A Mixed Experience at Derbi Thai Restaurant

I recently visited Derbi Thai Restaurant, and my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. The decor left much to be desired, and unfortunately, the cleanliness of the restaurant fell short of expectations. However, I must acknowledge that the interior design was quite appealing.

When it came to the food, it was merely okay. I found myself leaning towards the idea of opting for takeout rather than dining in. The menu offered a standard variety, but the execution left something to be desired.

Despite my ambivalence towards Derbi Thai Restaurant, it's worth noting that the area boasts several other Thai dining options with cozier atmospheres. Considering this, I might explore other restaurants in the vicinity for a more satisfying experience.

In summary, while Derbi Thai Restaurant has its merits, there's room for improvement, particularly in terms of decor, cleanliness, and overall dining experience.

Our go-to Thai place! We’ve followed this place from the little takeaway joint they once had on Grey St to the cozy restaurant they now have on Fitzroy St. Best service and the freshest and most delicious food! It is all so affordable.we come so often! They also will put our takeaway food orders in our own containers for us, so we can reduce our plastic waste. HEAVEN! We will forever be loyal to Derby Thai! The roti and peanut sauce is to die for.

My dad really liked the pad Thai at this place. Foods are really good and staff are friendly. Will bring my friends here next time.

My wife and I recently had dinner at Derby Thai in St Kilda, and we were pleasantly surprised by the cheap and affordable yet tasty food. We started with a 330 ml single beer and four chicken wings combo which was just $10. The chicken wings were crispy and flavourful and paired perfectly with the beer.

For starters, we tried the soft shell crab salad, which was fresh and zesty, and the marinated Thai-style pork spare ribs, which were a bit fatty but still delicious. The highlight of our meal was the Singapore noodles, which had a good curry flavour and were well-balanced in terms of spice and sweetness.

While the food was excellent, the service could have been better. However, given the budget-friendly prices of the restaurant, we found the service to be satisfactory.

Overall, we had a great dining experience at Derby Thai. The restaurant offers delicious and affordable food, making it a perfect choice for those on a budget. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good Thai meal in St Kilda.

Worst customer service. Very rude. They cancelled my order twice on Uber eats cause I ordered pad Thai prawn and special note to add chicken as Pad Thai chicken is $17. Prawn is $6.50 extra. But they cancelled as they wanted to charge me extra for chicken so they wanted over $23.50 for combination when the chicken comes in the regular $17 price for Pad Thai. I called and explained. She told me to order again. I did. Then they cancelled. Wanted more money. So greedy and rude. Will never order from there again. Was ordering over $50 worth of food and couldn’t add a bit of chicken. So dumb.

Hands down the best staff and the best food for the best price.

Got a lobster fried rice today.

Great place to have Thai cuisine. I have tried their vegan options and can vouch for them. The service staff is friendly. My personal recommendation will be pineapple fried rice.

Have always been a huge supporter of this place since they opened and have followed them when they've opened new stores or moved. Food is insanely good and priced extremely well! The service more likely than not if sitting in to eat will be very average a bit of a pitty.
Takeaway is best.

We often go here when over from WA as it's near where our kids live. Good food, quick service can always get a seat.

Amazing food, great service! Food came out really fast, we didn't wait long at all. The best satay skewers I've had (I've had lots lol) would highly recommend!

The short Thai lady at the front counter is very rude and nasty behaviour and pushy.
The other staff just dump the food on your table and walk off without a smile or even a thank you

We ordered take away delivered and only half of the food arrived. We called the restaurant and we were told that they will sort us out next time we will order. No apology don’t care attitude. At list of you would have had the curtesy to be nice and try to rectify the problem on the spot by supplying us with the food we paid for we would understand and wait and move on. They were rude and uncaring zero costumer service attitude. You have lost a costumer and a good one that used your business a lot. You don’t care I don’t care. Rubbish!

Great food, decent prices, cheap drinks and quick service. Nice place to eat, especially when it’s hot and they open up all the windows.

Disappointed with tonight’s meal.
I remember going to Derby Thai about 3 years ago for Pad See Ewe and have had a fond memory ever since.
So decided to order it tonight through Deliveroo while in the area.

The beef wasn’t the thin sliced charred beef I would expect in a pad see ewe, it was stir fry beef and it was dry and tough and Noodles didn’t have much flavour.
So disappointed: (

One of the better Thai Restaurants in the St Kilda area. Mostly busy and the staff can be under the pump most nights. Had a great dinner here and the tall waitress at the front was very kind and helpful to us, even though she was busy running back and forth between orders. Overall great place and great staff, management should look into having more staff of hand for busier nights.
