Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village reviews
101Had my son's birthday party here. He loved it. Staff made it very easy and we were very happy. We would definitely recommend to others and will likely do another party here in the future.
Such a nice place to visit and enjoy with kids and family and get some glimpse from past. Highly recommended place.
Very interesting outdoor museum that gives you a sense of how it felt to live in the village at the old times. The buildings are very well maintained yet they preserve their dated appearance. Workers at the stores use customs so you really think you are time traveling. Also the scenery is beautiful. Must go there while in Warrnambool!
Undoubtedly, a great place to visit in Warrnambool. Really enjoyed the way the museum and the 'light and sound show' (a 'must see') have preserved the history of Shipwreck cove. The village experience and the boutique eatery were equally good. However, wasn't impressed by the guide for the day experience. It seemed he was just filling in for someone. Someone more passionate and knowledgeable would make a huge difference.
What a beautiful place this is! Takes you back in time!
The whole village has been done with such great details that it doesn't feel like it's not real.
The museum gives so much information to read, the Tearooms are pretty where we had our coffee and scones with beautiful views of the village.
The light and sound show at night was worth it too, walking with lanterns in our hand with a tour guide and seeing the show where they told us about the fascinating stories of shipwreck was all amazing!
To top it off are the beautiful ocean views just from top of the light house or the hill.
The gift centre has a variety of things for every age group and the staff are exceptional.
A shoutout to Jill from the staff who made our trip memorable!
We went during the first weekends after the Great Victorian Lockdown of 2021, and it was a quite affair. The buildings were lovely and kempt, keeping to their traditional facades. I couldn't help but reminisce of my time at Sovereign Hill, a larger more lively version of Flagstaff Hill. Nonetheless, and experience to have here in Warrnambool. Best part - the big pot of tea and warm date scones with cream and jam at the Tea House inside the village.
The scones at the cafe were the best I have ever had, there made by the lady running the cafe, the village was a pleasant walk through time the staff were really informative.
My family and I dined at Pippies by the Bay restaurant which adjoins the maritime village information centre. The food and service from the staff was top notch. Definitely worth a visit.
It's an amazing place to visit but not very pram friendly would recommend bringing a carrier if going here rather then a pram
A great historic tour of what it may have been like living in Warrnambool in the late 1800's a working village. My wife enjoyed the lolly shop too
Wonderful experience for the whole family. Step back in time highly recommend if in Warrnambool. Lovely tea house and reasonable prices. Explore the area and climb the lighthouse.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. The displays and extensive written background information are excellent. After several hours of exploration it was lovely to recharge our batteries with a coffee and a plate of tasty scones. A highly recommended and enjoyable experience.
Amazing views and the place has the capability to take you back to that era. The night show is the real backbone of what brings people into this facility in flocks. Dont miss the Night show.
Bit of a ghost town. The outdoor bit was dull with very little interaction or information. Felt like it's best days were in the 90s and now it really needs extra investment. It struggles to emulate sovereign hill.
Amazing! Kids were given paper to play scavenger hunt and also food to feed the animals so they didnt get bored at all. They loved it. The places were very well maintaned although some area a bit dusty. The tea room was closed which was a big dissapointment, but overall a very worth visit if you come to warrnambool.
We went to the sound and light show. We booked our tickets online as it was during school holidays. There are two options to the main show area from the entrance (mini bus or walking option). We took the mini bus - it was only a 5 minute trip. Our bus driver had a lot of knowledge about the area and was happy to take questions from the passengers.
The show was spectacular and the seats also moved too. There are three shows combined into one (first people of the land, whaling and Loch Ard ship wreck).
Would highly recommend as an activity to do in the evening. Do wear warm clothes if you are going in winter.
We will visit the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village on our next trip in the future.
We done the night light and sound show and couldn't believe how great it was, from getting a boarding pass to the actual show. The photos doesn't do it justice.
Flagstaff Hill is a fantastic experience, I highly recommend to anyone with an interest in Australian or Maritime history
Truly a remarkable village setup maintained very well. The view of the sea right across was magnificent. Stroll around this place to relish the English trade setup.
Ample of free parking over there so don't worry about it.
Nearly attractions to keep you busy in Warrnambool - koala nature reserve and whale watching at Logans Beach.
Best place to visit with family, bringing back the olden days to present time, will come back again.
