David Jones Cheltenham reviews
71 Walking into David Jones years ago was a pure treat. Exceptional customer service and beautiful items to view. I walked into the store last week and couldn’t find a rep to process my purchase, I went upstairs and a lady came from nowhere offering to sign me up for a Amex a David Jones Amex card. I didn’t know David Jones was a credit card agent.
Seriously I told the lady I only need a sales rep to process my socks and not a credit card, to this she replied “ you could get instant approval and the socks could be your first credit purchase “ needles to say I left the store minus the socks and no credit card.
Why can’t well enough be left alone? What happened to “There’s no other store like David Jones”? And don’t even bother trying to make any purchase from the Chanel counter as they have the most unfriendly lady working there.
Do not use the David Jones Gift Registry.
It is not fit for purpose. All of our wedding gifts arrived unwrapped, no cards (so no idea who sent the gift). Just a product slapped in a box with the price still on. Despite clearing marking that we wanted all products gift wrapped.
There are so many great gift registries available this isn’t one of them. Don’t make the same mistake we have and ruin what is meant to be special experience.
Worse than the experience itself is the non existent follow up and communication for the David Jones management team. Despite raising the concerns, our gifts continued to arrive as pictured.
Don’t waste your time or ruin your big day - go elsewhere.
Talk about a cornucopia of selections. They must have rejigged their buying practices because they had more than I could choose from. The department store must have some life left in it yet. The staff knew they were needed too. Planned for one purchase but took four. Well done DJs. Went well.
ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED!
Went into the store to buy some cloths, sales woman kept on telling me that she will give me more discount on the day… when I was ready to purchase she tolled me that in order for me to receive further discount I need to sign up for "David Jones Loyalty" card so I agreed, she took her iPad out and tolled me what sections to fill-in.on the very last question there was a “limit” section she scrolled down to $2000 …. That looked very odd to me as I never heard about loyalty cards having limits, I started questioning sales woman about the "limits" and she pressed submit button and submitted my application - few minutes into me questioning her about the “limits” she informed me that she submitted my application for an America Express credit card NOT David Jones Loyalty Card. I was in shock I asked her to immediately cancel my application, she tolled me to leave the store as this could take a while and she will take care of everything and will get back to me once everything is done. Few hours later I called the store “general manager from mans department” assured me that nothing gone though and informed me that he will have a good chat with that staff member as customers in the past complained about her doing the same thing.
When I called American Express just to make sure my application didn’t go though they informed me that it did go though and it's been rejected and it effected my credit rating.
Tried to resolve this matter with store manager - horrible woman how twisted my words in her favour and the favour of David Jones store - she called me back and tolled me that she been informed that I applied for a credit card and changed my mind at a very last minute!
She tolled me that my rejected credit card application will NEVER effect my credit rating and instead of investigating situation and finding out exactly what happen she kept on putting me down and kept on protecting her staff.
I am in shock! Not only they allowing sales people to lie and trick customers they twist words and makeup stories in their favour to look good and make a customer look like a fool.
Then after all that she had a nerve to offer me a minuscule discount next time I shop at David Jones…
I will NEVER EVER EVER shop there again I never met so many two faced people in one store trying to protect a very little reputation they have left.
Review for David Jones Southland and not Chadstone. Today's experience was very unsatisfactory. The staff next to the perfume counters pretended to be helpful. They made me feel out of place rather than welcomed. Since I had a gift voucher I was there otherwise I would not have bought anything and instead would have given my business to Myers were staff are polite and non judgemental. I think David Jones decision to close down outer suburbs stores is a good strategic decision.
It’s not a store I usually patronise but took a browse with the wife. The retail assistant we encountered was one of the best I've ever seen. Totally changed my ideas about the place. We picked up some really sweet bargains too just last week!
The fragrances, the Glass house candles and clothing is all exceptional at David Jones, as it's unparalled with its quality products on offer, and perception of beauty in its nature.
I have been to two different David Jones stores twice in three days. On both occasions, I have had significant difficulty in locating a staff member to pay for my items. Is DJs cutting staff? If so, this is very concerning for the business and the customer. I only persisted in finding a staff member because I am a loyal customer.
Great service in menswear, looking for a scarf out of season and the lady brought stock from the back. Thank you much appreciated.
I have had some good customer service here, but one terrible staff member has just put me off the store. I am not sure if she even still works here, but every time I used to browse the Chanel makeup (1 or 2 years ago now) the same lady with a short, black hair bob would ask In a very jarring, with no smile manner “can I help you? ” which is just so off putting. But once I said, “yes you can help me find an eye shadow palate” she promptly says, “the one you’re holding is good” and when I asked if she was able to give me a demonstration she replies “you are welcome to try it yourself, there is a mirror there” when there were no other customers around. I haven’t been back since.
Not a store I usually patronise but went in with a friend. The retail assistant we encountered was one of the best I've ever seen. Totally changed my ideas about the place.
I've liked David Jones in the past as there were enough staff to be helpful. My visit to the Southland store today left me frustrated trying to find staff. There were a few around but it seemed like a skeleton crew and they were hard to find. When found, they were courteous and helpful but they should be much easier to find.
I got that 'lonely feeling' when there was only one other potential client and one salesperson on the entire floor. I presume the salesperson was too busy too talk to me. When will DJ start training staff to be welcoming to clients.
The death of Department stores is just about complete. And it is no ones else's fault but the department stores.
Apart from the perfume counters there is no staff to be found.
Love this place
So clean
Sales staff are so nice pleasure to deal with
Great selection of product
I don't like vast shopping malls anonymous. Prefer the stand alone David Jones in Collins Street.
Went here to genuinely shop and was followed around by loss preventions for 30 minutes up and down 3 floors. Way to make me feel comfortable.
David Jones is an Aussie department store icon full of quality top shelf items. Always enjoy the set up and is the measure of retail shopping. Oh and toilets are best in Southland.
Staff are nice and prices fair for the quality, but counter staff are far and few between. You would think at Christmas there would be additional staff around, but instead I waited 20 minutes with other shoppers at the counter for someone to finally show up, two days in a row.
Finding a staff member to help you is hard, finding someone who knows what theyre talking about is I would suggest impossible.
On all their sale signs they had mens brands listed, including lyle and scott, I thought wow nice one, started looking couldnt find it. Started asking and staff didnt even know what it was.
Found out in the end that they didnt even have it in that store it was just there purely to waste my time.
