Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village reviews
101The museum provides you with good information on how some survivors made their way to land. Also shows life in the area with a replica village of the old days.
Wonderful high tea at tearooms with our craft group. Not rushed at all, very accommodating even without their 3rd staff member. Beautiful old crockery and linen. Great talk about the history and origin of blue willow design by Jennifer.
Love love love this place! Brought my 3 young kids here and they enjoyed it. They stop at every houses and took in all the little details. I love how they presented Warrnambool history here and definitively will come again. We took 3 hours to explore everything.
The village takes you back in time to the days of early Australian settlement and seafaring adventures. The knowledgeable staff bring this history to life. It is worth the visit, and kids will enjoy the light and sound show.
Lovely HighTea with friends. Although Jennifer and her assistant were down a Staff Member today, they carried on under pressure with smiles on their faces and calmness in their manner. Especially enjoyed Jennifer's information regarding the background of the original Willow Pattern china.
Food was lovely (best egg sandwiches ever!)
Thank you again Jennifer!
Worth it if going with kids. They get a list of things to find in the village and tick them off. A little treasure hunt. Beautiful scenery there by the ocean as well. Good day out.
Great night show and day visit. Would highly recommend both however it would have been good to have a few more actors in the town as we only saw 1 in the printing building and one in the lolly shop. Also the tearoom food is very mediocre and I would stick to the scones.
One star for content plus a second for seeming like they actually listened when I told them but -3 stars for the ruined experience as I sat there watching the two female turkeys stress or boredom plucking out their feathers, both have large areas of missing feathers already.
Maybe if I add this review there will be no doubt that they will receive the care they need as I know some places may ignore some problems and I don't want this place to do that.
They seemed really reasonable and listened when I told them so that's nice, but hopefully actions will be taken as well.
Nice place but it ruined my whole experience.
We were a little underwhelmed with Flagstaff Hill. Most of the buildings were closed off to visitors and those which were open had little in the way of information boards. Disappointed.
I was expecting worse to be honest, it's an interesting place to learn about Victoria's shipwreck coast and the shipwrecks that have taken place. The village itself I found a bit silly to be honest, like trying to recreate a 19th century village.even some dressed up staff! But the museum part of it, I found very interesting.
Fun place. Between the small but well curated museum and the village, this is a splendid place to spend a couple of hours. An excellent look at what life would have been like for the intrepid first European settlers.
One of my most favorite places. I was amazed as to how they have preserved the history that well. So beautiful and educational. There are so many beautiful sights once one enter the village. The facilities are astonishing great too.
Had an enjoyable time walking through the village and learning about the history. It was quiet during our visit and I'm guessing it would be busier during holiday season. Well worth a visit
Entry ticket to the village is $19 per adult. It has an indoor museum which showcase the ship wrecks and the history of the area. Outdoor village showcases the places and the culture that prevailed years ago. Good experience but no activities to do other than the cafe which serves great food
A real worthwhile visit.
Reasonable entry fee and good value.
Lots of history and very interesting.
Excellent place, obviously so much time and passion has gone into it. Save half a day to take it all in!
Great place to bring inquisitive kids who want to learn about maritime history. All the volunteers are fabulous and make it so worth the while.
We spent a good few hours looking all around, had a lovely morning tea (scones recommended) very friendly staff, a great place to see.
Brilliant! Compact area but so much to see - especially the reconstructed village with something attention to authentic detail. A must-see in Warrnambool.
