Fowles Wine

My partner and I had an amazing visit at Fowles. Great service from Alicia, generous wine tastings and overall a great experience.

The wine, food and venue are all great. Service is hopeless. When we arrived at 2pm looking for food staff told us the restaurant was booked out and they couldn’t help. Fair enough but the restaurant area was clearly half empty and it took another patron to mention that platters were available. We ordered platters and 2 glasses of wine and were told we couldn’t enjoy our food outside despite numerous empty tables. Only one glass of wine arrived. We asked 3 times for the second one and staff behind a fully stocked bar informed us they couldn’t help and we had to wait for it to come from the restaurant, by which time our food had come and gone. Clearly some operations/service issues to work through but we will give it another shot next time we head to Bright.

Great place for breakfast if you’re heading Nth, nothing to much trouble for the staff, surrounded by lovely gardens and views.

Very friendly staff and best services, my husband and I had a good lunch in here, highly recommended for the food and for the environment!

Lovely place with excellent wines. Good dining inside and out. The buildings and gardens are high quality.

This was our first visit here and the winery venue itself is beautiful. Wine was fantastic but for us the let down was the food. We ordered the pasta and the lamb, both dishes we found to be quite flavourless and bland. The pasta at $34 wasn’t much more than a bowl of papardelle with little trace of meat or any sauce. The lamb dish was better but very much lacking in any flavour or salt etc
We also asked to sample the wine before buying a bottle and we thought it was strange that we were given one set of samples and expected to share these… a sample each would have been nice.

Positives outweigh negatives
Positives are: Beautiful setting, beautiful views from front ‘tasting’ bar, the main restaurant and also the pretty terraced side garden, good range of food choices.
Negatives are: Untrained and unsophisticated floor staff.
Slow food delivery, of not brilliantly cooked food, badly staggered times between courses (did they forget our mains?) - 3 mains sat under lights for ages then arrived less than hot- then two meals were delivered 5 minutes after the initial 3 meals served.
Toilets not checked during busy service times. For our tastes only 2 wines were really outstanding.
Summary- feel bad commenting on staff as I know regional venues have a limited staff pool and country staff tend to be less savvy. But training could alleviate alot of that. Covid must also impact the range of staff available to venues. It’s such a shame as room and outlook is beautiful.

From the incredible wine, to the delicious food, to the amazing staff, and the occasional live music. What more could you ask for? !

Took a girlfriend for her birthday, from booking to arrival, the progression of lunch to the spectacular finale everything was so well done. Highly recommended

Once again a lovely afternoon. Fabulous food and great service. Do yourself a favour if you are looking for a break when driving along the Hume Highway it's an excellent place to have a break.

Lovely staff, exquisite setting, nice facilities. Oh, and the wine. ​ Well I'm slightly the poorer financially after my visit, but looking forward to savouring some excellent produce.

Meals where great. But they closed the kitchen before we had our desert. Not happy. The waitress didn't even try to get any desert for us.

Our experience at Fowles Winery was amazing! Our tasting with Allicia was the best wine tasting we've ever had. She was informative, funny and very generous. This was followed by an incredible lunch. The service and food were second to none. Not to mention the amazing view and beautiful architecture! Thank you Fowles Winery and Allicia! We will be coming back

Very nice fancy place. We did the wine tasting and had some food as well.
Wine tasting was okay. Good value for 10 bucks and weren’t stingy with the wine. Not my favourite wine in the world but was still pretty good. However the experience was a bit deminished by the staff consistently mentioning about the payment. Felt a bit rushed out although they still went through the whole tasting and even gave us some extras too

The food was mostly great. The lamb was very tender and perfectly cooked but i the flavours of the dish over all were a bit strong but not necessarily in a bad way. Like at some points it overpowered the lamb which is sad because it was resally good. I also tried their cheese selection and the meat selection. Pretty good. No complaints here. But the real star dish was their brownie. Best brownie I’ve ever had and id

Lovely and clean and very friendly staff. Pity the restaurant was closed but maybe next time we visit we can enjoy a meal.

Absolutely fantastic venue for lunch, with superb food and magnificent views. An easy drive from Melbourne for lunch and a great location to meet friends from northern Victoria. I couldn't fault the service and impressive extension to the venue.

Fowles Winery was a fantastic winery on our wine tour of the region. They were super accommodating to our group of 13 that included a mix of wine drinkers and non wine drinkers.
Jack was great with our tasting. Super generous and welcoming.
The location was gorgeous. We will definitely be coming back to try the restaurant and truly take in the scenery. Thank you so much to everyone at Fowles.

We had a fantastic mother's day lunch here today. It is such a great venue for a group catch up.lots of space, not noisy (they used a sound technician to help with the new refurb), amazing gardens and delicious food and wine! Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this place! The aesthetically stunning (yet relaxed) atmosphere, the extremely attentive (yet relaxed) wait staff enhanced our experience. The food was top drawer, simple combinations of flavour creating mouthwatering goodness. Inspired stop on our way through to Melbourne.
