Carlos Cantina - Croydon

Really disappointed with the customer service! We had to wait about 40 minutes just so we could order dinner. Once we had our dinner we waited so we could order dessert and when someone finally came over, they told us we had to get our dessert for take away because our time frame was up.
We got take away and I found a tooth pick on the dessert I ordered.
Would not recommend.

More gluten free options than most suburban Mexican places.

I am non-coeliac gluten intolerant and have some tolerance, so I do not know if they are coeliac safe (I don't need to check), but they do seem pretty aware, because they often ask *me* questions.

Food is great. Serves are huge.

If you're dining in there are specials on various weeknights.

This place is buzzing, good food at a good price. 4 stars because although the tacos were good they fell apart

This was our first time dining here. We found the staff very attentive and very efficient. The food was lovely. Would recommend.

Have been to Boronia once before, and tonight a friend and I went to the one in Croydon (she lives in Mooroolbark). I must say, we will never go back across the road at GyG! Food is better, atmosphere is better (the restaurant was BUZZING), staff is great, and MARGARITAS ARE THE BEST!

I always love getting a meal from Carlos, it is by far my favourite Mexican restaurant. I usually get delivery with my Dad when I go to visit & it’s just as good as dine in. Their margaritas are strong, just how I like them. If you order online I’d recommend doing the DIY taco option, means there’s no chance of receiving soggy tacos.

Sol is the absolute best! She’s so warm and welcoming - I just love coming here and seeing her so happy and bubbly! She’s such an asset to your company:)

Actual traditional Mexican. Prices were fair. Did get it take away so obviously better fresh dining in. Overall good

Best mexican food around.
They always take food allergies and anaphylaxis seriously and are great with the kids.
Margaritas are AWESOME!

You guys are always the best. Having lived close to Mexico for 20 years, trying to find a decent Mexican dish or any TexMex is hard, and most places in Australia don’t get it… but you pull it off well, and is the closest we’ve come to it!

And your staff are always amazing - friendly, courteous, on the ball, and always with a smile on their faces! Keep up the good work! We’ll see you again soon!

Always a fun night at Carlos, especially on Fridays with half price frozen margs! Staff are always super attentive and food top notch

Good, yet fell down at the end. Generally decent Mexican food for the area. The staff are always friendly and competent. I might have ranked them higher but for short-sighted management. We had a really odd experience while on a special occasion night out. After a good meal, one of the staff shows up at the table with an ice cream sundae that we didn't order and two spoons. We're confused, of course, but were told it was sent by the manager. We were already a bit full and planned dessert at home later but maybe they'd heard us talking about that it was our anniversary? How nice. The strange part came a couple of nibbles later when a different wait staff member comes over to explain it was delivered by mistake (fair enough). And that we'd have to give it back or pay for it. Um, ok. Her tone was fine but she'd been sent by the manager. It really came across as if we'd try to get away with something! Really changed the tone of our night quickly.it was strange and awkward. So they gather the spoons and the glass and whisk it away. We assume (certainly hope) they planned to throw it away and didn't give it to whatever table it was intended for. But how funny.to make a mistake, then come over and basically state they'd rather have it go in the rubbish than to let it go to the customer they'd caught up in their mistake.
Manager managed to undo all the hard work of the cooks and wait staff for no real reason at all except to not "let us get by with something". Not the end of the world, but the whole thing was just weird and uncomfortable. First time either of us has seen something like that.

Went here for some food and drinks with some mates last night. Great service, GREAT drinks and great food. Big shout out to Madi & Sol for making our night one to remember:)

An old regular at the Boronia store and now Croydon. Absolutely love the new venue, not only is it so much closer to our location but the space and area is so much better. The food (dare I say) is yummier here and the vibe is so good. I love the addition of the graffiti and foam on the roof to bounce off sound.

As always, the food and service at Carlos Croydon were outstanding. We can never fault them and they are our most favourite local restaurant. Always accommodating, nothing is ever too much trouble, always friendly and obviously the food is delicious, fast and the margaritas are also always on point! The proof is in how busy they always are. Maddy and the team are awesome. Highly recommended.
