DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Melbourne - Flinders Street reviews
80 Great Service from well trained attentive staff. The location of the hotel on Flinders St is near the very heart of Melbourne city and allows easy access to trams, trains and the Casino. The sidewalk is busy, bordering on chaotic and it was always a pleasure to step back in to the comparative tranquility of the lobby and return to your room. The rooms are very well appointed but compact, probably reflecting the high central city property values. The choc chip cookies doled out by reception are always a welcomed treat with a warm mug of hot chocolate to end a hectic day.
It is strategically located just around the corner from the foodie haunt on Degraves Street or in the opposite direction on Elizabeth St, you can fill up from one of the many fast food favourites.
A definite "must return" for me the next time I'm in the city.
Room was nice and clean and the place seems well maintained. Got a free cookie when i checked in which was a good bonus as i was hungry. The reception staff were helpful. The room i was in had a good and clean iron and board. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided with a kettle. You can request different types of pillows if the ones provided aren't comfortable enough for you. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to spend a couple of nights.
Except for the location the hotel doesn’t deserve the Doubletree brand.
Let’s start from the beginning:
1) there were homeless/drunk people sitting on the ground in front of the hotel entrance;
2) my room was facing a wall, so no day light for 4 days. It was not mentioned in the reservation, plus for a HH member they should give a better room;
3) during breakfast I had to queue for 10 mins before be sit;
4) even if I put the “do not disturb” out of my room, the cleaning lady tried to enter my room.
Not recommended.
The room was modern and clean albeit a little small. Travelled for my partners birthday and they left some wine and chocolates waiting in the room for us which was nice.
The location is very convenient but being next to a major train station the street was a little bit seedy at times
Housekeeping could be improved a little with only one bath towel left for us on one of the nights we stayed but otherwise the room was beautifully clean when we got back in the evening. The staff were always happy to help and all were very friendly. The wifi costs a massive $20 per 24hrs so keep that in mind if you plan on doing work in the room.
Seems to be a compact hotel with decent services. I was only there briefly so can't provide a detailed review. Highly accessible from Flinders Street train station. There's an exit which basically leads up on to the street right in front of the hotel.
Excellent location across from Flinders station and close to Federation Square and the great assortment of restaurants and shopping that Melbourne is known for. The breakfast buffet is large and offers a variety of items. Service was excellent at breakfast and at the bar for an evening drink
The rooms are clean, but small. Oddly, the shower has only a half door between it and the rest of the bathroom, so water leaks out onto the floor.
Excellent rooms! We stayed in an internal room, it's good since I don't like the sunlight to wake me up. Nice and quiet, amazingly comfortable. Staff are kind and let us check in a little early so we could drop our bags and get ready for a concert. If you are looking for a really nice room that isn't too expensive in the heart of Melbourne CBD then look no further then here!
Excellent service. Some rooms had windows looking out into the adjacent building so take note. The breakfast was disappointing and felt it could do better.
We booked it during the busy australian open week and only found out that our room is overlooking an ongoing construction site manager left a note but doesn't bother to inform the customer first before they checked in If we were informed up front, we might have booked another hotel deeply disappointed with hilton brand of hotel
Excellent location, very good service, room/bathroom very nice but small, restaurant breakfast outstanding.and most critical: their service from front desk, room, restaurant and concierge were superb (especially Joshua!).
The only real negative was their pricing and payment process. I have never been to any hotel where I had to pay a deposit. There was an article in the Wall Street Journal within the last four weeks addressing the aggressive methods now being used by some of the hotels.especially with add-ons. My price paid was higher than the price initially charged. I suspect most of all this had to do that I was there at peak their season during the Australian Open.
However, I felt my exit cost was worth the value for service and product that I received. My cumbersome point is reach clarity with these folks regarding their pricing for you.especially what your exit cost will be.
You can not get any better location for a hotel than these folks.fabulous! I have attached a few photos showing various scenes (including Rod Laver Arena) all with 2-5 minutes of the hotel. EVERYTHING we needed was within a 5 minute walk.
Excellent service and staff who are always willing to help. Dealt with the manage named Garry and a couple other staff and they went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed to make us comfortable. Rooms are a little small and there is no executive lounge as Hilton's usually have but besides that I can honestly say no other complaints.
Super friendly staff, breakfast buffet is great too. Room views are not too great with construction beginning to take place. Location is not very ideal either. Dirty streets and unknown stores located downstairs. Literally opposite the train station and close to graffiti lane. Bit of a walk to city centre (10-15mins)
Nice rooms and location, but car park is quite far away. Air con would not cool down even after raising it with reception. No upgrade as a diamond member but it was Australian open weekend.
This place is really beautiful but unfortunately right in the middle of a derelict area of Flinders Street. The best thing about this hotel is the bar downstairs. You need a key card to go up the lift.
This was my second stay here and once again I was pleased with our stay. The location is unbeatable across the road from Flinders Street Station. There are so many restaurants within a minutes walk. There is a supermarket next door, and of course all you want in Melbourne is easily accessible by trams across the road. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Despite possibly the worst view I have had in a hotel (a building next door which was in poor condition and within arms reach), so we kept the curtains closed. This however meant the room was quiet and dark which was great for sleeping. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There is not a lot of storage space, but the room was efficient if you are not going to be spending a lot of time there. The gym is small but adequate. We didn't eat there, but did love our warm cookie and chocolates on arrival.
This place is centrally located in Melbourne, which makes this location perfect. They also hooked me up with the free cookie and a bunch of vouchers for free drinks. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I also recommend getting a room facing Flinders Street. It's a great view.
The walls are super thin. Holding conversations with friends will result in people banging the wall next door. The guys in the counter are not friendly and rather rude at times when they raise their voices talking to people from asia like us. The duty manager cant recognize his guest even when he checked in them in the morning, resulting in strange questions like what are you doing in our lobby. And to think we paid for hilton for good service. Be warned.
Staff were nice and friendly - most importantly, the beds were so comfortable! Could not fault the service. Oh.did I mention there was complimentary warm cookies upon entry.
In the room we had, the bathroom layout was a little annoying as there is no pan for the shower and only a partial screen, meaning no matter how hard you try, the water goes everywhere (how much do we all love long hot showers in hotels!)
Best about the hotel is the location right in the centre of Melbourne opposite Flinders station. Friendly staff. Rooms are on the smaller side and there are quite a number of rooms which are windowless due to the buildings on both left and right to it. Medicore elite recognition especially with respect to room upgrades. Breakfast quality seems to have deteriorated from my last visit. Other than that it is what to expect from a DoubleTree.
It's just ok, you have a bed and sleep. Just ignore the hole in the wooden floor, broken light, the welcome message with a name that is not yours on the TV, the Australian power point only (make sure you have adapters for your country), the empty minibar. If those things don't matter to you then you can go there.
