Country Cob Bakery reviews
76Great pies. We sampled 4 kinds: pepper beef, beef thai curry, curried scallop and creamy seafood. Very punchy flavours! The pepper is very pronounced (love!), the thai beef is unreal (didnt think id like it but it was incredible) and the seafood ones were very generous with the seafood inside the pies. Definitely worth a stop! We even took 4 pies to go.
I had the beef and mushroom pie, and hubby had chicken ham and leek. Both were lovely. Mini sausage rolls were also good. Lots of unusual varieties if that's what you're looking for. We took heaps home for the family to try. Impressive place to visit.
Quality of pies is disappointing. Seems like less ingredients used to make the pies taste great. Dining area always is closed off around lunch hour for cleaning. Nowhere to sit down. Disappointed!
Amazing vanilla slice. Good plain meat pie. Satay seafood pie had overpowering satay flavour and nothing else sadly, as the seafood inside was nicely cooked. Below average coffees.
There's a reason this place has the number of positive reviews it does. The coffee was some of the best I've had at a country cafe, the food was delicious (they do NOT skimp on bacon in the BLT), and of course the vanilla slice was exquisite.
If you're after a country bakery fix, put the Country Cobb Bakery on your list now!
I love the creamy seafood pie, laden with seafood, moist. Pork and pepper was out of this world. Curry scallops were outstanding. Will be back again and again and again.
A great place to come for all your bakery needs. I had a delcious meat pie and sausage roll. The Mrs had a Thai Seafood pie and rated it 11 out of 10. And sauce is available from a dispenser instead of sachets. The award winning vanilla slice was certainly worthy of the award.
You can also get hot food such as schnitzels, plus design your own sandwiches. Also, there is plenty for sweet toothes!
Great little bakery. Which has won many awards for their pies. Lucky for us vegetarian pies and even vegan where on the menu
That isn't always the cache.
The vegetarian pies where absolutely wonderful
Really good bakery pies excellent award winning pies in fact delicious.cakes yummy good service can eat in or takeaway if your out kyneton way a must visit.
The Best Pies! Today i just felt like a Pie, and these guys really do it well. Very friendly service and staff, and they make a great coffee too. Coffee is something I am fussy about, and they got it right. Nice eat-in cafe area, nice and clean. Old world in its setting and charm, but scintilatingly clean.
Minimal pastry let's the filling do the talking. The unassuming classic square shape makes you think of a cheap'n'nasty pie, however the first bite will prove that there's cafe, effort and thought gone into the making. Only minor complaint is, as others have said, could have been served a little hotter.
Wow is what can say.
We were there yesterday. We had the satay seafood and the pepper pies. Best pies ever. Also had a vanilla slice and honey almond slice. So good we even bought some to take home. Worth the drive, thanks.
Great service at the Country Cob Bakery this morning. We were first timers so greedily ordered their prize winning Curry scallop pie, pork and pepper pie and creamy seafood pie. They were all worthy of the prizes. If you're in the vicinity, stop in for one of these - yum!
Truely amazing experience. We drove all the way from Ballarat to Kyneton just to taste these amazing pies. Had pepper beef, mushroom beef pies, lamb+pork pie and chicken satay pies. Exceptionally tasty. But our favourite was pepper and mushroom beef. Thin crust and tasty meat inside. All we could say WOW. Deserve to be the top pies
Rightly so the winners of excellent pies! I had the best butter chicken pie I've ever tasted here, and took eight different pies home with me! Lovely staff too, thanks so much!
They have won heaps of awards but I wonder if now they've increased quantity so much that their quality has gone down a bit. Pies are fine but I prefer Kyneton Bakehouse personally. It's the take a number wait for your turn system which is good because it's always packed. Allow 5 mins or so to wait to be served as theres always tonnes of people in there. It's cheap but not over the top wow delicious. Staff are really nice though. They have a $10 EFTPOS minimum, a bit archaic but the lady kindly put it through for me anyway as I didn't have cash on me. Also I really hate the rebranding they've done since they took it over from the old owners. The original signage was in keeping with the name, second lot was awful and looked like it was done in MS Paint, the third one is much better but still not as good as the original one.
