my business.
Every single bite we purchased had a taste of the of t e best moments of our childhood. Can’t wait to be back! Well done Glicks!
This is a small family owned chain of kosher bakeries in Melbourne. They are very popular and you can expect to queue at peak times. In the past they have not a had a reputation for cleanliness.
Quite small and there wasn't a lot of choice. I ordered a salad for $15 and there was hardly anything in it. They even charged extra for tiny pieces of salmon. Quite disappointed as Glicks is a lovely business.
Overpriced bagels with limited bread choices. Was there at lunch time and some flavours were already sold out. Not impressed. Charged me extra for adding some vegetables. Bagels were hard and not very pleasant. Had far better bagels elsewhere. The fried fish was served cold. It was hard to swallow. Never had I been served cold fish before.
The bagels are spectacular. I had a sesame seed bagel made up with cream cheese, avocado and smoked salmon and almost died because it was so good. The place is also very clean and the staff are friendly. The lady who served my friend and I made our bagels just perfect - top notch - will return! THANK YOU!
Glicks is a very nice environment to purchase made up bagels and variety of delicious cakes and cookies.
Fantastic bagels, fresh and well seasoned.
Unfortunately didnt get to try fillings as at 720pm everything was put away and closing. Was lucky to grab some bagels to take home.
Maybe adjust your opening times.
Glicks definitely has the best bagels in Melbourne. They're a regular staple in our house and we absolutely love them. The rugelach are also sensational
Bagels. The best bagels. Just go and get yourself some - try the “everything bagel” you’ll love it. Cheap too.
Excellent bagels but everything else is very pricey considering the bakery a couple doors down is way cheaper
The quality as well as size of food items has decreased since the unfortunate passing of Mr Glick. BDE. What was once a loved weekly experience has become a feint memory
It offers a basic selection of simple salads (eg, beetroot, coleslaw, egg) & a freshly baked variety of bagels for a quick lunch. Seating can be limited. There's a fridge with soft drink options & a coffee machine. Also on sale (separate from the cafe) are bagels, bagel roles, challahs, pita bread. There's easy access to the sho. No steps. Prices are moderate.
In my experience with bagels which is limited to trying them in Canada, Melbourne, and New Zealand - I was curious about Glicks, they have various flavours, yet the inside of the bagel is not dense, heavy, and chewy as you would expect, its actually airy, similar to bread with holes in it. I tried about 5 of the flavours multiple times for 3 weeks, and the results were the same. I hope they can improve them.
Bagels taste great even without condiments. Staff can be a bit slow at times, often have to wait long periods of time to get my food.
Bagels, Bagels, Bagels! They do have other stuff, but Bagels is why you come here. Bewildering array of different types, always fresh and yummy!
Shame the bagels were not traditional boiled bagels but we're just bread rolls fashioned as bagels. I did ask to buy bagels but we're given bread rolls instead - they may look similar but the texture for a bagel is very distinctive and these were not what I was expecting
I hate to sound snobby but the bagels are sub standard. I have been spoiled by REAL bagels in the US and these are not it. The rest of the offerings are nothing special.
One of Melbourne's kosher 'institutions'. Very popular with the regulars who look like they've been going there for years. Great service from the young man and manager of the shop. So cheerful, considering the passing of Mr Glick senior, recently. The salmon bagel was AMAZING; full to the brim with fresh ingredients. You may also eat in for coffee etc. We thought it was also excellent value considering what we received. Bravo.
Stopped in for some food, while visiting from California. Didn't get to eat anything, but place looks setup nice.
