Small capacity intimate theatre with balcony section seating only around 1200 people, giving an excellent view of the stage from nearly all seats.this is a Melbourne institution and generally hosts superior productions for which Melbourne is famous throughout Australia.

One of the best theatres in town for watching live shows. Great views from most seats and the size gives a feeling of intimacy with performers on stage.

Excellent venue to host 'Come from Away'. I also saw the same production in London recently. Just as good. A1 cast, setting and music. Bravo.

Great venue. There’s often long lines out the front before a show starts, but they seem to get everyone in pretty quickly.

Great theatre. Great venue. Seen nothing but great shows. Only issue is parking. In the vicinity of the theatre. Recommended using public transport.
Don't think there are to many seats which have a restricted view

Great venue for stand-up comedy. We went to a Comedy Festival show, with Wil Anderson, and it was fantastic.

Once you get inside, it's a lovely little venue for the comedy festival. But having everyone waiting in the foyer before the show starts sucks. It's packed, it's tiny and you can't move. Getting out afterwards is even worse. Hopefully nobody ever has to be evacuated from there! Good luck getting to the bar too.

Great space. Was here for the Melbourne comedy festival. Last minute tickets to Tom Gleeson. Still got decent tickets for on the night in the dress circle.

Oh Tom Gleeson you make me laugh.
One star off for the rest of the audience. Come on people, heckle so he can put you in your place.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of places to buy drinks & snacks. All seats had great views of the stage. The atmosphere was excellent and the acts have been entertaining.

Older theater with lots of character, definitely worth a visit. Be warned though, the chairs are very old and you will feel it after half an hour of sitting on them. I guess that goes with the character of beautiful older buildings

Watched MADIBA at the Comedy Theatre-Oct 2018. A wonderful story about Nelson Mandela. Certainly thought provoking and sad in parts.but an uplifting production showing courage and bravery. The seats at this theatre are uncomfortable and the theatre gets very hot inside so dont wear too much clothing! You are allowed to take drinks into the theatre.

It's dated, but it's cool because it is dated. Loved it and the staff were top notch, nice and friendly.

Nice little venue. The only thing that stops it from having 5 stars is the over the top prices of drinks.

Fantastic film at the Comedy Theatre about the brilliant dress designer and artist McQueen. The seats however, are instruments of torture.

Saw a move from the MIFF here, was a decent experience. Sat in the middle on the ground floor and the sound was fine

Has this theatre rated number 1 for the worst seats ever yet!? Walked out of the theatre with backache every single time. Unfortunately MIFF movies were screened here and I did not have access to alternative sessions to attend otherwise I would have.

Very nice venue. And super friendly staff members. I had a nice chat with one of the friendly staff before the show starts.

Sat at the bottom back rows and It was easy to get in and out for toilet/drinks. But when the show is finished the main foyer can get over crowded, not ideal.
