DC Dumpling reviews
82 A Melbourne institution, David and Camys is a classic example of cheap and delicious Chinese food. Serving a full gamut of dumplings, you will be impressed with how delicious these are. This is not a fancy place, it's your classic cheap Chinese restaurant.
Word of warning, ordering items other than the dumplings may disappoint. While they do a full range of classic Chinese dishes, they do not compare in quality.
New management is destroying a once great family restaurant.overpriced, and the dumplings were terrible, we had 3 other dishes that were below average. $77 later.
Ordered vegetarian noodles via Uber eats. Dish arrived full of beef. Restaurant refused to replace the dish and insisted I call Uber phone number which has no option to resolve anything or speak to a person. Not a vegetarian friendly establishment and awful customer service skills. Out of pocket $13 for fool I can’t eat thanks guys.
Food was pretty good. Service is pretty much what you would expect from Chinese run restaurants; fast and efficient. Obviously English is not their strength but it is more than enough to get what you want. Definitely would come back again if I ever feel like I want some proper Chinese food. If you want more Guangdong/HK style food then there are other places near the area. This place serves good non-Guangdong style dishes so it tends to have more chilli involved.
I had steamed Chicken and prawn dumplings which were average with no juice inside making them dry. I ordered in store and got sat at an empty table in the corner of the dining room where I sat for over 40 minutes watching diners and uber eats meals get sent out. Much better places for same price in the area. I'd advise go elsewhere if you know your dumplings. There's a reason it's main clientele are Aussie and not the locals.
Still the same menu's and style off foods over 10 years seen l been going there happy to to go back there when lhave a craving for dumplings.
Nice service, but the food was clearly aimed at very white palates - it was flavourless and overcooked. Even the chilli oil tasted like it had no chilli in it. Surprising given the many positive reviews.
The dumpling are good but we asked for dan dan mian on 2 different occasions and got a completely different dish.
Service is good. Food is oily and crazy salty. Make sure you ask them to put less salt. Otherwise you won't be able to eat any.
Mapo Tofu and fried rice was yum wish I took a pic. Waitresses are vigilent and regularly fill up tea:)
Helpful staff and food is so delicious price wise it's quite reasonable but make sure to ask for free green tea after you eat because it will help you to digest your food quickly and you will feel so relax and you can enjoy a walk around the Box Hill Central.
Updated: Went back recently and unfortunately something has changed, the dumplings aren't as epic anymore which is really disappointing. Food is still ok, but not something to be excited about anymore: (
Review 2 Years Ago:
I LOVE this place. Whenever I'm celebrating something or just want awesome dumplings I go here. It's the best place for dumplings in Melbourne. I've tried a lot of different places for dumplings and DC consistently beats the competition. Can't wait to go back again: D
Other than dumpling, so far the food is not good. Ordered two noodle dishes, one was too salty and the others was no taste.
This place was usually good. Until tonight. Just ate 6 uncooked dumplings before I realised. Past for me.
It's impossible to post a photo let alone give constructive feedback when the food was inedible. Raw chicken pieces and poor service which is staggering given it is in a hub of Asian Cuisine and usually you are served extraordinary food no matter which restaurant you enter. It is cheap, but it is not a restaurant I would ever return to, sadly. Box Hill is usually an extraordinary foodies destination. This is a stop that's crossed off my list.
Always friendly, good food, good prices and service has been outstanding all of the times I have come here.
Best dumplings. Very busy for dinners - especially on Fridays and weekends, you may have to queue for a table for a while. We tend to go for lunch. Never disappointed.
A great variety of Chinese food available. Friendly staff, open late on weekends and worth dropping by,
The dumplings were superb and very reasonable prices. The service was attentive and friendly except the was an old lady who seemed not happy to be there. Overall, it was a good experience.
A go to in Box Hill for dumplings. Noting fancy but sure as hell good tasting dumplings. Cheaper than the opposing Dumpling Specialist
