Order takeaway. Told to pickup in 30 mins. Arrived on time. Food was cold. Burger was not cooked properly. Patty was soggy and not cooked properly. Expensive and disappointing. Rubbish! Spend your hard earned cash somewhere else.

Had a fisherman's basket
Chips were yellow but tasted ok
Calamari was dry and scallops weren't much to talk about.
The prawns on the other hand were so juicy and tasty.
Most of the food is pre battered which is disappointing. But it's an ok lunch.

The best golden chips we've had in a long time! Flake was really good too.
When in Rye we'll definitely be having take away from David Prossers again and recommending it to others.

Best seafood in town. Been there for the hot spring, stopped at David Prosser for some oyster and fish& chip. Very fresh! Friendly staffs as well.

Went back almost after 3 years.
Used to be good place for fish and chips, not anymore. Unsure if there was change of management.

Oysters were nearly off or off.
Pasty.
Hamburgers had big meat but were tasteless.
Waste of money and disappointed.
Heard fish reputation was good.

Came here after a day on the beach. Can't say the service was particularly inviting, I almost felt like I was bothering them. Regardless, I was there for the food and not the service.
The fish itself was nicely battered and not over or under cooked. No lemon provide or offered. Chips were crunchy and it would have been nice if chicken salt was also an option. Also thought they could have given more chips, but I probably wouldn't have finished them given how salty they were

Do not go here! If I could have given 0 stars believe me I would! Placed an order at 6pm and told it would be a 30minute wait only to receive it at 7: 20pm. After asking multiple times how long our wait will be and being ignored several times, the rude and patronising teenaged girl snubbed us off rudely saying “soon” when I asked how long soon is she rolled her eyes saying “I don’t know 5-10minutes” to which our wait was a further 40 minutes. Other staff members were also little to no help.

Not to mention, absolutely shocked to find a child approx 10 years old, working behind the counter under such pressure and stress. How is that legal?

When we finally received our order (our cold order, $70 for COLD FOOD nothing offered as compensation or for wait time). I checked it in store to ensure all items were there. We were missing multiple things as we assumed we would be due to the disorganisation and watching customers return one by one with missing food.when I asked why we didn’t have all of our order they told us they ran out. They hadn’t told us this prior to giving us the food so we could have easily left and gone home without knowing. The audacity to knowingly give us our order knowing food was missing without offering a replacement is appalling especially knowing how long we had waited with no regard or apology for their lack of service.

The customers waiting for food were telling arriving customers not to order and to go else where, as was I. This was to no surprise still happening when we were leaving rye at 8pm! There was also people waiting for food at 7: 20 since ordering at 5: 45 who simply left because their kids were hungry and they had enough! DO NOT GO HERE!

Had fish & chips tonight and very ordinary. Chips were bright yellow and soft, potato cakes and dim sims barely cooked. Fish was ok. Never again.

Delicious fish and potato cakes dinner at the beach. Can’t ask for anything more. Friendly service. Highly recommended

This WAS the best fish and chips money could buy - then it changed hands. Why change anything? Why? Fish no longer crispy and fresh…. No systems in place saw the main lady arguing loudly with four unhappy customers in a row who all had incorrect orders! Own your stuff ups and move on! Put systems in place and order better product, to cook better again! Just a basic shop now

Since changing ownership we had the worst experience… Fish was under cooked - Chips weren’t the best Disappointing….

Whilst the food was good, it arrived 40 minutes after the pre arranged time because they claimed to not be able to find the order. Order was submitted at 3.55pm for collection at 5.05pm, at 5.25pm when we finally got a rude staff member to check we were told the order was 30-40 minutes away, didn’t actually look for the order just fobbed us off. Only when we stood in the order line did we actually get attended to and ignored again, finally served when they couldn’t actually serve anyone else and told to wait a further 10 minutes, ended up being another 15 minutes.
Avoid during summer as they clearly cannot cope with people ordering.

The service was terrible. The order was placed an hour before collection and it was still not ready on arrival…. In fact I had to wait a further 40 minutes. No explanation was given regarding the delay

Nice fresh fish, but over battered and fried calamari it was disgusting and so over cooked. They sell Woolies water bottles that they buy for. 24 cents each and resell for $3.00!

This used to be a great fish and chip shop. Now it has different owners. Today I had flake, potatoe cakes and scallops. The fish was edible but not as good as the previous owners. One of the potatoe cakes was overcooked and I threw it out. The scallop I had to spit out, it was disgusting. Seriously guys do you really think to you can get away with that. If you value your stomach, enter at your own risk. These people have low standards.

Still amazing fish and chips, even though it's under new management.
They are keeping up with the way is was before.

This shop used to be decent, no longer. I presume it’s under new management… hate leaving negative reviews for local and small business but expensive and really bloody average.
