Cafe Ray reviews
82Ordered two ice coffees (small cups we supplied, ice cubs, coffee, soya milk) basic as. $14.sad!
- South fried chicken burger. Chicken is well-cooked and balanced with different veg salad and pickles. However, sauce is bit spicy for me. Chips will be better if can be cut in smaller size.
- Pancake with thick cut bacon. It's my first time to try this combo, which well mixes salty bacon and sweet maple syrup.
We just got a takeaway almond croissant from the window on a Sunday afternoon. The person serving barely acknowledged us and didn't confirm payment had been made (just kept talking to their co-worker) - had to check our banking app to ensure it had.
Overall, $9 was excessive for what turned out to be a pretty average croissant (the pastry had gone stale) which was provided with some pretty average service.
We came here today for brunch. The wait staff were a little slow to attend to our table, but took our order shortly after we arrived, and then came back to confirm a second time before putting the order through. It wasn't that busy but it took longer than it should have for the coffees to come out. My partner and I were having a great conversation and didn't notice the first 30 mins passing, but then started getting really hungry because we hadn't had breakfast and it was now approaching lunch time. No wait staff came back to our table even though I made eye contact with them a few times. After waiting for 50mins for the food to arrive I finally went up to the counter to find that they'd never put the order through! If the wait staff had bothered to check in on us at all it would have been picked up earlier and wouldn't have been an issue. If you're going to have a 10% surcharge for weekend service actually provide a service!
Recently discovered there gem of a cafe. Amazing high quality food, great vibes, perfect coffee! Highly recommend checking it out!
I've been visiting this cool little rustic cafe every few months since the COVID restrictions were lifted in late 2021; The attentive & friendly service is a standout feature, and the food & drink options are all tasty (with most dietary requirements accommodated). The framed artwork for sale inside is an interesting eye catcher
Coffee was fab!
We ordered the smashed avo toastie and cauliflower fritters from their vegan menu. They were both very yummy!
I’ve given 4 stars because the salty and umami flavour in cauliflower fritters was a bit overwhelming. Would’ve given 5 stars if it with some chilli and/or cherry tomatoes
But otherwise, splendid place!
Good coffee and food, but not a fan of charging extra on weekends 'to cover wages'. It feels like a mandatory tip.
Great coffee (expresso) in a nice place. Friendly staff and nice industrial recycled design to the place (not the right words here). Art for sale from local artists on the walls.
Wonderful people, amazing coffee and the omelette was one of the best I’ve ever had. Go in and say hello.
Doesn't pay staff correctly. If you can't pay staff correctly then don't run a business
Great vibe, really friendly staff. Good range of lunch options and open late into the afternoon which is ideal. Had the mushroom toastie which was perfectly juicy and a little spicy just what I needed. And to top it off an extra rich choccy milkshake. Need to come back properly to try the coffee and the bacon and egg toastie.
Doesn’t pay there employees and their food sucks regardless, wouldn’t support this cafe if it was the last food on earth
Love love love this place, good coffee, great service, and amazing gluten free muffins ️ my absolute go-to in the neighbourhood
Had a takeaway coffee and a ham & cheese croissant this morning from this neat little spot. Service was great so go check them out
I love this place. It's such a hidden gem - doesn't look like a dine-in cafe from the street but inside is a really peaceful warehouse space. The vegan cauliflower fritters are one of the most delicious brunch dishes I've ever had. The fact that they have an entire vegan menu is awesome. The owner and staff are so lovely. Can't wait to go back and try something else out. In a sea of overpriced and boring brunch menus in the area this place is something different!
Were sold out of the tofu scramble but my second option, the smashed avo, was still very delicious. Super friendly staff. Will go back for the tofu scramble next time I'm in the North side!
I had brunch here with a mate today, staff were so good, a vibe here for sure, my mate had a toasty and cakes, I had the hash with thick cut bacon, coffee was great! The owner was in and chatted to us at the till about our experience and thought it was only fitting we leave a good review
Thankyou
I was strolling through Brunswick on a sunny ️ winter ️ day when a little café caught my attention. From the outside it looked like a tiny little café serving coffee-to-go only with just three tiny little tables to the front outside.
But at the second look Café Ray is a beautiful and big café with a full kitchen. If you like vegan food, you will be more than happy.
The vegan falafel? And the salad of the day was delicious and I enjoyed also my long black! I start enjoying long blacks more and more. Compared to an Americano, it is nice to see the crema on top.
Sitting in the sun ️ and listening to the amazing Berlin style club music I felt like sitting at the Spree in Berlin after a long club night.
Amazing vibes, great music, super delicious food and tasty coffee! The entire team was super friendly and great fun to talk to!

Favourite cafe in Brunswick. Never disappoints. The best Vegan sausage roll you'll ever have. Staff are very friendly and personable and coffee is great every time. A short walk from Sydney road which is great because the traffic isn't so loud. Also dog friendly!
