Fowles Wine reviews
68We had an outstanding wine tasting and dining experience at Fowles. It is easily accessed off the Hume Freeway and we were both impressed at first sight. It is quite an impressive complex. We had booked a tasting experience and lunch. It was a Monday and the winery was not very busy. We were fortunate to have the owner, Matt, take us through the wines. He was very flexible with the wines we could taste and told us about the history of the winery and the different approaches taken to the different wine ranges. It was one of the most interesting wine tastings we have done and we also enjoyed the wines! We tended to prefer the Stone Dweller range but also some of the Ladies who Shoot their Lunch wines. We then moved to the restaurant where the very friendly and competent staff provided great service. We chose the steak and lamb dishes for our mains - both were very tasty but the steak stood out as excellent. We finished off with a very rich chocolate pudding and excellent coffee. We departed with full stomachs and a box of excellent wines. And all good value for money.
Food was nice. Got lunch quickly but was sitting there for 20 mins waiting to order more wine and desert. So we just left
I loved the food. We had the porthouse and the eggplant. The rustic setting, gorgeous furniture and the beautiful view makes it a great place with a wonderful vibe
Fowles, such a relaxing environment, tranquil views and wonderful fresh food with delicious wines. Once we finished lunch we wandered into the tasting room. There we were helped by Robin to a such wonderful end of our experience at Fowles.
Excellent service and menu. Six of us had an amazing lunch here today in the outdoor courtyard with the bookings juggled to seat us in the shade on a very hot day. The mushroom tacos, the greens with feta and the citrus tart were standouts.
Thank you Tess for looking after us so well.
We look forward to enjoying the wines purchased from the gift store on our way out.
Steak was gristley but tasty. The seeded mustard sauce left a burnt after taste. Potatoes were well cooked but tasteless and lukewarm. Chocolate fudge cake was delicious. Coffee was nothing to boast about but was nice enough. Overall was good, a little bit underwhelming.
Breakfast was average with sourdough that was like concrete.
The saving grace of the visit was a great selection of wine to purchase from the cellar.
Great venue, and great for kids too. Perfect spot to stop half way when heading to the high country or Murray River from Melbourne.
Beautiful relaxed professional service. Weekend love music. Great food and there wine is divine! Large facilities indoor and out. Great for kids including slides!
Perfect! Everything from venue with awesome attention to detail, to service and food! I had the steak for my main and it was spot on. I can’t fault it and if you can.then you should get a CT scan because something ain’t right up there lol.
I’ll def be back and will be my go to place.
Went on a busy Sunday, had to wait ages for food, $35 medium rare porterhouse was very chewy, ran out of frog in the pond desserts for the kids, had to keep asking for bottles of water and took ages to get finished plates cleared
Great place, awesome for kids. Would have been 4 stars but my steak was only just warm, the duck fat potatoes were room temp if that and the zucchini was cold.
Wonderful! A beautiful oasis, a must stop over along the Hume Highway.native flower garden and spa ious, creative interior.apart from food, wine and service. Can't wait to return.
Moving up here a few years back as a wanky latte sipping, city dweller I had concerns I wouldn’t be able to get my fix. I was wrong.great food and coffee - Now with the stunning new building and the great views (which to be fair have probably been there for millions of years) it’s just getting better and better. Make it a point to stop in.
Highly recommend Fowles winery for lunch or dinner great service, great food. Recent renovations are amazing. Staff went over and above. A credit to the management. Always worth the drive from Geelong.
Very excited to get into the new restaurant, menu is awkward, service is patchy, food was average, wine was good - overall disappointed!
We had one of each of the charcuterie, was nice. Delicious steak with potatoes and beans/courgette. The Pinot went down nicely. Modern decor. Service was above average. Pleasant lunch, worth a visit.
When travelling the Hume we always try to stop for at least a coffee if not lunch which is always an enjoyable experience. Now made even better with a fabulous new restaurant. Congratulations to the owners and all involved in the design & build.
Have known about Fowles Winery for many years but had never visited, even though it's close to Shepparton, what a regret that has been on my behalf.
Have been missing one of the nicest wineries in the region.
Had a though tasting of all their red wines & found them all very nice.
Had the Eye Fillet steak (rare cooked) and it was beautiful, cooked perfectly to my tasting and it almost melted in your mouth.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Perfect place to stop on the way to or back from Bright / Alpine region. Staff knowledgable and accommodating. Cheese board was excellent - get it!
