Fish Fetish reviews
81 This place is absolutely awesome! The fish is incredibly fresh, the oil was fresh, the batter was fantastic!
The staff were really friendly too. If you are in the area do yourself a favour and come grab some food here! You won't regret it!
Portion of flathead was pitiful and cost $15.00. This shop should be ashamed for charging $15 for this tiny piece of fish. Go down the road to Shark Shack instead. They give a generous portion of flathead.
Oil oil oil, so much oil I can’t even oil. My brain just oil, and not even good oil. The chips were a bright yellow Quality of fish of the day was poor. Calamari and prawns were very chewy. Wouldn’t go back, felt so sick.
Very rare these days you go to a tourist area and get blown away with a shop actually delivers what they promise.
Bought a Hamburger with the Lot for a very modest price and every single ingredient was quality and made with care.
Beetroot, Egg, Pineapple, Bacon.plus the rest of the ingredients on a fresh toasted bun.
Every bite was heaven.
Thank You very much to guy who served me Sat morning. I wanted to come back and thank the shop personally.
Already told a dozen people how good it was.
Really appreciate people that take pride in what leaves the door.
Well 100% be back
Some of the best fish & chips I've had. I first tried them in 2019 and four years later, still the best. If I didn't live 4½ hours away I would have them more regularly. The scallops were perfectly cooked, which is not an easy task as most fish & chips establishments can't do it.
Ordinary at best. Guy behind the counter was nice enough but I think he just uses sir/madam niceties to lubricate the pending overpriced transaction.
Got a Grilled “Value” pack with some extra Calamari rings. Ran into $32 for a piece of Blue Grenadier, handful of garden salad, chips, 5 calamari rings and a Coke Zero.
Was charged extra for 2 extra lemon wedges (I offered to pay, but seriously.he couldn’t just throw them in as part of a $30+ order?)
Waited in the shop about 20mins for the order and heard the staff arguing out the back including an ‘F’ bomb which we all heard in the waiting area.
Food was very mediocre and a very weird texture. Still feel like I have a mouthful of oil from the chips even after a can of the ultimate degreaser- Coke Zero.
No doubt they make bulk coin during the peak season given the location and lack of competition but it definitely wouldn’t be for the quality of tucker or value.
For the same/similar money, go next door into the Conti and get a a nice pub feed.
Best fish & chips we've had for a long time, if ever. The Snapper was perfectly cooked and the chips were crunchy. All the food was extremely well priced - not a rip off compared to other outlets in the main street. Very friendly staff too. Definitely worth a trip to Sorrento.
Friendly customer service, food was fresh.the batter on fish was nice n crispy outside and fish soft n tender inside. Price is not as cheap as in melbourne, but everything in Sorrento is overpriced. We enjoyed eating it at the beach. 4.5 stars
This is everything I could have ever asked for and more. The food met expectations, they didn’t use stupid amounts of oil and chips were salted to chip salting perfection.
Will be returning. Bravo.
Extremely friendly staff both times I went there this summer.
Excellent Flake, just crispy enough and the chips were great. They also do fantastic veggie dim sims.
Will be looking forward to them next time we are down there.
They now also accept card payments unlike a few years ago.
Imo, the chips were grilled with the fishes so they taste more grilly and oily.not the best.the potato cake however were good.
Decent food, definately the primary fish and chip shop in Sorrento. Although this isn't always a positive, as wait time can sometimes be excessive, especially during peak times and holiday periods.
Plenty of vegetarian options and the cooks seem happy to alter items slightly to suit dietary requirements.
Small space inside the shop for waiting, often leads to people having to wait out side and hope to hear their number being called.
They used to be cash only, however it appears they now accept card payments.
Essentially no space for seating inside. However, there is limited seating immediately outside the building.
Overall, it's a classic fish and chip joint, food is as expected, but nothing really special.
Fish was fried very well - batter not too thick or thin, chef even gave a free piece of fish to go
I had the grilled fish platter. The salad was salty, the fries were all right (couldn’t figure out why they weren’t tasty), the fish was soggy.
Rude. Kept barring my call for a pick up order. Called up to 12 times. Wish I could make a food review.if I was able to put an order through
Fish & chips at Sorrento are never a miss, but this place is my favourite due to the friendly staff. Cheers always for the good food and the good vibes!
Fantastic burger and fantastic fish, well worth the pricing. Actual seafood was cooked to perfection, with a fantastic amount of batter and salt, tasted delicious. Chips and potato cakes are a bit too bland, with too much concentration of potato.
Food: 4.5/5
The service is quite slow, and for such an important business to the community, it is a wonder why more staff aren’t hired to speed up the service of their food.
It is also basically the only fish and chip shop in their town, and this suggests that capitalism and the way that monopolies run - they make all the money and gradually, service and competence becomes eroded.
Service: 3/5
Good good but service could improve.
One of the staples on the main St. As far as fish and chips places go, there's nothing spectacular about the menu. It's the people that make this place awesome. You can tell the owner cares. Staff are smiling. Food is fresh. Always busy. Reasonable prices. What more can you ask for? Can't go wrong here.
A family run business where the crowded kitchen works like clockwork. There's a string on a pulley system, so phone orders are pegged into the string and pulled towards the back of the (visible) kitchen. 5 or 6 people work together to produce the items they sell, to a very high quality. Over customer came to the counter, annoyed that she couldn't be heard over the phone when placing her order. The staff stepped up to speak with her in such a patient and calm tone. She asked, "Could you hear me, did you get the order right? ! " The young girl replied, telling her what the order was - right off the top of her head. She had got it right. My order was up and I got a lovely, thick piece of flake with a light, crisp batter. The thick chips had dense potato, not empty bags of air. It was delicious. But you can see by my photo of the menu board they do souvlakis, salads and all sorts of other food.
A wonderful, busy, patient, cohesive group of people who do a fabulous job.
Our takeaway meal was at least hot the chips were cut thick but I didn't like the yellowish tinge to them. The fish cake quite yummy and potato cakes not bad. Not sure if I would be a regular here. The service was very pleasant though.
