Bourkies Bake House reviews
79On Tuesday the 11th January we were on a return run from our holiday in portland Victoria too drive past a fatal road crash near the township of Woodend.once inside the bakery we were close followed by female customer and her 10 year old son clearly shaken up and upset with what we all seen only to discover she was infact the first person on the scene of the road fatality.we were of course being supportive of this intertidal lady but was very delighted in the support the team at buries bakery as they were simply amazing in true heartfelt care and support even donating an early lunch for that poor lady that we meet that day.we only hope this is seen and taken on board by so many others in this very crazy world we live in right now. 100 percent wounderfull caring staff here. And the meat pies and yummy deserts a big must for your travels through the region. God bless the staff here on that horrible day.we will be back 100 percent.best bakery in Australia
Happy with food and service, I used to stop here many years ago, I miss the old store and there apple & blueberry custard tarts, have now become a little commercial. But certainly worth a visit.
The variety of bread and cakes etc looked wonderful, sadly not much gluten free for me, but I expected that - did enjoy the orange & almond slice. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying their purchases
We drove like almost almost 2 hours from our destination came to see this fine bakery.
We loved it. Pies are amazing and coffee too.
Great options for a quick lunch.flaky pastries and pie and sausage rolls were delicious.my wife enjoyed the salad roll.it was great!
Lived up to expectations. Pie & pastie both on point and the sweets hit the spot. Has a great little area you can sit down both in and outside. Will defs go back when I'm in the area to try the milkshakes.
Never have I been treated like a criminal as when I walked in to this place as I do every morning spending good money multiple times a day!
I was asked if I checked in which I answered yes and the old lady saw me checking in on my phone then asked to see the app. I explained that she had just watched me check in and that she was insinuating I was a liar just for the young hero behind the counter to say "don't speak to us that way". Apparently according to the bakery police a good paying customer isn't allowed to say anything! Extremely poor people skills. I'll now gladly keep my $400 per month spent there in my pocket!
One of the best bakeries in Victoria. Their meat pies are so awesome so are the vanilla slices.
Pies are average at best, the gravy and filling isn't ideal. They make great lamb/pork and gravy rolls but if your timing is late they often wont have any prepared.
The line system is chaotic, the register being in the middle of the counter and close to the front door makes everyone group up at the entry and if you're new to the store you will often miss that there is a ticketing system. Also sometimes there isnt any tickets and then its more chaotic getting served.
A great country bakery. Fast and efficient service and plenty of seating. A very wide selection of quality baked goods and the coffee is good too. Recommended for a stop in Woodend.
Huge line - seemed popular with locals and tourists alike. Got 2 sausage rolls and coffees. Unfortunately the sausage roll wasn’t good - the meat itself was seasoned nicely, but the pastry around it literally fell apart. Incredibly difficult to eat and I’ve never experienced this before we a sausage roll. The coffee was standard, can’t fault them there
Haven't made a habit of going here since they changed it from the friendly little corner place it used to be. Shame really, but I suppose when it's all about the money and not the customer service you do what you gotta do. Miss the the bakery it used to be.
Most of the food was great, NO inside seating available & only 4 stars because you only have 1 toilet, very very very busy, please take a number & wait for your turn! Wait your turn for the toilet & then eat outside!
Wow what amazing Bakery/Cafe. Phenomenal Pastries and sweets and top notch quality barista made coffee. Highly recommend.
Stopped for lunch (and sweet treats) on our way back from Hepburn Springs. Easy to see why this place was bustling. Great home made pies, pastries and cakes. Ordered a milkshake and was great to get it old school, the full size one in the metal milkshake container.
Food was amazing, service was amazing, culture was amazing! Overall definitely the number one backery in this hemisphere
Very busy but well worth the trip. Always winning awards for their vanilla slice recipie. Great variety of hot and cold food with lots of sauces and jams made from local producers
Cakes weren't anything special and they have a tendency to run out of vanilla slices, so get in early.
I got a meat pie and it wasn't very good. It was only like warm (although I do like my pies hot so that may just be me). As it is one of the few bakeries in Woodend it is always packed.
One of the best pies I have had in a long time. Also had the most amazing vanilla slice. Highly recommend!
