Cafe Ray reviews
82One of the best cafes in Melbourne. The owners and staff are so wonderful and friendly, food is delicious and oh god - the coffee. This is the best coffee in the world. Hands. Down.
Friendly staff time and time again. A must try if you're visiting Brunswick and it should be your regular if you live there.
Coffee is great and the vegan sausage roll is unreal
We love Ray's! The first cafe in Brunswick and it's still putting out amazing coffee, service and food!
Horrible experience with these guys. Also believe that they don't pay their suppliers & staff (from multiple sources). Won't be giving these guys any business and wouldn't recommend to anyone else either.
Out of this World amazing GF Hash Browns & Muffins. Coffee fantastic and service is next level amazing. Thanks for an awesome Breakfast Ray.
My mum and I came to Ray's early in the morning just after arriving in Melbourne, and we were so happy we chose this lovely café to have our breakfast at. We liked how they had a second menu with all vegan options, and we had the pancakes which were delicious, and our coffees were so so good. The service was so friendly and welcoming and struck up conversation, and explained the origins of their roast and the processes involved with home making their meals. The space also had a good vibe, with outdoor seating front and back. A lovely space to spend a morning, or anytime really.
Had an amazing 2 coffees and bacon and egg roll here, really tasty. Finished with one of their fresh made in house chocolate croissants which was really good. Would recommend a visit for breakfast!
Came to Rays on a Sunday for brekky. Loved that they have a regular and also a separate fully vegan menu. Great move.
Checked in with a staff member for an outdoor seat however needed to prompt the staff that we were there after a 10 min wait for menus.
A similar table outside decided to move to a shaded spot and there was a little drama over seats being moved and the 'system'. Awkward interaction between what seemed to be an experienced staff member and a more junior staffer about correct ordering protocols.
10 minutes after the coffee order we were informed that our coffee order wasn't logged. Order was taken again. Then coffees came out 1 minute later, with staff confirming that it was in fact logged.
My partner had the Hello Halloumi burger. It was all a bit confusing with trying to acquire a side of chips. There is a full $10 portion available however other burgers have a smaller side of chips included on the menu. When asked whether we could get a smaller side order for this particular burger the staff advised that this was not possible and the system wouldn't allow it. Odd and overly complicated. Partner mentioned that the burger was tasty and enjoyable nonetheless.
I ordered the Mexibowla which I was excited about. Sad to say that the beans were incredibly dry. They seemed refried which may be the cooking style however were a touch difficult to eat after a few bites. Unfinished bowl of food which was a little sad.
The sides or add ons are quite expensive. $9 for salmon does seem a little steep and $7 for avocado. That's definitely on the higher end of what I've seen before.
Unfortunately a so-so visit for me this time. I might consider a return in future to try something else. Maybe it was an off day.
We love Café Ray. Our daughter introduced us to this café about 3 years ago and now we have made it a regular weekend spot. Love the staff and owners and the food is always delicious and beautifully presented. It has a regular and a separate and full vegan menu, so everyone is catered for.
Always amazing and fresh! Staff are super kind and friendly, and the coffee is unreal. Highly recommend visiting!
This place is just awesome! Swedish food, mix your own if you feel like. Try Eggs Benedict and potatoes, it's so yummy
For a cafe known for their food and coffee, I was amazed to find the best freshly baked almond croissants in all of Melbourne! The ambience, music and staff were all fantastic as well, I highly recommend.
This place is gorgeous. They have a second menu which is entirely vegan. Try the sausage rolls.
Back to Ray cafe for probably my 20th chicken schnitzel since I moved to Melbourne a month or so ago. It’s a legit joint
There's no going past Cafe Ray. With two entire menus - one vegan, one not - you'll never be starved for options. Vicky, the owner, delivers superb customer service from the moment you enter, and treated us as if we were old friends.
The Hello Halloumi burger & the vegan pancakes were both divine. The coffee was excellent. There's really no faulting this place. We'll be back, for sure (if not just to hang out with Vicky).
Vicky and Tolly provide an excellent service, are incredibly friendly, and most importantly make an A grade coffee.
Mega friendly staff! Tracey, Tolly, August and Sam have greeted us by name on our weekend coffee visits all year, and the vegan food is awesome!
Have been coming here for years, and always had the best customer service provide. Great coffee, and excellent food (The chicken schnizel roll is a banger)
Super attentive service with relaxed vibey music, such great playlists every time I come in!
This is the best place for Coffee consistently
