Bomba Tapas Bar and Rooftop Spanish Restaurant reviews
73OMG this is the best place with the best food cocktails sangria and wine. Our waiter was attentive funny and welcoming. Definitely going back.
Bomba catered for a large group of 17 people and all our dietary needs. We had such a good night here. Do hesitate to book. The food was awesome. We had the set menu.
My colleagues and I ordered the worker's lunch menu and had a few tapas to share amongst us. The lamb was tender and excellent and I would also recommend the grain salad (something I never thought I would say when it comes to a Spanish restaurant). The customer service was friendly and I am glad my foodie trip to Melbs started with this spot.
Superb tapas, lovely wine list and very attentive staff. Rooftop bar is also fabulous with a good selection of food and drinks, good music and a great view.
Great service, beautiful food. Recommend the tasting menu.small portion that add up to a beautiful sampling of all the best stuff. Yum!
This place was amazing! Great views, great space. We had a delicious lunch, the staff were friendly and efficient and the cocktails were awesome. Thank you, we will definitely be back.
We enjoyed the NYE feast at Bomba and it was divine. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. The courses and drinks came out with excellent timing and if the drinks took over 5 minute we were generally given an apology for the wait.what wait? ! I am pescatarian and pregnant and they catered for my dietary needs beautifully, replacing certain dishes with appropriate food that evenly matched the standard and quality of the set menu. The atmosphere was vibrant, yet romantic. Perfect evening.
Food was excellent, had mostly small tapas, it's hard to go wrong with Iberico jamon and they definitely do it right. Everything we had was great, especially the scallop and lamb tapas. Great place, Waiters were attentive, giving us good advices about the food.would definitely go back!
We’ve eaten here a few times over the years. It’s kind of a favourite for when we come to town and want to spoil ourselves. The food was great as usual and Lindsay our host was just as good.
Had a rooftop bar booking at 6: 00 for 6 people that I had made 2 weeks in advance but when we got there we were told that it was restaurant booking for 5. I showed them our email that clearly showed we had made a booking for the rooftop bar and a reply from one of their staff confirming we did. The staff basically shrugged and moved me on to the restaurant and we had to squeeze 6 people into 5 person table. That would have been fine I guess had the food not been too pricey for the portion size we were given. The food was tasty but had to do a Maccas run straight after.
Relaxed and groovy Spanish bar, with a limited cocktail list it's easy to decide on a delicious concoction. The tapas menu was a winner all round, individual servings suited our tastebuds and appetite.
Our tapas favourites were the scallop, quail, honey roasted sobrasada and bone marrow with wagyu!
Many more munchies are on our list of must tries for our next visit.
Between the downstairs and the rooftop, Bomba has a very solid tapas selection and great drinks with fun, friendly staff all around. Downstairs is intimate and suited to lounging while dining with partners, and the rooftoo is better suited to drinks in a lighter, more casual setting. To get to the rooftop, catch the elevator to Level 5.
While the food and drink were delicious, we didn’t feel that the amount of food given with the $70 set menu was ample. It was nice to have an oyster and a scallop each, the pork was barely bite sized and the main, a small amount of beef and patatas simply didn’t align with comparable set menus from other venues within the city, particularly given that there was no dessert included. I understand the desire to recuperate lost income due to covid, but something more substantial is needed!
Table for 2 with a request for rooftop dining but wasn't granted and was notified a few hrs before the booking which is fine.
Both of us ordered the $65 set menu and were mostly disappointed for what came out and the portion size for that price.
So going through the set menu, we got one oyster each which is disappointing but tasted fine like how an oyster should taste like with the vinaigrette, charcuterie which felt like a very scant serving of non descript paper thin slices of spicy prosciutto ham, one grilled prawn on toast each which was good, one croquetta each whih was crispy on the outside as it should be but mushy and mostly tasteless on the inside without any texture, corn ribs which had no real flavour nor was it sweet as you'd expect good corn to have and the portion size was ridiculously small (4-6 corn ribs?), one pork belly each which was good except the bottom layer of the belly was way too overcooked and had a very chewy jerky like texture, lamb shoulder which was soft/moist as expected but didn't really taste of anything and it kind of looked more like a Thai red curry than a Spanish dish, roast potatoes which were EXCEEDINGLY salty even though I have a high salt tolerance but had a nice crispy textured skin and finally, the salad, well, what's there to say about a salad really? It was fine. The service staff could also do with a lot more attention to customers whom were sitting in the corner/secluded places.
Overall, I was disappointed with the food/portion size and the other person I was with said it'd tasted "normal and meh". $130 in total for the food and portion size we received isn't worth the money. I just wasn't satisfied and it didn't feel right. I'd probably pay a maximum of $30-35/person and they'd still make money, not $65. Luckily for me, although I was disappointed with the food, my company made it worthwhile.
I was also shocked that they didn't have garlic prawns on the menu as it's a classic Spanish tapas served in a mini terracotta pot. This is a sin for a Spanish place. It's the equivalent of going to an Italian restaurant and not
having carbonara on the menu.
Finally, I would also recommend them redesigning the set menu to include paella and churros for dessert. Two very classic and iconic Spanish dishes.
Great location however, staff were incredibly rude and constantly questioning myself and others about masks. Even when I mentioned I have a medical exemption they pestered me. It really dampened the experience from the moment I arrived. The food was delicious but was overpriced, sadly there were not enough servings for the set menu and left hungry. Can't say I'll be coming back in a hurry.
What a lovely experience! Beautiful flavours to choose from, seasonal and fresh. Catered to one on our table's need for special considerations without fuss and with the most lovely attention from the staff. Great night out!
Average food, had the $90 set menu, oysters were tasty but that's about it.not much value. Purchased vodka sodas with fizziless soda.
We choose the set menu and enjoyed a variety of fresh and very well prepared dishes. A relaxed, easy going venue with great food.
Nice setting, busy on the Friday night we went but not excessively loud. We did the feed me for six of us and the food was all quite food. They were really great at making adjustments for dietary requirements. Particular highlights were the quail, ribs and the mushroom soup as unreal. They also have a fantastic drinks menu, for me I love Gin and they had a number of different variants, the one with grapefruit and pink pepper as the garnish was my personal favourite. After dinner we went up to the rooftop for a couple more drinks - so perfect venue if you want to stay on after dinner. Would return.
Their appetizers are awesome! I ordered prawns, octopus & bone marrow toast. Octopus wasn't a must try but I LOVE THE BOM MARROW TOAST! My boyfriend likes the prawns as well.
We tried one cocktail at the rooftop bar & one wine at the restaurant. Both were fairly good for us.
Nice atmosphere too. The rooftop bar is way too crowded.
Tips: if you want to have a meal & rooftop on the same night, rmb to ask at the front desk if you need to book a table for the restaurant before you go to the rooftop bar. If not, you might need to visit the rooftop twice as it might take some time to wait for an empty table.
