Evans – Quality Shoe, Handbag & Leather Repairs

I took a few items into Evans including 2 designer sneakers that had so much wear and tare I had stopped wearing them. When I received the sneakers back they looked like I just purchased them from the store! I was beyond amazed! I also had a pair of Chanel wedding shoes I had bought to wear at my wedding at the end of the month but the shoe strap was giving me excruciating pain & I couldn’t figure out why as the shoes fit perfectly and the strap wasn’t too tight! As soon as I took them into Evans they assessed the problem and told me that they need to loosen the strap to allow me to have that give as the strap was sitting too low on my foot - mind you they’re saying so it was a little risky as glue stains cannot be cleaned off the satin!
When I received my shoes and put my feet into them I couldn’t stop crying from happiness! I thought I was going to have to change my shoes as they were so uncomfortable & with the wedding so close it was very distressing, but Evans made it work & I’m forever grateful!

My shoes were re-coloured, as one had faded in the store window prior to purchase. The end result is beautiful. I was kept in the loop via text concerning how the job was progressing. All up, a very satisfactory outcome. I recommend Evans.

Pretty disappointing. $50 for two new belt holes and they're not consistently aligned. A fraction more care and it would've been 5 stars, despite the job taking more than a week to complete.

Brought in a much loved and rare Gucci bag I’ve had for a long time that was in need of rejuvenation after almost daily use for 5-6 years. The interior fabric lining was rather stained (a rogue strawberry) and the exterior piping and base of the bag were beginning to wear and fray. Minor scratches and marks to the leather generally. I’d taken the bag to Gucci who had quoted $890 to recondition the bag inside and out and replace the interior in full which was to take 3-4 months for the work to be done at their workshops in Italy (COVID still prolonging lead times). I’m sure Gucci would’ve done a good job but I looked locally to see what I could get done here. Royal Bag Spa quoted $740 and a 6 week turnaround. Then I went to Evans, recommended by a friend. The staff there are very pleasant and informative; they were able to offer a quote of $450 for the work and a turnaround of 7 days! They explained that the interior would be washed with a special solution, rather than replaced, and that should remove most of the staining. If not we could look to get it replaced for additional charge. I picked up my bag a week later and the bag looks like the day I bought it! No scratches, piping repaired beautifully, and new wax borders applied to the handles. The interior was looking a lot better, though some of the more stubborn stains remained, but I was prepared for that being the case and was glad to accept the bag as it was. They had also waterproofed the bag which has a 6 month guarantee. All in all, great service, remarkably quick work, and exceptionally friendly and personable staff in a very handsome shop full of tradition and excellence. Will definitely be going back for all my leather work. Thank you to the team at Evans!

Fantastic work by the craftspeople at Evans! I had a damaged R. M. Williams wallet that I wanted repaired as I love it to death, and they repaired it and gave it back to me better than new! Service was quick and professional. Would recommend to anyone who wants excellent repair work done on their leather goods.

Needed some walking boots repaired (new stitching, patches for splits in leather) but could not find a local repairer in our patch (regional Victoria).

I can’t recommend Evans enough! I had leather Vachetta trim replaced on my vintage LV bag & it looks like new. The communication was faultless & so simple. The process from postage interstate to receiving my bag took just over a week. Recommend Evans 100%

Very unprofessional. I work in a business with over 20 stores in Melbourne who uses Evans for shoe and leather repairs on behalf of our clients and the service and attitude received from the Evans team is appalling. There had been issues with missing customer items, accusations of outstanding invoices and every time the business encountered a problem Jenny had been far from helpful. She gives us attitude, brushes us off and is plain rude. Just terrible customer service.

Lost hope with some Versace hi tops I’ve had for a while and Evans completely rejuvenated them for a great price and extremely efficient service!

I cannot recommend Evans highly enough. They replaced a defective zip on a boot, matching the other perfectly and using the original zip pull. Evans is more expensive than other shoe repair places in town, but for good reason. If they can't do it, it can't be done.

Wow: what a fabulous experience! Congratulations to Jenny and the team at Evans. The sad story was I'd fallen out of love with a beautiful, rugged leather jacket I bought a few years back while on a ski trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Loved the jacket, but back home the cotton lining - well, it just felt, meh. And so the jacket languished. Fast forward to now, and Evans replaced the lining with a slinky dark chocolate brown satin, and with a real attention to detail around the seams and pockets and so forth. Love rekindled! Thank you, Evans!

We had my leather coat altered and were extremely happy with the result. The owner was very professional a family run business which we cannot recommend highly enough. Good in depth knowledge of their craft.

I was on the point of throwing out a very good bag because the strap was broken and nobody local would or could repair it.
I contacted Evans and was delighted when they said it could be repaired. I posted my bag and received excellent service. Not only was the repair excellent but the communication and assistance was speedy and very good.
