Fonda Mexican reviews
81 Had a chagrilled corn with my quesadillas. The corn was extremely uncooked and it was still frozen and cold. It didnt look "chargrilled" at all but microwaved to unfreeze.
A waitress apologied and replaced it with the new one but it took them ages (about 15 mins or longer?) for it as if they're cooking the main steak dish. The corn is supposed to be an entree?
This proves that the chef staff didnt even check what's out to their customers at all. Could hardly call them "chefs" based on how they cooked the corn.
They charged $5 for this. Ridiculous. Won't visit again.
Twice I’ve ordered on Ubereats and both times they haven’t included the add ons that they insist on. The ‘extras’ are quite expensive and it’s disappointing to be charged for things you aren’t receiving.
Tacos tasted great, the normal corn chips tasted better than the darker ones and there were plenty of toppings. The pulled beef burrito was flavourful with a bit of spice and the chicken burrito has a nice charred aroma. The fish taco was also nice with a side of lime, nothing amazing though.
Fabulosa!
Hands down the best tacos I have tasted in Melbourne. The tacos selection is exceptional
The margaritas are good too!
I am lost of words.
Very rude staff. The girl working at the front was very rude. Without any welcome she just asked us to sit and ordered through bar code. Once the meals arrived we asked if there is any sauce included and she rudely replied "No" and started walking away. We said can we order sauce and she replied quickly order thru bar code without even coming towards us. We were the only 2 customers at that time. Food was good but very disappointed.
Went here yesterday with some mates for dinner. Overall the place is nice and the service is friendly, HOWEVER the prices here are massively dispositioned to what is being served. My friend ordered the margarita tasting paddle for $35 which was literally 4 tiny shot glasses, barely a sip in each. Food seemed adequately priced at face value, however when served were extremely underwhelming portion sizes. Had to swing past maccas on the way home.
Overall average at best. Better off looking elsewhere.
Food and drinks were delish however the text message saying your table is ready should be more concise and less of a paragraph.
Went for dinner love the atmosphere food was ok I hate the ordering system I feel antisocial on my phone ordering for alot of my time
Not sure what the fuss is all about bcoz I certainly don't think the food quality is any good. I was there yesterday nite & I came away very disappointed. Overall, the food were not very mexican.the nachos were tough & chewy.the rest of the food taste more of lime. Will not be back.
Warm atmosphere, and the food and drinks were great - looking forward to coming back in the future
Very bad service. We waited 15 min to be seated. I had to get up and asked for my drinks and food.
All the staff in their phone and not working
Very bad experience
Love this place. It's my go to place at Chadstone. Tasty food and good portion. Love their chicken salad.
I have visited Fonda at Chadstone twice, both times the staff were friendly and helpful in getting us seated (with no reservation). So easy to order and pay from the table, the menu is fabulous and everything I ordered was delicious on both occasions. Highly recommend.
Food was nice n fresh but despite so many staff they forgot about one of our main dishes (quesadilla). After waiting for like 20 mins with one main we had to remind them about our order. The staff was prompt but not apologetic no smile nothing. Felt as if we were wrong asking them about our order.
Turned up with some friends for a weeknight catch up not really knowing what to expect. The greeter at the door had all the charm of a limp celery stick, we were seated fairly quickly in the middle of a busy restaurant. Ordering was easy via the qr code and based on the whopping prices, I expect a fairly decent meal. I ordered the Chipotle chips and pulled pork quesadillas. The chips were slammed down in front of me before our drinks had arrived. Chips were cold and were replaced after 20 minutes after I flagged down a staff member. Replacement chips were hot and tasty. My problem was with the bland quesadillas which I would describe as sad. They contained large lumps of pineapple and some tiny traces of tasteless pink goo which I think was meant to be pork but lacked any flavour or texture. It actually looked like cat food mixed with lumps of pineapple and a few limp baby spinach leaves scattered here and there. I am giving one star because my lemon lime and bitters was delicious. Do NOT waste your money like me. Annoyed that I paid $30 for a very dismal meal. "Service" was brisk and mechanical, the server did not enquire as to why I did not touch anything nor cleared our empty glasses or offered any specials etc. My other friends agreed their burritos were passable but nothing special. Must also mention that staff in the open kitchen were definitely not wearing their masks properly.
Quesadillas are very tasty and filling. Fonda is known for its drinks so they were pretty good as well.
The corn chips really disappointed us - chips were dry, guac wasn't well salted (very bland) and overall not good at all.
Before I give my opinion, I just want to say that I'm entitle to my opinions and I willing share it with others online.
My husband and I went here for lunch and the atmosphere and service was good but had more negatives than positives.
First of all, their ordering system is online, not by a waiter. We had issues when we were ordering online and had to end up ordering at the counter, (no waiter ordering service). I can understand that this is the modern world with tech everywhere, but that to me is lack of service. People pay money for service.but very minimal was available here.
Secondly, the price for the food does not justify the quality or amount of food offered. The food was not great, it just looked fancy and presentatable but the quality and amount was bad.
I would not recommend to eat here.the restaurant just looks lavish but is not worth your money.
Fonda is always the goto Mexican taco place in my mind! Nice service, great deco and tasty food! Everything that’s with chicken or fish, go for that! Went to the Richmond Fonda and this one! Always - pleasure to dine here.
Great service, FANTASTIC food. Cocktails and spirits are a bit expensive, and the ordering app is definitely an acquired taste, but the overall vibe is well worth the visit!
Current staff line up is exceptional.
The crew seem like the get along nicely.
Been in hospitality 16 years and seldom do I receive the quality of attentive, thoughtful and genuine service like we did.
Upselling skills weren’t pushy but tempting.
Wait service was warm and friendly.
Food came out quickly and was of good fresh quality.
Vegan options are solid and drinks selection isn’t overwhelming.
Wifey and I had a lovely time and received nice farewells.
One of Chady’s best dine ins.
Thank Chady Fonda Crew.
