Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village reviews
101As a fairly recent arrival in Warrnambool, I visited the visitors' centre today and received such a great lot of help and information from Narelle. I plan to come soon to learn the whole history thing. Flagstaff Hill is a great asset to the city of Warrnambool.
This was an amazing place to visit with kids. Really takes you back in time to when things very simple.
Would definitely visit again when I am here for the sound and light show.
The ticket is for 2 days entry. The view from the light house is beautiful.
Spent about 3 hours here easy. The tea room was also very good.
The museum is good as well.
The code breaker puzzle was fun with the kids.
Absolutely loved it. Great holiday program for the kids. Got to do wood working with the triton club and meet a couple of the Maremma dogs on top of everything else.
We went there for the night show.
It was amazing and the rain felt realistic I would prefer having cushions in the chairs tho.
Great place to visit lots of history and knowledge friendly staff a fun day out for the family where everyone can learn some history and have fun at the same time
Absolute wonder hidden out in Regional Victoria. A place not to be missed at all. Sound and Light show was an absolute pleasure to experience. Do go there once.
The museum was well set out with the exhibits all close to each other. Staff very helpful and friendly. The night show was really good except for the spotlight that beams through the hologram during the video display.
Was very interesting but not all buildings were open, so a bit disappointed. A good 2 hours wandering around. Was angered at the discusting state of the area where the dogs that protect the penguins are kept
It was a nice place from outside as we didn't go inside since it was a hot day and hard to walk to the village. From outside it was looking good. You have to pay to get inside.
This is a must visit place, it only to just get the local update on events and sights worth seeing during your stay. The kids loved the actual village. They dress in old style clothes, sell lollies and old style candy. They have interactive displays like a pully rig to show kids how they moved heavy bale's of wool or stock onto the boats. Great all round
The village itself is great, worth 5 star. The night show on the other hand is a pure waste of time, I wouldn't go if the paid me. The employees were very helpful kind and good at their job. Also the media used were innovative with great quality.
The problem is the content. First of all it is just a low rent documentary and nothing else, that is it, 3 screens showing a superficial documentary about whales and immigration to Australia. The content just boring.
Could have made the screen time much shorter, talking about a local significant event and have a proper tour in the village with the staff talking and explaining what we see.
A great place to visit and worth the long drive. Flagstaff Hill is a state heritage listed site overlooking the beautiful Lady Bay. Today you can explore the site and gain a glimpse into the regions maritime heritage. Free entry and very friendly staff. Recommended!
The kids made tool boxes and birdhouses out of wood. The view of the ocean and surroundings are incredible. Great small town to walk through. Lots to learn about if you like to read and take your time. Feed the turkeys, fill in the eye spy sheet. Well worth the money.
Excellent, educational and well maintained. You can even take in your dogs during the day if they are well behaved. Night time show is fantastic too. - update dogs not allowed now
Very cute little town and very informative. We highly enioyed the small museum coming in, learnt a lot about the history of the area! The staff spread amongst the town were also very friendly and full of hidden information!
Good bit of fun, and learning about our dangerous coastline. Bit of walking involved, so if hips of knees are bad, suggest and aide to help.
It was great to learn about shipwrecks and see the objects in the museum. Its a lovely calm place which we can definately visit once in Waranambool.
It was like a mini Sovereign Hill without gold panning and on the waterfront side.
Good to pass time, needs a few more hands on activities though for the kids
Other than the lolly shop and Tavern not being open, this place was very good. Our volunteer tour guide, Leigh, was excellent! The evening Light & Sound show was not only educational, but impressive. I expected more people in period costume like the advertisement, however it was a 37 degree day so we are in fact very grateful that even our tour guide wore his full wool uniform. Super special shout out to the Tea Rooms, where we had an amazing scone lunch!
Really good. Its a "maritime" version of Ballarats Sovereign Hill, very interesting and for $19 entry each we wondered for 2 1/2 hours so we'll worth a visit.
