Country Cob Bakery

We drove two hours to try their famous pies and it was worth the trip. The pepper pie is a league above the rest. The spice mix is more complex than a regular pepper pie, with the addition of chillie peppers. The slightly fruity taste of the chillies elevate the pie to award winning status (of which it has won several). And of course, I had to try their curry scallop pie (featured on Masterchef). It was delicious! The scallops were fresh and buttery, not the rubbery kind you find in imitation pies. The curry was surprisingly sweet and delicious. The only pie I did not enjoy was a chillie crab pie that was a special at the time. The crab tasted like it had come from a can and the meat did not have much texture. Apart from that, I strongly recommend their pies. I used to write a blog about pies so I've tried a few. Country Cob is in my top three list for pies. Go try them.

Tried the pork pepper pie, scallop curry pie and the chilli con carne pie on our way to Melbourne. The pies were good, but didn't think it was exceptional for the price. The pepper pork pie was quite sweet and curry scallop was pretty average. The vanilla slice was def a winner though.

Excellent food. It is always so fresh. I had a schnitzel roll. My son had party pies and a milkshake. Cost was lower than I expected. Definitely recommend.
Parking can be tricky, but there are heaps of side streets where you can park with a short walk.

Great pies. Good varieties. I travel for those pies almost every weekend. Today, somehow, I felt the lady who served me is looking at/treating me like I can't speak any English. She asked who is the next when clearly no one else was in the queue, except me. And after I placed my order, while I am looking for some change, she pointed at a 10 cent piece in my hand and said "that's 10 cent". I really not sure it's a racist behaviour or something else. But it really made me feel not quite right.

Great little bakery.
The pies were certainly better than you average bakery fare and the vanilla slice was really very good.
If you are wandering through Kyneton and need a place to grab lunch, I would certainly recommend it.

Great selection of top notch country pies. Not just a must stop when you are in Kyneton, but definitely worth a drive out to Kyneton for the pies.

Don't forget to stock up on cold pies to take home and ready for the freezer.

Curry Scallop pie was just divine

Excellent pies, pasties, passion fruit jelly slices and of course, the vanilla slices. Lovely service from the girls who served me. Will definitely be back for more!

Excellent service and the food was terrific. My wife had a lobster and mushroom pie that was worth paying for. I had a curry pie and that was one of the best pies I have tasted.

Average pies at a bit of a premium, was a busy day so it may be a little unfair but the staff seemed unenthusiastic and was slow in moving through the line.

Great service and food. And the coffees were just finally a cappuccino that has some legitimate froth!

Average, not terrible but not the best in my oppinion.

Great bakery. Always innovating to create interesting new flavours. Top selection of vegan and vegetarian pastries too. An part of the Kyneton community!

Worst coffee in town! Only stopped in because the coffee shop over the road was flat out! (obviously for a good reason) and this place was dead quiet, waited at least 5 min before anyone would acknowledge that I was there. Ended up pouring the $5.50 worth of coffee out and went over the road

I witnessed this morning an employee/owner of this bakery go into Woolworths and not sign in manually or use the QR system. Disgraceful.

Really great facilities here, and even better food. While my initial reaction was that's it's not the cheapest, it's definitely worth the price.
A big menu of pies, pastries and sweet options and the quality and taste is top notch.
Get in early, because this joint has a constant line out the door for a reason. Great food, friendly staff and quick & helpful service.

I stumbled upon this place when I took a resting stop with my Harley owners group motorcycle riding buddies. Avoid the coffee but definitely try their pepper pork pie. I was surprised to see the huge spread of pies in a bakery in the middle of nowhere! Pleasantly surprised.

A great country bakery with a great meat pie and selection of all the treats you would expect. The vanilla slice looks amazing (though I didn't try it, the creme patisserie looked perfect). The line is long at lunch on the weekends but well worth the relatively short wait

Good bakery to stop by and grab a cofee and a pie, sausage rolls are ok, not great, but there is good choices in the regular bakery fare. Coffee is good and overall it is a good place to stop. You can also stop and eat in right now if you want.

Great pastries, cakes, slices and savoury food! Had a really delicious burger there recently. It's the best one I have had for a while!
