The taste of Vada Pav is pretty good but having visiting the place several times over last few months, my friends and I have noticed that the size of the vada has reduced and is too small to properly fill out the pav, and we find that there;s always some pav left over,

We do appreciate that vadas are freshly fried and served.

This is by far the best place to get true taste of India.no other place anywhere in Melbourne can claim they serve authentic Indian food. I have tried many Indian restaurants in Melbourne but this is in a different league. Great quality and able to make the most iconic Indian dishes perfectly. Must try. I will now definitely say to my friends we got a proper Indian restaurant in Melbourne. Chai N Chilli.will be seeing you soon with more people.

It's a perfect place for indian food. We pithla bhakri and misal pav; it was way above our expectations. Very friendly staff. Relatively friendly on pocket; at least not on higher side

Food is good here. Specially Indian tea and Indian snacks. There is some improvement required for customer experience. The staffs here are bit rude. All junior staffs are really good but there is one lady who is very grumpy and behaves in a way that she is doing a favour for buying. Example
There is tea loyalty card, I bought one large tea and forgot to stamp the loyalty card as I didn’t have my purse at that time with me. I can back after 10 mins for buying snacks and requested her if she can stamp for the tea I bought 10 mins ago. She bluntly said we don’t stamp if u don’t take tea now. I mean I go there every day twice and why would I bluff for getting a $3 tea.
Second instance I was trying to tap the card and it wasn’t reading. She needed to try again. And she behaved in a way that swiping second time made her disgusted.
I earnestly request the senior staff that please Lee your ego aside. It’s all about customer experience. You don’t like customers, customers won’t like you either.

This restaurant near Marvel stadium is perfect for your snack break with tea and some Indian snacks like vada pav, bread pakoda and some other delicious Indian street food. Tea is also good. There is little inside of you want to dine in.

If you have lived in Maharashtra or you a Maharashtrian and craving for the regional delicacy then this is the place to visit.

Chai and Chilli is located right opposite to the Gate 6 of Marvel Stadium. Walk away distance from Southern cross station. Paid public parking is available around the stadium.

I tried Misal Pav for lunch and loved the taste. I’m a big fan of Gulab Jamun and ended up having two. Have tried most of the places in MEL and no where found the taste. Chai and Chilli is near to real taste.

Rates are reasonable for Thalis. Which is between $10-$12. Breakfast items such as Misal, Sandwich etc are bit over priced. Serving portions are good. Service is bit slow however if you are looking for good taste then patience is the answer.

Place is open during working days and closed during weekends.

It is good to see people around speaking in Marathi and excited to order motherland food. All the best.

Only recommendation is to Stay Raw and continue to serve some Assal Marathi food.

For $12 I got the 3 rotis and 2 curries. There wasn't not much on offer, about three curries available. You will get really small serves. Curries tasted ok. Not worth it for the price.
