Cafe Ray reviews
82Excellent coffee, food and vibe. Feel quintessentially Brunswick in the best way possible. Excellent menu of both vegan and non-vegan options. Family owned and operated to boot. Will happily keep coming back.
Wonderful coffee and really friendly staff! Got to sit down with my book and got served perfectly brewed coffee, will be back to check out the food!
Cafe ray was amazing. Good and fresh food but overall the staff was super friendly and caring. Thanks for such a lovely morning.
Coffee was average/lukewarm. I have been vegan for many years and was served full cream milk after specifically being told it was an almond latte.it wasn’t. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable due to what I assume were the owners bickering and yelling across the venue.would not recommend
The menu used to be amazing, it's currently reduced to one page and prices have gone up. Used to love it but probably won't be going back much again.
Wow. So nice to come into a cafe with such lovely welcoming people. Magnificent coffee and wonderful food. Great to be connected with Atomica Coffee again. Thanks guys.
Really great spot, excellent vegan food, even during the tough times there was something tasty on offer. We really love this place - an absolute gem for vegans in particular but the non-vego options looked amazing too.
Was hoping for a good first brunch in a while but sadly this place struggled to deliver. We waited 10 minutes to be seated despite there only being 1 customer in line ahead of us, waited 25 minutes for lukewarm coffees, and while the food came quick it was cold and poor value for money when you compare what’s on offer in the Melbourne brunch scene. We like to support local business, but this felt like a rip off and we won’t be back. Hopefully the owners (who look to be new?) can make some improvements and save this great little spot.
Always a good meal here. They have a limited menu at the moment due to COVID19 but it is still very tasty. The onion rings burger was my choice and Tracy had the vegan breakfast both were cooked perfectly and the service was second to none. Met the owner today, who spoke to us in a robust respectful conversation.
Perfect Brunswick cafe! Owners were so friendly, welcoming and personable and appear to genuinely care about their staff, customers and the quality of their food. Expansive, generous vegan menu! Perfect coffee, roasted on site by the family themselves.
And so welcoming to my doggo as well!
Thanks Cafe Ray!
Such a lovely local cafe with the friendliest staff and the best coffee! Take away had cheese croissant is also pretty tasty definitely recommend a visit!
We came here today after having a rough morning and we wanted to find a nice cafe to cheer us up. We found this place because of the reviews but had an awful experience. We were told to take a seat down the side and we sat there for 10 mins wondering what to do before I went and got menus myself. Not one person greeted us as they walked by our table out to the back garden. We then waited 15 mins and I went up to the counter to ask if that’s where I ordered food and was told “no” then said ok what do I do and was told that someone would come to me. I sat down and waited and waited and no one came. After 20 mins we pulled a girl aside and asked if she could take our order and she said yes. I ordered a veg sausage roll, salad and pickles. When the food arrived I got a salad and a tiny cup of veggies (carrot, cucumber and raffish) and was told “we don’t have any sausage rolls”. The man who spoke to us didn’t smile once or apologise for anything he just said they were having technical issues. Another man then came to our table with my exact order including the sausage roll and said “oh you already have your food? ”
I then told the first guy that I wanted the pickles that that guy had brought so he snatched the cup of veggies from my hand and said “I’ll take that then”.
All in all We had an awful experience and won’t be back. What a shame, we live in Brunswick and will cross this cafe off our list.
Ray's has a friendly atmosphere and the coffees were great too, as was the RFC (chicken burger). Unfortunately, the reuben was a bit too soggy and messy to eat.but we thought the chips were yummy though.
I think the 15% surcharge for Saturdays and whatever it was for other types of days is a load of BS.
It would be fairer if you had a special menu for Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. It was not until after we paid, that we realised, we were stung for more than what the menu says.
Great food, great service. Love the old school song references on the menu. The staff really looked after us and the chill vibe made it a nice comfy place for brunch
A super friendly cafe with a full vegan menu. A coffee bar in an airy warehouse space with distressed decor, plus eclectic brunch dishes, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors.
Best Vegan breakfast I have had in ages! They dont just Vegan “options” that you think I could of done that much better myself, they actually have a well thought Vegan Menu and you enjoy having multiple choices! Plus great coffee & staff are friendly
Very yummy and reasonably priced. Staff are always welcoming and kind. Favourite breakfast spot in this area.
If you’re after groovy vibes with delicious food for vegans and non-vegans alike, this is the place! They have the most insane hash and a huge thank you to Luke for being an incredible server and looking after us so well! Can’t recommend this place enough
Breakfast is my favourite meal and I cook it well so I’m always a harsh critic. BUT no one in the world does breakfast better than this place. I swear if I could give it more stars I would. It’s the best breakfast place I’ve been to hands down. OH MY GOD!
Edit: the staff member on today was rude af but I don’t want to adjust my 5 stars cos it’s not fair on the other staff. I’m taking a break from this place for a while
Super super delicious food, johnny has was so so good, lovely setting great service.what more could you ask for!
