Fonda Mexican reviews
81The food was pretty good but the service was surprisingly bad. We were asked to sit on very little tables even though there were bigger tables with cushion seats and there were only a couple of people there. Then I asked for black beans instead of chick peas and they said they could not swap them and I would just have to pay $5 extra for black beans with seemingly not a second to think about helping me out. Also the soda water was not on the menu and is actually on tap but they didn’t offer it until I asked about it.
One of my favourite restaurants. Best tacos in Melbourne. Great drinks too and very friendly staff. I go here regularly and will continue!
I find Fonda really confusing because the core dishes just don't taste like Mexican to me. Call it Mexican inspired or something. The food is fresh.
I've enjoyed Fonda Mexican at chady, however this one had a smell of greasy oil, the tacos and quesedilla were stale, the service was good.
Wouldn't recommend for food, needs an upgrade.
We enjoyed eating at Fonda Collingwood. Food was one of the best mexican we've had and the service was excellent. Highly recommend it.
Customer service is dreadful - place was practically empty for lunch on 26 June. We asked for a slightly larger table because we’re bigger guys and the front of house waitress refused. We went down the rd to Hotel Jesus where the customer service was great.
Me and my partner love this place at first the food was really good but the second time I was a bit disappointed as the chicken burrito wasn’t as tasty as the other items ordered.
This has to be the most uninspired Mexican restaurant in Melbourne. Banal and bland food with absolutely no homage to traditional Mexican cuisine. Don’t expect any spice either.
My husband surprised me by taking the family here for Mother’s Day. We were 30m early, (literally waiting at the doors when they opened) and from the moment we walked in the service was amazing! They had no troubles seating us early and in a spot that allowed us to be super comfortable with two kids and a pram! The food was brought to us faster than we could eat, it was hot and freaking delicious! The staff checked in a few times, and were so lovely. Chatting away to our daughter and it was just a wonderful day! Thank you!
For vegans: the mushroom quesadilla made with vegan cheese and aioli is amazing! Lots of other vegan options too!
Stay are friendly, fun and positive.
We arrived Friday night with 8x people and no booking. They accommodated us well and were super friendly! The food and drinks were easy to order on their app and arrived quickly. Delicious and great choice of drinks without booze and with. Definitely revisit.
I made a take out order, 3 more people arrived after me but the staff attended first to those after me and I had to wait 25 minutes to receive an order.disrespect.must respect the arrival time (Fonda Collinwgood)
Had dinner tonight for my Birthday and what can I say! This was the best Mexican food I've ever had! The quesadilla (chicken) was AH-MAIZ-ING! Great prices and great cocktails not to mention all the yummy food! Service by all the staff was fantastic and made us all feel so welcome! Will and have recommend to anyone that will listen!
Would have to be one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne.from the ambience, to the food AND the service, Fonda Collingwood has NEVER wavered! Impeccable quality, with the staff being super accommodating and always happy to help! If you haven't tried this, it's an absolute MUST! The mouthwatering cocktails and food will have you wanting to go back every night!
Great place to catch up with friends on an afternoon. Good selection of wines, but the corn chips were a little stale. Otherwise, fantastic service from friendly staff
Let me be very clear. I HATE having to order my food and drink using my phone and credit card BEFORE I get anything to eat or drink. Whilst the staff were friendly and smiled a lot, what on earth would you tip them for?
The food was just ok. But a very handy location.
We love the Fonda in Richmond, so decided to take some family to this location. We had our infant son with us and when we arrived the staff went out of their way to accomodate us. The food and drinks were of the usual high standard and we had a great tine. Highlights of the day were the corn, the house salad and the drinks. Yum!
Had the grilled chicken salad. Very good and plenty big enough for lunch. Great for lunch and would eat there again anytime
Pretty yummy. Mex-Bim-Bap was very nice. A good mix of different flavours and textures. They also have different margaritas, beer, kombucha.
The service and kitchen is pretty quick and the interior design is quite comfortable but colourwise a bit much.
In general it was a very pleasant dinner experience.
