Fonda Mexican reviews
87 Not at all impressed in being forced to order via my phone, and being charged a 1.5% surcharge every time I ordered another drink etc. When I went up to the front to ask if I can manually order to avoid this the staff member mentioned the surcharge applies to all transactions, when I asked what the surcharge was code I had no explanation. When I go to dine in I expect personal service, and to be charged a surcharge to order via phone, and then to get an email with the address being obtained through my Apple Pay details to give feed back, which is why I avoid QR bs.
Drinks were amazing, food was pretty good, except tortilla chips come with nowhere near enough salsa and guacamole for a quarter of the serving.
Always a favourite for my Husband and I. The service is fast, the food is amazing and staff and friendly and accommodating. If you're couple looking for a nice date night out, definitely give this place a try.
Love the grilled chicken salad, so fresh and tasty for something that’s suppose to be good for u! We went in a group and tried the tacos and nachos and everyone was very pleased with what they ordered
We had an enjoyable family meal with friends. Good food and many margarita variants to choose from
Food was great
I just dislike ordering through the app, considering they bring your meal out to you
This was my first time here. The food was beautiful. I had the side of chips with the pork quesadilla. The chips were nicely cooked and seasoned. The pork in the quesadilla was full of flavour, tender and juicy. Writing about it makes my mouth water.think I have found a regular Mexican restaurant to eat at. And don't forget to order the margharitas, yum. The only thing I might be disappointed about is finding some avocado skin in my guacamole.
Food was very good. Had the nachos and a couple of the taco options and were very impressed with the quality and quantity. Drinks were delicious only thing I could fault was the service. There was obviously not enough staff on as everyone was run off their feet. Did not enjoy the ordering through the scanning barcode. So impersonal, can't ask any questions about the food and takes away from the dining experience. When we did go to ask the staff a question when they put our drinks down they were gone halfway through me speaking to them. Obviously an understaffing issue, as the staff working were otherwise pleasant and inviting. No empty glasses or plates were taken from our table when we dined. It makes no sense to have this form of service now that restrictions have lightened up. I would love to return for the food, in high hopes that proper waitstaff and service returns!
I visited this restaurant a couple of months ago and was told I’d have to order through the online menu, when I said I was paying cash the waitress said they didn’t accept cash. Cash is a legal tender so I thought this was appalling and decided to have my meal elsewhere.
The family set menu is good value and gives a good overview of what the menu has to offer. Friendly staff and good service. Had a lovely dinner. Thanks
Went to Fonda with a group of my friends. We ordered three jugs for the table and a few girls had a few individual cocktails. We were then informed that we wouldn't be receiving one of them regardless of paying until some of the other alcohol was consumed. Odd but ok. Some of the girls had to wait a while for their second drink which was frustrating. We then received our food. One girl was given the wrong meal to begin with and my friend and I received a chicken burrito that had pink chicken and all the carrot bunched in the middle of the burrito that was just warm enough. The meal was quite disappointing and flavourless. We then were talking, some of us are high energy, therefore that led to being cut off after three drinks over the course of two hours. Interesting as they didn't even offer us any water as well. Very disappointing experience, would not return.
Friendly service and the food is very nice.
Would recommend mushroom quesadillas and nacho with pulled beef.
OMG
What a fantastic experience. Fabulous food. Expertly paird wine. And an awsome desert to finish.
Also wondarful service 100% coming back. Thank you. X
Miserable experience, all the doors to the outside were open and its 7 degrees Celsius, all they cared about doing was prioritising ubereats orders, our order was cold when they eventually brought it to the table, customer service literally didn't exist. Horrible way to start back up after the lock down.wont be returning.
The chicken in my burrito tasted like hot dog? Lucky I like hotdog, chips were sensational, well seasoned and the smokey Chipotle they are served with was devine.
This was deemed as a good option for a dinner at knox. We got the pulled pork quesadillas and chickpea falael (i think) burrito with nachos as a side.
The vegetarian option was a good one with a good falafel. However the pulled pork quesadillas were small in size, but very good.
The nachos were disappointing as we were waiting for that. This was overdone with salsa and guac whilst there wasn't alot of cheese.
It was the nachos that put my mood slightly off, but everything was quite satisfying. Plus, make a reservation so to avoid sitting outside in winter ;)
Food was tasty, really overpriced for size though. I left hungry even though I spent $21 on vegetarian nachos. Bit sad that I had to pay $5 extra for black beans (same cost as adding meat!) even though I had to remove avocado because I can't eat it. Much much better Mexicans for better value in Melbourne. Also, no con queso! Only guacamole as a starter dip.
When Fonda Knox first opened I would've gladly rated it 5 stars however over time it has steadily declined.
Last night we found the menus to be very sticky, the toilets were not pleasant and the food is just not the same. The food doesn't have that delicious zing to it anymore and the chips serving has become tiny (not to worry the chips have lost their zing as well).
Fondas gone down the Nandos road. Exciting at first but through perhaps change in management/owners became totally overrated.
Was a regular customer. Won't go again though unfortunately.
Service is always great though.
Quiet casual lunch, good size portions for small eater. Green salad was delicious with prawn taco. Awesome coconut Margherita. Daughter had nachos. Good service by staff, order and pay at counter.
Very overpriced, small portions devoid of flavour hidden by excessive spice. 18 bucks for a tiny margherita is rather rich.
Is this what REAL Mexican food is actually like? 'Cos this is a huge improvement on what I've had in Australia before. I don't recall a single thing that was deep fried in cheese, even.
