Fonda Mexican reviews
76Good food and drinks although the girls are cold, rude and uninviting. They need to learn to smile because they're in customer service. There was one girl with longer blonde hair that was friendly and welcoming.
Way overpriced and not authentic Mexican food, has the typical Melbourne watery vibe as a venue too. Try it once but wouldn’t recommend as a go to
The food here is modernised Mexican, not your traditional type, and it’s pricey but it’s still really, really great. It’s always fresh and it’s an awesome spot to take friends visiting Melbourne due to the size of the place and the relaxed and chill vibe with great tunes.
Unfortunately, it was not a great experience. They food tasted fine until i got sick from the fish taco and spent hours of my night chucking up the dinner i consumed a few hours earlier. My partner and I went there for an early dinner, waiter was a tad sassy but that added charm. Our meal tasted fine but I got sick and the only thing I ate that my partner didn't was the fish taco. I noticed that it tasted funky and a bit weird at the time, however, I didn't expect there to be a food safety problem at a place that I've usually heard good things about. Probably wont go back.: (
Great cocktail, good to ok taco fillings, sub standard and dry taco shells. For $8 tacos expect ALOT Better.
Can only speak for the location on chapel st, as this is a franchise but the meals were delicious. Small meals I thought but buy a few small plates and share. $40 for 1 litre of sangria felt steep as most of it was ice: (
There's a lot of Mexican in Melbourne and Fonda hold their own. The deserts are amazing as well. Great value, good service and a nice diversity to the offerings. A regular haunt for us on a warm afternoon.
Arrived 10 min before the kitchen closed, but they were still happy to take our order and serve us for the next half an hour. Fonda is always high quality a fresh, and while I'd never describe it as cheap, I think its a reasonable value for money
Lovely atmosphere, good Mexican food. The kids in our group loved the chicken and beef nachos. The prawn tacos were fab, I really enjoyed the fish ones and chicken burrito!
I shared a fantastic meal with my boyfriend, Blake. Service was friendly, and the overall experience was great. I'll definitely be coming back.
Been a few times. The food comes out pretty quick and consistently good in quality. It's great to go and get a few dishes to share, which also makes it not too expensive with a drink across the visit. Staff are very friendly and the facilities are clean. If you're looking for Mexican on Chapel, its the place to go!
Excellent food, friendly staff. Very accommodating to vegans. I had the herbed mushroom quesadillas - very tasty and very filling and the vegan aioli was to die for. Great cocktails as well - don't miss out on the lychee margarita.
Felt like it should have been a table service venue (as it looks so nice inside) but the counter service works well enough.
Still loving this old chestnut. Looks like they may have moved to table service on the slow days perhaps?
Amazingly flavourful food and delicious cocktails accompanied by fantastic music. Pleasant, friendly staff and standard to cheaper prices on most things for Chapel street. I'd recommend getting the vegan chipotle chips. They're super tasty and the serving size is great for just $8.
Vibey place but my falafel burrito was quite average and more of a coleslaw burrito than anything. It was also expensive ($15-$17) for the quality of food.
Relatively upmarket Mexican food restaurant in a trendy part of town. The restaurant itself is quite large with a rooftop bar. The menu is extensive and service is reasonable. Horchata is delicious and they also do some pretty nice margaritas. I also love their house made chilli sauce. I would have given a five star, but took one off because their wifi (which is advertised on the menu as “free wifi” wasn’t working, and our waiter couldn’t care less. I suspect it had been down for a long time and will probably not be fixed for a long time. I expect better when paying over $40 per head to dine there.
