Bistrot d'Orsay reviews
69Crispy pork belly was soft, cold and far from crispy. Was a real let down. Steak and soufflé however were cooked perfectly. Service was somewhat hit and miss. Ordered a bottle of wine to only be asked after we finished the first glass if we wanted to buy another. Had to remind them we had purchased a bottle. Staff pretty slow to refill glasses. Very cramped in, space is a luxury here. For the price you pay you expect a little more finesse. Over all we had a lovely dinner, just a few minor. The pork belly is where the stars were lost I’m afraid.
Lovely accommodating staff, quick meals which was perfect for us as a pre-theatre meal. Steak was to die for and good selection of wines.
Very good service, exceptional food. A little slice of Paris right here in Collins Street Melbourne. Very enjoyable. A nice way to celebrate a special wedding anniversary!
Haven't tasted the food, the coffee is ok and in a convenient location when I don't have time. But the middle aged dude behind the counter couldn't crack a smile if his life depended on it.some people just shouldn't work in the service industry.
This “very French” bistro in the middle of the city is one of the better French food restaurants I have been to in Melbourne. The food and service here is very good.
I had the Goat Cheese Soufflé (it’s probably not called that) as a starter and it was amazing. The cheese was not over powering, and there was enough for 2 to share.
For mains, I had the Confit Duck Leg, while my friend had the Duck and Pea Risotto. Both of the mains were delicious. The confit duck leg was a flavourful, but the flavours of the risotto was much better.
The restaurant also has a good collection of French wines.
Would recommend booking early, given this is a small bistro.
Beautiful sharing platter before the Matinee performance at The War Horse, Regents Theatre. Excellent service from both Venues.
Great food, gorgeous interior, excellent service - our waiter was very attentive. Steak was perfect, the parfait and pear tatin were to die for!
The steak had a lot of sinews and I couldn't eat it.
But the Service was excellent and a great ambience.
Very French in both decor, service folk and of course the menu and food. Parisian wall art and ambiance makes you almost feel as though you are in France! We have dined at this smallish restaurant previously and liked it enough for a return visit. We certainly were not disappointed in the food however service without attitude is always preferable.
We have dined here on many occasions over 20 plus years. Always without exception a great meal, amazing friendly and prompt service backed up by a fine drink list. Always 5 star. A central Melbourne institution.
